Lee sin is OP even though his winrate is low,Brand is underrated because his winrate is high.
Make up your fucking mind.

I'd argue Lee is overloaded rather than overpowered, of course...

So should he be buffed because his winrate is low then?

his kit is absurdly strong only skill cap prevents him having high winrate, his skill ranges needs to be lowered to match other champion powers

Why? what's wrong with having a high skillcap(that's what you meant right? or you do mean skillshot ranges?)?
He is a prime example of Power Creep imo. A lot older champions have almost no mobility while Lee Sin is on speed. His kit has too much compared to pretty much every other champion.
Lee was added back in S1, in the same time period that produced BRAND and NOCTURNE. And with the exception of a few changes, has generally gotten weaker over time.
In what way does he have anything to do with Power Creep?

well mobility creep is basically power creep(through mobility),where riot favors more mobile champions over less mobile ones(and since newer champions tend to have more mobility,it's pretty much standard powercreep),so...sorta.
Power/mobility creep is the tendency of new and more recently reworked kits to have more mobility. Thus the tendency for the generally played champions to be more mobile. It's got nothing to do with Riot favoring one side or the other and everything to do with the new content added into the game. Thus, Lee has NOTHING to do with mobility creep.

Power/mobility creep is the tendency of new and more recently reworked kits to have more mobility.
It's important to note(as admitted by riot) that there isn't a serious price payed for this mobility, meaning you get the same kit as immobile champions on top of mobility, which is obviously more powerful.
Thus the tendency for the generally played champions to be more mobile.
That's not it,take xerath for example(not the greatest, but whatever) he is an immobile champion made to work, there are so many older immobile champions(like brand) who are just ignored,I mean look at the dfg compensation, ahri was buffed and is now very strong, veigar got nerfed, and morde, somehow I'm guessing if he starts seeing serious competitive play he will get nerfed,as far as balancing goes riot gives stronger kits and spends more time on mobile champions.
It's got nothing to do with Riot favoring one side or the other
It has everything to do with riot favoring one side over the other, mobile champions ARE NOT inherently stronger than immobile ones, riot just chooses to make them(generally) that way.
and everything to do with the new content added into the game. Thus, Lee has NOTHING to do with mobility creep.
mobility creep is a bit different than power creep(in the way lol is balanced),first of all, newer champions are generally eventually brought to a stronger spot and given more mobility than older ones,so that's classic power creep, but also to a large extent old mobile champions are given priority over old immobile ones, and that's different.
I'm going to go against the usual boards circlejerk here and say that Riot knows that mobility is a problem. Generally, they are working to fix it. Note that there are many mobile champions out there who don't see play BECAUSE they pay for that mobility (see the states of Yasuo, Fizz, and Akali for some fairly recent nerfs) and Riot is trying to make sure the rest follow. The Veigar/Morde fiasco also contained one of the most destructive nerfs to a traditional mobility champion this season (Kassadin) and was aimed specifically at his mobility. Don't cherry pick Riot's balance disasters from the past few patches and say it extends all the way back to season 1.
You'll note I said "Thus the TENDENCY for the generally played champs to be more mobile." Xerath isn't everyone and by and large, we've seen more mobility in the form of the current jungle meta, the general trend for top lane, and in the ADC line than ever before. Xerath was actually notable for being the EXCEPTION. More mobile champs (especially the newer ones) HAVE been seeing play (see Rek'Sai, Kalista, pre-nerf Azir, Gnar, etc.).
I still don't see where Riot's been favoring mobile champions. You've got about three patches of "proof" that Riot's been nerfing the immobile ones and buffing their mobile counterparts here. That's not NEAR long enough to say that Lee has anything to do with mobility creep.
And since when have "old mobile champions been given priority over immobile ones"? Reworks/retunes have been predominantly aimed at older champions, which contain some of the most immobile folks in the league. Look at Sion, Xerath, Viktor, Soraka, etc. Yes, Lee specifically has had a consistent lack of balance changes addressed his way. But Lee also isn't everyone, nor is he the entire mobile crowd.

