Karthus is a Mid-Range Mage. He has range yes, but not something like Lux or Xerath. Range also doesn't always guarantee safety against a decent Yasuo.
Karthus is also a safe pick, which also means he can't act too aggressively too much or else Yasuo's low cooldowns can and will beat his mana pool. You can afford to play safe yes, but that also means letting Yasuo farm his items, and many offensive items are more powerful on Yasuo than in most champions.
Let's not also forget that items like Hexdrinker (and even Maw exists) that Yasuo can get after his PD.

sobi9992 votesThe trick to beating yasuo is to freeze wave near turret. farm in safety and poke him. If he dashes too close Q him and AA and run back. Its really hard to do but thats what a lux should do against a yasuo. Yasuoo counters all poke mages tbh, he was designed like that.

Of course he can destroy Lux too but dodge his Q is easy most the times if you are in good position and being foresighted he did nothing to you...but yes in a gank Lux have much more chance to die than yasuo if she fails her Q.
But dont forget 89% of the Yasuos are feeders, the best counter are themselves! [slayer-jinx-wink]
