Diana mainers, I summon you! n.n

Just bought the lunar godess Diana and she is fun, but I still need some tips and tricks to take my play to the next level. I kinda die to much, but I always get more kills than deaths so I have that going for me which is nice. I mainly use her in the jungle.

I posted something in another thread, here's the copy/paste. I mainly play her mid, but enjoy jungle Diana too. Especially since the devourer jungle item cost so much money now, and xin+devourer takes too long to get going. Also, for anyone saying Diana is OP, you don't know shit about the game. She's probably the most balanced assy in the game. On to the tips:

She's not the easiest champ to play so don't give up after your first couple games. She does tons of damage And is tanky to boot. Quick tips:

  1. you always want to try to Q before you Ult on to the enemy so yournult resets. 2)if you use the Q>R combo and you know the Q will hit, you can actually R to the enemy before the Q even lands and it will still reset because the game reads it that you cast Q first. 3)her lane phase is SHIT PRE-6. You have no kill pressure or get away. So just remember play super safe until 6. 4)I don't train a point in E until level 7. I max up q and w until 6, then put a point in ultimate then finally at 7, I will put one in E. However sometimes it's good to put it in at level 5, especially if you have an early game jungler. But max q first, then w, and e last. If your in the jungle sometimes it's better to max W first though. 5)she doesn't have much escape but remember, she reveals non stealth champs and monsters with q. So let's say your in a pickle in the jungle, throw a q over the wall to a camp and if the monsters are there you are now able to R over the wall to the monsters since they are revealed. Instant get away/flash. 6)her damage is seriously nucking futs. I like going many diff builds but ever build for me always contains at least two dorans rings because it helps Diana's mana issues greatly and makes her more tanky. Some builds I do to start are: if in against an Annie or syndra I like double Dorians into scepter, if against zed or other ads I like double Dorians into arm guard/zhonyas, If I'm against anyone else, I usually mix it up between double Dorans and nashors tooth OR if I think my opponent is absolute trash and I can snowball, I go triple Dorans>sorc shoes>rabadons cap. The last build is for when you know your going to stomp the lane and attempt to carry the shit out of the game. 7)attack sped is super good on Diana because her passive does insane damage.'I like running attack speed marks because of this. 8)practice shooting your q. It's not easy until you get used to it. 9)roam roam roam and roam some more. Take teleport instead of ignite because you can change a bot lane tp fight more than any other mid laner. She is that powerful. 10)have fun. Dirty Diana is by far the most fun I've had in the year and a half I've played

  1. It's not neccesary if you got already got some kills, one dash and e is enought for your target to not be able to escape from you, until you shut them down. I played have played with diana about 50 games with/against platinum-master sometimes challenger players. And I did very well in those games, looking at my knowledge about this champion ( as you see he requirs a lot less of it).
  2. I didn't played her in lane, becouse I'm not so skilled, but I in the jungle I'm the queen with her, after reaching level 6. I can do full clear by losing only minimum amount of hp. You can't do much pre 6, but you can't get invaded and killed in your jungle in most cases, becouse of the tankiness she has.
  3. No, theres always a smart choise to put a poin on e in case you get ganked in lane or spoted in your own jungle by multiple enemies, it helps a little bit. Most of the champions who has no escapes has the same tankiness, but not both - such a power

As she ment to be a bruiser, theres no point buildin her like this in most cases, she does benefict team more with being a glass cannon who deals insane amount of demage.

  1. I never builded attack speed on diana, I always went go for max and fast burst, to kill my enemies as fast as possible. For me, attack speed diana is weaker, in case I needed it, I was building nashoor tooth as my 3-5 nd item, most of the time 5 nd.

  2. Shooting q is insanely easy, I didn't even fed in my first games, I actualy did very well, but maybe becouse she fits my play style, I don't know.

  3. I agree, her snowballing is insane and hard to shut down.

  4. I agree with that, I just feel bad, becouse everytime I play her I'm doing very well.

AlldaySkandi2 votes

a simple tip but very usefull ,activate w before doing the q-r combo, that way when you hit r you have a sheild and get off your passive without taking too much damage

kyocrisis2 votes

I don't remember riot saying anything like that but could be wrong. .