I'm going to go against the usual boards circlejerk here and say that Riot knows that mobility is a problem.Generally, they are working to fix it.
Honestly,I'm pretty sure they do,but at the same time they don't exactly view mobility as a problem the same way most people do,and they are working to fix what they see as the problem, not what others see as the problem.
Note that there are many mobile champions out there who don't see play BECAUSE they pay for that mobility (see the states of Yasuo, Fizz, and Akali for some fairly recent nerfs) and Riot is trying to make sure the rest follow.
The issue is I don't view any of them as champions for whom the dust has settled(except akali, which actually never was particularly strong in competitive, just obnoxious out of it),I wouldn't be surprised to see fizz/yasuo buffs in the next 2-3 patches(they are a bit preoccupied at the moment).
The Veigar/Morde fiasco also contained one of the most destructive nerfs to a traditional mobility champion this season (Kassadin) and was aimed specifically at his mobility. Don't cherry pick Riot's balance disasters from the past few patches and say it extends all the way back to season 1.
fine,if you want to look at the larger picture, mobility has been a very big issue for I don't even know how long, then you say they view it as a problem as well(ergo yasuo and fizz nerfs),but then why was yasuo released to begin with, and what the bloody fuck is kalista?
You'll note I said "Thus the TENDENCY for the generally played champs to be more mobile." Xerath isn't everyone and by and large, we've seen more mobility in the form of the current jungle meta, the general trend for top lane, and in the ADC line than ever before. It's not just that, xerath is fucking retarded, mobility is his own counter and yet he is balanced around it,guess what happens when he doesn't face hyper mobile nonsense?
I still don't see where Riot's been favoring mobile champions. You've got about three patches of "proof" that Riot's been nerfing the immobile ones and buffing their mobile counterparts here. That's not NEAR long enough to say that Lee has anything to do with mobility creep.
Fair enough, open pick/ban stats for any tourney of your choice, tell me what you see.
And since when have "old mobile champions been given priority over immobile ones"? Look at Sion, Xerath, Viktor, Soraka, etc. Yes, Lee specifically has had a consistent lack of balance changes addressed his way. But Lee also isn't everyone, nor is he the entire mobile crowd.
And how are these guys doing competitively? I mean veigar recently got some work into him,do you think that made him more competitive(establishing mobile champions as his counters),do you think veigar players are happy with that? now in contrast what do you think ahri players think about her changes? now if you want to call this cherry picking again, once again, open pick/ban statistics for a tourney of your choice and tell me what you see.
Mobility is a big issue because riot loves their counterplay(and honestly I myself find point click hard cc silly),yet seem to forget mobility preys on it,I mean on one hand they call veigar's old stun obnoxious(fair enough),but when kalista dodges any and all skillshots without even trying that's somehow good? mobility(at extremes) is toxic, and can only be fought with other toxic mechanics(like veigars stun),all hyper mobile trashes should be nerfed to the ground and left to rot(to be clear,I wouldn't say lee is hyper mobile,he is borderline, akalia, kalista, yasuo, kassa, fizz, ahri on the other hand...),and yet somehow riot fails to see this obvious reactions of "fight spammable dashes with point click",and will view veigar and annie as the problem, instead of just a side effect of the real problem,"fight mobility with reliability(aka low counterplay)"
I didn't say anything about him needing to be buffed. What he needs is some form of rework along the lines of what Riot abandoned months ago, because you can't really safely add power to a kit that does as much as Lee's.
almost 20 junglers nerfed this season, lee sin isnt one of them
[deleted]
A champion can be underrated and underpowered at the same time.
Do elaborate.
Those two are not mutually exclusive. Also, neither are strongly correlated to unadjusted winrates. Winrates are effected by pick/ban rates more than they are by either how strong a champion is or if the champion is underrated.
Honestly winrates just confuse me,there are some rules of thumb, but mostly it seems like in a serious conversation(where people know the champion) they just add very little to it.
The best thing to do is really look at pick/ban rates. They have historically correlated much better with how over/underpowered a champion is than winrate and there is no reason to believe that phenomenon will change in the near future.
I agree. Can we nerf fucking thresh yet?
But Thresh has same winrate as Lee Sin so obviously he doesn't need a nerf...

