I have "clicked" with Azir, I am surely doing something wrong?

I heard a lot about how hard Azir was to play etc. Luckily he is free2play this week, so I thought why not give him a try? And I didnt find him to be that hard. Of course, the Shurima Shuffle and "Azir Insec" is still hard to pull off. So I am wondering, if I am missing out on something? Why is he hard to use? I might be doing something wrong, but last hitting is so easy with him compared to Annie, who my coach reccomended to me. I dont get a tons of kills in lane, but I deal a lot of damage in team fights. I love everything about his kit, but I am feeling that I am doing something wrong. PS! I dont want to sound like a god gifted player who can play anything. I am a Silver IV player, who started to play LoL in September last year. I struggle with Champs like Elise and Zed, but for some reason I donts struggle at all with Azir. Of course, I have to learn more about teamfighting, some of his wall jumps etc, but I dont find him hard at all in the laning phase. Hope i dont sound to "cocky"

Azir is a champion who has a hard time staying alive in teamfights long enough to do real damage, especially in higher elos where players all know of his damage threat, what his tools are to stay alive, and how to play around them. You'll start deal with stuff like vi ulting into you since she can't be cc'd out of her ult which makes her go through your wall, same with malphite, or anyone with a morgana shield on them. Assassins will have better positioning and won't even visibly enter the teamfight until they have a positioning to kill you as soon as you put your soldiers down, leaving you no choice but to flee directly into the teamfight or die to the assassin. People will know how your laning phase matchups work and be able to abuse you or just play safe and not let you bully them (someone like veigar will just farm against you and one shot you later on which forces you to be aggressive and probably get ganked).

It's mostly just an issue of surviving while dealing dps. It's the same problem adc's face as they rise in the ranks. A burst mage or top laner generally only needs to position super well during the crucial moment where they make their play and burn their skills, but an adc or someone like azir has to be on the edge of a fight for a long time to get their damage off and that makes them a prime target.

If you are enjoying him and finding success with him, by all means, continue to use him.

Azir is generally considered hard to use because his skills, damage, and mobility rely so much on effective placement of his soldiers. Just because this is difficult for most people doesn't mean it won't come naturally to you. The more you use any champion, even the "easy" ones, you will find more and more little things to do better that you may not have realized before.

Your coach probably suggested Annie because she is one of the "easy" champs with a relatively simple to use kit. As you noticed though, Azir's laning kill pressure is not as high. While you can get kills with Azir, you don't have the stun-burst combo that Annie does, so it is easier for the enemy to get away from your kill attempts. Instead, Azir will aim to control the lane by keeping the enemy away from last hits and get ahead that way. (Of course, this is my opinions and I am neither an Azir nor Annie player, so I would welcome any corrections.)

It's because at the silver elo most people don't know how to play against Azir properly. Once you get to a higher elo things get much harder.
