No longer gives an eyeball for ward takedown

????

Isn't that the whole point? This tier is supposed to be dedicated to vision control, and the name of this rune is EYEBALL collection. .. as in VISION.

I'd actually prefer to go the opposite direction and remove the champion takedown / assist bounty.

Not a big fan of kill effects. I think takedowns is just a better way of doing kill-type rewards.

But yeah, keep the vision row about vision.

Terozu11 votes

Because Duskblade makes stacking it too easy.

ZackTheWaffleMan16 votes

you know what else duskblade makes too easy?

#getting kills to stack this rune

ModAcademy Kayn8 votes

Yeah, but wasn't that introduced before Duskblade got it's Vision passive? I'm rusty on my patch timeline, so I could be wrong, but it's just free damage for any assassin who isn't ahead, but can afford a Duskblade. Now if you want to get your full amount of damage from the rune, you need to get a collective 20 kill contribution, which is like, a lot.

So it's kinda less damage in the early game, which isn't what people here want?

Elite4Runner32 votes

The Blackout passive was added to Dusblade in 6.22

Runes Reforged was Pre-Season 8

This rune should reward players for denying vision from the enemy. If that leads to an early power spike, that is perfectly fine.

The game SHOULD NOT be completely centered around champion takedowns. Vision control is a very important part of the game and should be encouraged / rewarded.

ModAcademy Kayn8 votes

Wow, time really flies huh? That's a long while back. Alright, my new devils advocate then: Removing Vision is it's own reward. That may sound like a dad like answer, but, Riot has already stated how powerful they see Vision as, and how back in the past, vision has lead to a lack of risk taking. This is why Riot seems to have a vendetta on Vision already. You're already rewarded with removing the enemy's safety net against Ganks, and suprises, I wouldn't be surprised if they thought that was reason enough to not need to tack on extra damage, a sorta "Win more" reward.

Elite4Runner8 votes

You are already awarded a lot more from getting a kill than you are for taking down a ward.

Anu3isII3 votes

Yes and no. If your opponents don't take any risks, killing them will be hard without some "surprise" factors. One of them being most of the time vision.

Denying vision leads to unexpected jungle ganks, roams, easy dives and, overall, easy kills. I think everyone had a match where they were behind and lacked the vision to even go in jungle without being murdered.

From the opposite view, knowing opponents level of vision and having vision across the map can lead to very easy picks for your assassin or team.

All in all, kills do offer an immediate bonus (lots of Gold), but vision (or lack of it) becomes one of the main factors in killing an opponent.

Elite4Runner4 votes

That is true, .. but I could see the argument going either way.

I honestly don't like the idea of a rune simply becoming "kills = stats"

If that is the result, fine, .. but I think there should be something that makes this situational or ties to vision in some way.

Anu3isII1 votes

Imo, the rune simply is a ball of stats that Riot should consider reworking it. Ghost Poro and Zombie Ward are two vision oriented Runes that are far more interesting and interactive than Eyeball Collection, resulting in more counterplay and higher risk/reward.

If they want to make it a vision oriented rune, I can't see the problem of changing it to to consider only Ward takedowns. For most Mid Lane Assassins/Burst Mages I build Scanner and AD champs can get Duskblade too. The only possible problem is that taking wards is less riskier than kills, which may be the actual reason behind this change, to encourage risky plays in favour of higher rewards.

Still, I think they should take a look at it again.

I wouldn't be surprised if most native English speakers still messed that one up.

Yo wtf? Do we really need more emphasis on champion killing in this game? The game is already heavily rewarding in that aspect, cutting back from people who want to participate in the vision game of League is a bad move IMO.

Blood jar? Organ collection?

Uproar about this rune... but not the vision changes to support items, low ward timers, green ward removal, green smite removal, and systematic reduction of overall vision in the game including the scrying plants and duskblade passive for multiple seasons?