I get this as a serious response way too many times.
better nerf ashe.
The choices should have been:
Lee OP because its popular to circlejerk about this Lee actually isn't OP because I actually play the game

Well I had to appeal to a certain bias of people because these forums are filled with retards,I could've as easily replaced lee with the more obvious, better established le broken(which if you think that she is weak in solo q,I would suggest you get your head tested, but so many people here are so stupid I had to take something...with a more well established op status),the whole point of this thread is to make people face their hypocrisy and stop skipping the fence on winrate, either go against something which is well established to be op,or fucking stop these braindamaged winrate arguments("ashe is actually strong hurr durr, you just need to learn to play it hurr durr, just see her winrate durr hurr, too bad you're not as awesome at seeing the hidden potential of things like me and are just a mindless sheep, durrrrr, hurrr").
Lee actually isn't OP because I actually play the game
He is op,but the player needs to be capable and that doesn't happen much below diamond.
I don't understand how anybody could call Lee OP when the average boards user hasn't seen a barely sentient Lee in their life, much less a good one.

Well I would guess it's mostly split between being sick of seeing him played in competitive and confirmation bias, even though I suspect even mediocare players can bring out his opness(a plat with 100 lee and 100 pantheon(insert mediocare jungler here) games should probably be overall stronger on lee...I think)
Lee Sin is played by nearly everyone, those who are good on him and those who are really bad with him, because #LCSBIGPLAYS. Brand is only really played by his mains and those who are good with him, because he is very underrated so his winrate is bound to be higher than Lee's. Winrates are terrible way to judge if champion is op or not.

No,It's because #balance(or more accurately,#lackthereofit).
Brand is only really played by his mains and those who are good with him, because he is very underrated
Not playing a weak champion IS NOT underrating him,not picking up an op one because pros aren't playing him is,but thing is pros generally react faster than most people, people tend to forget that if pros don't realize a champion is op yet,it's very unlikely the average player will(and frankly it's downright retarded to expect them to do that, but these forums are filled with swagtalk).
so his winrate is bound to be higher than Lee's. Winrates are terrible way to judge if champion is op or not.
Pretty much, the op champions will always be much more popular which will drag down their winrate.
Well yeah I agree, you might have worded the point I was trying to make better.
lee sin win rate is low because there arent many players who can play the champion good, its mostly a skill based champ and people dont have that much skill to play it really good so i think thats why its win rate is low as for op i totally agree if someone knows how to play lee well he can carry the whole game

Which would in turn mean easy champions have an inflated winrate, and we are back to where we started.
also, care to explain to me why ashe's winrate is higher than that of graves? That stat just tells very little.
Winrate only tells you much if its super polar one way or another. Mega death 60% warwick. Or 30% veigar. But in cases like ashe, only her mains play ashe, thus inflating the stat.
His win rate in diamond is under 50% as well and if a diamond player picks up a champion they usually know how to play that champion. And any champion can turn op if you can play them.
And any champion can turn op if you can play them.
That's not how it works.
I meant they way he said "he is op if you can play him". Which turns any champion "op" becasue their damage output will turn sky high if you are able to play them.