Diana has tankiness because she has no cooldowns and HAS to all in every time, which is a weakness. Another being if you miss the Q, which is easily dodgeable, Diana loses a ton of power. Her E has a very long CD at all ranks.

She is by no means broken, she's pretty balanced. That said, she can snowball really hard but if the game goes really late she falls off a bit.

Tips would be to build according to the enemies, I tend to rush either Zhonya or Abysmal depending. Build Void when they start building MR. Remember to use your Zhonya active, that will help immensely after you blow all your spells. Ask your jg for Blue buff in lane. Build Nashor for extended fights and passive proc, Lich for burst. Know when to go in and when not to. Roam and gank other lanes. These are tips for Diana mid, I rarely play her jg.

I'm giving you tips on Diana laning mid. I'll be the first to admit although I play her in the jungle I don't play nearly enough jungle Diana to claim to know her However, I have tried both mpen Reds and AS reds and I prefer AS reds. As for your E comment. i have found much better success with not putting a point in E until 7, but, your opinion your opinion and mine is mine etc etc. And I completely disagree with you on your first point saying "it's not always necessary" to Q before Ulting. This is 100% wrong. Fed, not fed, or losing lane hard, you should always TRY to q before ulti. Now granted a lot of times you have to go in and don't have time to q. But if q is up I can't stress enough to try and throw it. You can actually R >Q as well but it's much harder to hit the q/land the q before the R hits. Point is the reason you should at least attempt to q before Ulting is so you have a get away with ult or so obviously you can jump on another carry. So will you always be able to? Of course not. But should you always try to hit the q before Ulting? Absolutely

By the way to the guy who said there's no counter play to her when she's fed. When any champion is fed it's going to be an uphill battle to kill them, it has nothing to do with Diana. And dude, Warwick? Really??! Warwick is the least worrisome junglers in the game IMO. Unless your talking about preseason 5 WW, last year, my God what a nightmare

I already knew that you can use your ultimate withtout using q before. It's a great tip about using q before using r for more advanced players, actualy didn't knew about it. :) But it won't change the fact that she needs a rework, besides her imobility isn't a problem, becouse shes more tanky then any other assasin, as I mentioned earler...

SnugglePuggle941 votes

Um, if you looked at her character description, you would see it says "fighter" and not "assassin." So of course she is more tanky than assassins are. Duh.

I hate diana with a passion, I used to play her. It's so easy get fed, you don't need to think much or try to make your abilitys work, the only thing what you need to do is, to know when to go in, and a good timing at ganking (like with every other champion). You have 10-15 kills before 30 mins, enemie carys gonna die instantly if they come to close or get hited by q. In my opinion her whole kit is toxic wich needs a rework, to much demage, to much tankiness, to less counterplay then shes ahead and to easy to get fed, comparing to other champions.

I could say the same thing about WARWICK

Ever think that's because you are in silver and no one knows how to play the game properly? Try playing at a plat / diamond level where people actually know what champions do and I'd love to see you get 15 kills before 30 mins every game.

I'm silver becouse last time I played ranked it was 9 months ago. I play only normals and I'm matched with platinum-master players, sometimes challengers, I did improved. Only 5 months ago I was playing normals with/against only bronze-silver tier players.

So I knida know what I'm saying, some people hate stealthed champions like rengar and shaco, but I hate diana. Even in higher elo replys then I see someone picked diana, most of the time after she gets a few kills, she snowballs insanely hard, eventualy getting more kills and stomping the game, without being able to come back...

So your're saying that diamond-challenger players aren't feding? Iny my own experience it's not how it is, besides I have seen many challenger games where at the 40 mins kills score looked like 50-40, where one player had about 25 kills. It's just an example. If you are playing with that champion god like, you can get fed in any divsion.

