Idea about DCs

This is just a random though, so I'm more than likely overlooking some reason for this to be a bad idea, but...

Would it be good for a DC'd player to cause the team with the advantage to gain decreased gold and/or exp?

Maybe not passive gold, but from kills for sure, maybe from objectives, maybe even slightly less from creeps/monsters.

Or would it be better to slightly increase the gold/exp gained by the team with the disadvantage?

Or maybe both, .. idk.

Again, this just came from nowhere. I'm sure something like this has been considered before.

My personal terrible oppinion on this is, instead of looking at gold b/c i could see players complaing about it. In ranked, they should not subtract LP if you lose because its not your fault someone dc'd. And im not sure if the enemy team should gain LP if they win or not, b/c it could inflate people LP scores, so maybe if some dc's in ranked the game should not change anyones LP. In norms tho, meh who cares. I guess they could turn the dc'd player into an intermediate bot so that at least its not a constant 4 v 5, other games like dota 2 do this and it works fine

Imagine then, a group who is in queue together and losing, they say hey "charlie" dc so we don't lose LP.

Next game, they are losing and charlie tells sam its his turn, and so on and so on... to avoid LP loss you would have people exploit the system.

There is no winning with this scenario. Considering the actual skill of the bots, it would be good for the enemy, they would just farm the bot the whole game and get fed off the bot.

obviously their would be a penalty for dc'ing so you wouldnt do this

Nah, they would do this. It can happen and will be abused. Some players are more than willing to take a fall for a group of friends.

Interesting idea. Sort of compensating the team for being shorthanded. It would speed up the end of the game either way...based on current algorithms within the game. I can see some exploits based on this though, unfortunately.

I'm curious how you think this would be exploited?

Not saying that you're wrong, I just don't see how it would work.

Two methods automatically come to mind:

  1. Let's say we have a team that is losing and is starting to be pushed in. A squishy support who is already behind in levels leave the game to give his side an increase in coin (and possibly items) to help them temporarily fend off the other side.
  2. Let's say we have a really bad jungler on one side. If he starts falling behind in farm and is not able to contribute to team fights, it would be of benefit to the team for that player to temporarily leave the game and then re-enter. (That is, the team would be stronger without him than with him.)

Also, it would be problematic in terms of calculating LP and Mastery Grades. So, while the idea is intriguing, I am not convinced it is do-able.

Addtionally, because rubber band mechanism exists. It means if you are really behind in lvl, you get increased exp from kills and minions.

These players can easily catch up in levels after a few kills, making the system more easily abused.

People have already pretty much summed it up as to why this is a bad idea but there's just one more point I'd like to add - it would increase toxicity in the game.

Example: Player A does really poorly in game and is unable to contribute much to his team. Player B-E flame him extremely harshly to try to make him leave. This applies to both the LP idea and the EXP/GOLD idea.