I honestly thought more people would complain when they removed the item actives from the support items even. That was half of what made support role fun. RIP face of the mountain shield and team speed up on talisman. Although happy to see spooky ghosts back on Twin Shadows item 3905 .

floo5 votes

Bruh this is like one thread in comparison to almost daily complaints about vision being less and less accessible or every negative feedback to support item nerfs ever

Anu3isII5 votes

item 2065 is the new talisman. I think Riot stated something about Face of the Mountain, but I don't remember. Probably that it clashes with item 3109 item 3190 in terms of role.

And about reduction in vision, it has been a theme discussed every year to the point where we simply accept that they will never change it back.

SpaghettiVase2 votes

I think it clashes with guardian which is why they didn’t add it

SanKakU1 votes

I still miss green smite but what are we going to do? Buy Twin Shadows? Yeah sorry, but that doesn't work too well on champions with no AP scaling.

Tim From Work1 votes

I think they’re removing the ward count to give the other runes more viability (as in you can choose to try and snowball off kills or choose to play more around vision not necessarily getting the best of both worlds in one rune) although the Ghost Poro change leaves me wondering if anyone would ever take zombie ward over it cause I hardly see it as is and Ghost Poro just seems like a better version now

Elite4Runner1 votes

I could see that, but now it is just, .. "more kills = more stats" .. It has nothing to do with vision control.

And I do acknowledge each tier doesn't need to be related in regards to the same gameplay mechanic, .. but I really enjoyed how this tier seemed to do that and I would prefer to see others adopt this trend than to see this one lose it.

Sir Saltarin1 votes

And they keep nerfing Domimation, they want me to go PtA or Comet even more.

Fízz v21 votes

My question is why they are nerfing multiple domination runes now. Isnt domination a garbage tree since electrocute nerfs? xd Excluding overbuffed HoB on some champs

ZaneShadow1 votes

Eh, its probably healthier, even if it’s mechanically not as interesting or thematically unique.

Tormentula1 votes

With the nerfs everybody will probably gravitate to taking zombie ward. Zombie/Ghost rn is more popular then eyeball in high mmr anyway, this just makes the decision even more convincing, and with ghost poro's changes I'm confident we'll be sticking with zombie ward.

Idk why they keep gutting damage from the domination and sorcery tree, there's like nothing left to the point we actually are taking zombie ward for damage and aftershock is contesting everything in damage.

I remember when we could have 26 AP + 15% attack speed from runes, on top of mastery's natural talent, double edge'd sword, sorcery, fresh blood, assassin, percision, and greenfather's gift. Who is complaining about damage in runes reforged lol.

Rathar Dashing1 votes

What they should do is make it so that every champion takedown is worth 2 eyeballs, distributed among the players who got the takedown. A solo-kill would be worth two, two champions getting a kill together would be one eyeball each, and after that the eyeballs go to the killer and whoever got the most recent assist, or however Pyke ult works.

Penta Penguin1 votes

Duskblade is a ridiculous fucking item that does way too much.

Elite4Runner8 votes

Would so much rather see the Blackout passive get nerfed than to see this change go through.

astralwit1 votes

Agreed. You should get at least half a stack per ward. It currently stacks ~20-25 minutes for me and if that goes through, it won't even be stacked by 30 some games.

One by one, Domination masteries have been made weaker. Electrocute. Ravenous. Dark Harvest (absolutely awful right now compared to the late game fantasy and skill expression it used to have - yes, really), Sudden Impact, Cheap Shot. It's still best on the right champs but quite a few are much weaker now and scaling was especially hurt.

brutąl1 votes

additional 10 ap when you collect all eyeballs. WOW SUCH A BIG DEAL, WHAT A HUGE NERF. ASSASSINS NOW ARE LITTERALLY UNPLAYABLE, WITHOUT 10 AP NOW MY KATARINA IS COMPLETELY GARBAGE...

Eh their music is over rated

Also I checked and yeah, I forgot wards add stacks. I usually play top lane so ward dominance is rarely balanced out. Usually one person pushes the other so far that they can NEVER place a ward if losing and can NEVER clear the wards the enemy puts if they're losing.

Floupi1 votes

Then just rename it to something without "vision"

Elite4Runner1 votes

Yes, that is the main problem I have with this ..