I just hate diana becouse it's easer for her to do it after level 6. Same with warwick, you just need to know when to gank. And what can you do about it? Fucking nothing, after they got theyr kills you can't even kite them, thats why it's toxic and broken, same shet with old sion, old rengar and existing tarics W (stun)

You do realize that a diamond level player in normals is different than a diamond player in ranked right? They would play normals to have fun and fuck around or play champions they are just learning, not try hard. In ranked they try their hardest and are on their game, you can't say "oh i play with plats and diamonds in normals so I know exactly how good they are". Tell me what's so broken about Diana. She's a pretty 1 dimensional champion, she has a shield, a aoe slow for champions in her melee range and a gap closer that requires her to land a awkward / slow skill shot to even use. Meanwhile there are champions like Leblanc Yasuo Riven Fizz that not only do as much damage as Diana, but have ways of easily getting out of a fight afterwards. But you're right Diana OP she has a small slow and a shield, the exact same things Ekko has except he also has a aoe stun, a gap closer and an escape that does aoe damage.

Diana has tankiness becouse shes designed badly, RIOT said that they wanted to make her as a bruiser tank/initiator, but they failed and made her an ap assasin... Her shield is used to deal more demage most of the time and sometimes depending on the situation you can use it as a defensive tool, that slow is more then enought, comparing with the demage she has and comparing how snowbally she will became after a few kills. Same thing had happened with a lot of champions, like elise, wich you could play her mid/top in the past. Theres no way that you gonna miss all your q's as diana and you don't even need to use your e then you are ahead and want to destroy enemie carys. And even if you can't lend them becouse you are so bad or your opponent can avoid every q (wich I didn't saw yet), you can dash to them with your r, slow with your e, and finish them with q, w. People used to talk about old sion same things as you do right now: learn to play against, use your brains, he has nothing else, but only hes stun, etc...

No way, most people try new things or champions in normals, but they still want to win as much as in ranked... If you are right, can you explain me why all players in my friend list who are silver and below are matched with bronze-gold players only and didn't had a platinum even once? I asked them individualy, becouse I wasn't sure about myself.

Shes design is toxic. Theres no counter play to her then shes ahead, as I mentioned same with warwick. Theres always some chance to out play your opponent no matter how fed they are, for example, then fighting fed yasuo you can try to avoid hes tornado , bait hes shield or windwall, you can avoid ekko stun, you can avoid being one shoted by rengar buying zhonyas, mercurial scimitar, a pink ward or just taking a good peeler.

Dianas q is a skill shot but it means nothing and it's almost impossible to miss. Most of this, is from my own experience, then I used to play diana in the past, until I realized how bullshet is this champion.

I don't see Diana do too well in ranked at platinum level play. If she does get ahead, it's by a few kills and then you can just CC and shut her down. And playing normals against high elo players is different because plat+ is a different gameplay style than silver. In silver, you have to snowball to carry, in upper elos you have to have stronger decision making and coordination with your team, like positioning and mechanics. I think you're really assuming too much of Diana based on your own play in silver. I mean, I'm sure Akali averages like 20+ kills in Bronze, does that make her OP across all tiers? Absolutely not..

Thats so funny, becouse even of the RIOTS eployers mentioned ( I can't remember if it was in some thread or it was in the news) that she meant to be a bruiser tank/an initiator. And she isn't balanced becouse of her demage tankiness and an easy accessible ability to shut down wanted targets. If you still don't agree with me, think about it by yourself, who the hell in the game has such a demage mobility (talking about dashing in to enemies) and tankiness?? You can cc every champion, it won't solve the problem.

There always will be people who will defend theyr opinion, I respect them for it, but if someone just proved by showing clearly facts that it's not the true, I'm sory for those blind people.

I don't play in silver, if you want to know why read my post above, besides lately I didn't saw any diana players much, but it doesn't change the fact her kit and the whole existence of her is a big failure. Before a rework sion wasn't very playable

At least check your facts before you start saying random shit. She wasn't never meant to be a tank or they would of gave her armor and magic resist buffs like Shyvana Jax. She was SUPPOSE to be a AP Fighter, so that's why she has a shield in the first place. As for her doing more damage than your standard AD Fighters MonkeyKing Gnar Vi Yasuo Fiora Garen Renekton, well she basically has to. They all have sustain in a fight from their life steal items, meanwhile Diana does not. Being a AP Fighter, AP items make her a little more bursty but at a cost of any sort of sustain. Not taking CC against Diana is like not taking CC against Katarina, it doesn't mean the champion is OP, it just means you have no idea how to play the game. As for "I'm Silver and I get matched with plat+ in normals". Well reality check, SO DOES EVERYONE. When I was in Silver like a year ago I was paired against diamond / master tier players in the odd game. That doesn't mean I'm on their level, it means that someone else around or in that tier is on my team and there is also a silver player on the enemy team.

Andrionar1 votes

It's not a rondom shet, I didn't said that she meant to a tank, I said that she meant to be a tank bruiser/an ap bruiser, (fighter), wich means some demage items and the left ones should be tank items.

No, man, a year ago I was paired with other bronze-silver players in my normal games. And now, I didn't in saw in my team any player below platinum, not even once for a long time ago. So watch what you're talking

BECAUSE they changed the match making so you aren't waiting for 20 minutes to be put into a match. You know a lot changes over a year right??? She was never suppose to be a tank sorry, she's not like Maokai Ryze DrMundo in the slightest.

Andrionar1 votes

You're right, thats definetely how it works! My all bronze-silver friends are matched with bronze-gold players and I'm an exception becouse I don't know why... -.-'

SnugglePuggle941 votes

She's not an assassin. For Pete's sake go look at her description. Clearly says, "FIGHTER."

Andrionar1 votes

Everyone playing her like an ap asssasin, figher means having most of the tank items, but it's much better to build her as a full glass cannon, most of the times.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

I know because she's my favorite champion. They build her like an assassin because that's how she deals her damage but I've tried her pure tanky fighter before and it was just as fun. I just don't like people calling her a pure assassin when she's classified as not.

Andrionar1 votes

It's one of the reasons why shes broken (maybe op) and toxic, she has some sort of tankiness even without tank times. Especialy its' very noticable in the early-mid game.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

That's due to her being a fighter and is perfectly acceptable. She's not broken nor op, she's actually one of the most reasonably balanced right now. She has no escapes outside her ult (ulting onto minions or monsters to get away), a small slow, shield, and a skillshot q. She's prone to being kited and has more counterplay than the obnoxious, overloaded, stupid Yasuo.

If she was made more into her actual fighter description people wouldn't be calling bullshit so much. It's just they turned her to more burst and people found out she does better that way.

Andrionar1 votes

She, doesn't need an escape becouse of her burst demage and her natural tankiness throughout the game. Shield was meant to make her more tanky, but everyone are using it to deal more demage (becouse it's more effective, most of the time). Yes she can be kited till death till 6, if you are playing her in lane. In the jungle she has no weakneses.

No no no, actualy even riot mentioned that they don't realy like current state of diana, they will put an eye on to her and in the future gonna rework her kit, becouse she meant to be a fighter and overall is frustating to play against!!!! Same thing was with elise 1-2 years ago, you could play her top/mid lane, but RIOT didn't like it. Same shet happened with SIon, many people back then, still used to say that he's ok and doesn't need a rework. Same thing with rengar and etc...

P.S I play shaco a lot, but I agree that he needs a rework, becouse hes kit is toxic to. Even if I don't want him to be reworked.. :/

Almost no one complains about her, becouse only a bunch of players play her.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

1 on 1 she can outduel due to her tankiness, but 2 or more she's dead without help, hence the no escapes part. Even past level 6 she can be kited because smart people can focus her in teamfights, Ashe slow and ult stun, any other forms of CC, etc.

Also, I have heard NOTHING of her being changed or reworked, and I definitely think Riot intends not to change her. If they had they would've done it by now but instead they like nerfing Evelynn to hell and changing ADCs instead.

No, she doesn't need reworked. She is perfectly balanced right now. Just like Annie, Riot doesn't touch her because any change can drastically change her to unviable or completely turn her into something we hate. She's fine. You just need to learn to play against her and find out her weaknesses.

They said it about year ago in some guys thread. Also, I didn't said that I have problems playing against her, I just don't like her kit, even if I used to play her.

Besides, first time they did mentioned shaco rework, 2-3 years ago, theres still no information about it and when will it gonna happen. -.- Some people think that shaco is toxic some not, same with some other a little bit older champions. I just thinked for a second and I did understood that thereso no point to discuss about it, there would be only worth finding people who think the same.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

Shaco isn't toxic to me but he is annoying to play against. Anyhow, you think her kit is toxic? How the fuck is it more toxic than Yasuo's? He has a defensive wall that blocks projectiles, high mobility on low CD, a double crit passive, a passive shield that saves him from damage, an annoying ass tornado that knocks you up which he can then ult onto you, giving him free bonus armor pen on that ulti....it's more toxic than Diana's and Annie's combined.

She doesn't need changed.

Andrionar1 votes

Everyone thinks differently, I'm out of discussion.

I main Diana. I usually go miss with her but I jungler her occasionally. The thing a lot of people don't realize is her passive. That damage is really good so hot minions twice if you can then go ham. Do not dive in unless you have got them with your q or else you are screwed. One of the hardest champions to lane against is Yasuo. I think this goes for all champions though but Yasuo can windwall your q right as you think is going to hit him and you already used your r. You are screwed at this point

You have to be very skilled diana player if you want to survive laning phase till level 6, but in the jungle - shes the queen of it.

Not really. I Max w first so when i know I'm going to get hit I pop my sheild walk up and kill my minions then walk away and use the range from my q to kill the rest. Until my sheild is up again. I rarely miss minions too. If they get to close I use my e and melee them 3 times to show them who's boss then at 6 they die lol. Maxing my sheild does leas damage but I can walk away from a trade with full health.

Or you just need to not be silver and actually know how to play the game properly. I basically only play Diana top and mid. You're a fool for taking her jungle.

Andrionar1 votes

I'm not silver, if you want to know why, read my posts, but I duobt that you will, becouse theres to many of them, also I'm to tired to talk about this agen. I have played against diana many times in lane. She can't do a shet pre6, you can harass her nonstop as a viktor or other champion with a range, even after level 6 it's to easy to avoid her q.

You're the biggest full I ever seen if you think that diana jungle sucks. You can make a full clear without health potions with a proper rune page! And your ganks after level six are unescapable without flash or wards.

You are silver, just because you play normals with higher elo doesn't mean shit. Here's an example http://i.imgur.com/8UQqO0L.png. The DrMundo in my last game was silver 3, with only a 46% winrate in ranked. However we had 2 plats and a diamond, while the other team only had 1 diamond and 1 plat. This is riots way of balancing the fact we had a lower elo player. It's not because this DrMundo is on a plat level, it's because the overall MMR of both teams is balanced.

Andrionar1 votes

All of my bronze-silver friends are matched with bronze-gold division players, and I didn't had lower then platinum player in my team even once since then, luck you gonna say? So how you would explain this?? Why every player I meat don't want to believe this, it's like they're jelous or something and after I prove it, they won't talk agen in that thread...

No there are times that I'm matched with bronze 4s in normals and I'm in plat 5. It is just luck, all riot cares about is that the team MMR is basically the same. They could take bronze and diamond tier players and put them on the same team, that's how normals work.

Andrionar1 votes

WTf, you are more then skeptical, your arguments are rational based. Luck for 5 months? Man, theres no way that this is based on luck, if that would be luck, I would had been playing with/against higher then silver players before this at least once, but I didn't.

It doesn't just take every player from your rank and put them on teams, normals would take forever to start. It takes players from any rank and tries to balance the teams, stop inflating your ego lmao. You are at a silver level, stop pretending like you aren't and you're some special little snowflake.

Andrionar1 votes

If we are talking about normal mmr, they take your recent mmr and match you with player who has equal to yours.

You still didn't proved that I'm not right, your arguments are stupid and irrational, becouse you do agree with my sarcastic comment, that for 5 months I started being matched with higher elo players becouse of my luck. I started being matched with higher elo players exacly then I decited to start improving myself. I stopped being toxic no matter what, started to watch high elo players videos everyday, always look for my own mistakes in recently played game and try to fix them, etc..

And yes, in ranked games as a silver remember being matched with platinum players sometimes. And as I know if you can win those kind of games, you gonna jump over divisions (you don't even need a huge wining spree). This should explain why sometimes you can get matched with higher or lower division players.

Even if you are right and I'm matched with platinum tier and higher rondomly, don't you think that more people who would have situation like mines, would get stomped in every game 100-0, they would cry and keep making threads about it?

If you would look at my match history I almost never have more deaths then kills.

No, you can't be matched with plats in ranked as a silver. You can only be matched with gold the highest. Having you say that you got matched with plats in silver, I now know everything you say is complete bs. I looked at your last game and everyone on both teams were either gold, plat or diamond. Except for 2 players, you were silver and the enemy team had an unranked player. He wasn't even bronze. SO that's how they balance it, a silver player on 1 team for a unranked player on the other like I said.

Andrionar1 votes

Oh, if you have it doesn't mean that you are silver, you could have frames from the season before. O.o

Im matched with gold- platinum, 1-2 diamond players right now usualy, becouse I started to play with master yi recently, and lost like 20 games out of 30, maybe even more and that one who was unranked, could be playing with hes premades and thats why he had higher mmr and played with us. If you still don't believe me, wait till i start playing champions wich I usually play and u'll see?

I just checked your last 4 games and in every single 1 the enemy team either has a silver player or an unranked player to make up for you being silver. Exactly as I said.

I'm not lieing, for about 5 months I was playing with platinum-master divisions. I know You still won't believe me, becouse I said some things that i wasn't sure about. Give me your contact after preseason will be over I will prove you. Do you have eune account?

Edited: Or it will be more simple if you would like to play one normal game with me and I'm sure you will be able to see if im lieing or not.

Just bought the lunar godess Diana and she is fun, but I still need some tips and tricks to take my play to the next level. I kinda die to much, but I always get more kills than deaths so I have that going for me which is nice. I mainly use her in the jungle.

Try to power farm early game it's harder in the new jungle, in S5 you could always farm to level 5/6 and back with enough gold for runeglaive, not sure that's possible anymore.

item 3115 is absolutely core on her in the jungle, imo. I pretty much always rush it after runeglaive which should be item 1402 version.

After that item 3285 for burst & MS (my preferred item), item 3089 for damage, or item 3157 item 3001 for survival.

item 3027 is good on her in lane, but pretty bad on her in the jungle.

Lategame doesn't hesitant to sell item 1402 for item 3100.

MiracleMorg941 votes

Why in the world would you sell your jungler item? You need that for smite on baron and dragon. Put lich bane in your regular lineup but don't throwout the main item you need as a jungler.

The best thing I can tell you is to save your R for when your target is marked with Q. The 2nd best thing I can tell you is to NOT go in with R unless you can easily commit to the kill. I see so many people use R way too early, just because an enemy is marked.

Thanks for the tip, I often go in with the R even when I cant kill the target. Gotta be more patient. Thanks for the advice

People still don't know about the misaya combo, where if you have under 50ish ping and also possess a good reaction speed you can actually ult and then q mid ult (need to press it at just the right time).

hermescostello1 votes

im seeing a hella lot of comments that im not going to read but my tips are probably what youve been hearing. diana doesn't have much kill potential before level 6. you can try some things at level 4 (put two points into q at 3 and try to max q as soon as possible), but honestly it's cleaner at level 6 and then push your lane a bit so you can roam for kills in other lanes.

her basic combo: q + r her basic combo with a shield (recommended for most damage) q + w + r when they run: q + w + r ---(they run)--> e double ult: q + w + r + q + r

your mindset with diana should be hitting them with your q and then ulting them to gap close. remember you don't have any way to run out besides flash like other champions. why? because unlike what a lot of people tend to want to think you're not an assassin. your burst ap is because you're a mage.

build zhonya's first so that you can use that to escape near death situations where your team can come up and save you. build abyssal next if you want mr. build void staff before abyssal for when THEY build magic resist. just build a lot of ap items after that. a lot of people don't reccomend getting nashor's because "it's not worth it", but others claim it will be good bc it'll make the most out of her passive. i don't really care either way because i just ult for kills most of the time.

she's not a hard champion. not the easiest, but definitely not impossible to learn. i don't want to sound like one of the jerks that thinks a champion is easy when other people have a hard time with them, but she's pretty easy to play since one strategy tends to be enough for her. if you're doing bad with her then just keep practicing. good luck! let me know if you need help.

***EDIT: i play diana mid mostly. i've played her jg and top as well. i've also played against diana's mid and top. she's viable in those three areas. she's supposed to be more of a jungler, but there are better junglers out there. i find it's better to play her mid and then roam/gank for kills because of her lack of kill potential before 6. champions that have kill potential at level 3 are better junglers.