Not really, some champions have flat out more power when mastered, these are basically the champions you see in competitive,as the players practice a lot and since they are kinda payed to win, they go with the strongest picks once mastered.
Yes a some champions will have more power if mastered. But power is defined by the meta what is good and what is bad. So some champions will turn stronger( not gonna use the word op anymore cause in my previous posts I have not really meant it) if meta changes, and that meta change might come from the game in whole or in the way you build a champion. For example I personally think
is alot stronger then people think , now I don't call her in the slighest way overpowerful or something new pros will notice, but she is definatly something worth consediring in champ select. Pros thinks she is underpowered and almost a troll pick. And that's because she is defined bad by the meta. But if mastered she has amazing potential and works the same way
does and if shaco is mastered he is really strong and can snowball games hard. He might never see play in lcs as he doesn't bring anything to the team in teamfights where others outshine him, the exact same problem evelynn has. But both of them is powerful if mastered and has heavy snowball potenital.

A meta change doesn't come from how you build a champion, that simply doesn't fall under the very broad definition of meta. as far as meta shifts,I don't know if you've noticed but lol's meta is extreamly stale and stagnant, sure some dominant picks change, but they don't do so meaningfully(For example all meta junglers right now are focused on damage mobility=early pressure),we are past the point where we can use meta shift as an excuse, the meta doesn't shift, when it will there will be something to talk about, most obvious example is xerath, hyper mobile bursters are clearly his counters, yet he has been overtuned to the point he can face them.

I agree that some champions really are notably better in solo q vs competitive(just don't tell that to retards, they'll never let it go),but there needs to be logic behind it,for example invisibility tends to do great against uncoordinated teams(though then again, there's not much counterplay to it...),whereas I would feel that shen would work better in competitive since that allows better usage of his ult(though it's not particularly obvious,as there might be more awareness to him missing),but there needs to be logic behind it,for example saying le blanc is stronger in competitive is retarded and senseless,we are talking about a hyper mobile assassin, wouldn't she be way more effective against an uncoordinated teams(same goes for assassins in general),there may be some sense in questioning the state of eve and shaco, there's no sense questioning that of lee or leblanc.
P.S I would actually love to hear a competitive player explain why they feel shaco is weak as a competitive pick, and what they think of his state in solo q vs competitive.
Why do you pick out Brand specifically? His win rate is above 50%, but only barely (51.94% on Lolking)... meanwhile, Heimerdinger, Sejuani, Sion, Katarina, and Malzahar all have over 54% winrates.
But no, as TemporalDonut pointed out, Lee is not OP, his kit is just overloaded. It has way too much utility for the amount of damage it also brings to the table, and it's extremely forgiving. Lee doesn't pay for being out of position the same way Fiddles, Varus, or Brand do.

First of all 52% is quite a lot above 50%,his winrate is still higher than most champions,he is also often mentioned in the winrate context and that's mostly why I chose him.

You just rephrased the term OP here. the moment you have extra strength compared to a champion but no weaknesses(or not meaningful ones) to offset that you become stronger than them by definition,do it to enough champions and you just become OP overall.
I mean seriously what do you think being op means?
I define OP as meaning a champion is quite difficult to beat in most situations, or cannot be countered or defeated without difficulty or specific item buys... think early Vlad and Morde, when hextechs stacked, or release Vayne, who was extremely overtuned. Lee isn't that. He has too much in his kit and doesn't pay enough for being a jack-of-all trades. Thus, he's overloaded but not overpowered.
Both things are bad for balance.

Release zyra(let's ignore the notion of release support zyra for a moment) was still a squishy immobile mage, she still had counters,I wouldn't really call her balanced.
A niche pick can easily be op,when a champion auto wins when not countered something is wrong,"having a counter doesn't make a champion balanced".(Pretty sure this has been stated by a red...somewhere...)
The moment you have a champion who brings everything his competition brings AND more,he's more than overloaded,he is also overpowered, because in every game with such a case there will eventually come a time where this champion will pull off something the others can't do,while doing the same thing prior to that, obviously that is stronger.
I guess we're just debating over semantics then, since I already indicated how I define OP.
[{quoted}](name=Kitten of Evil,realm=NA,application-id=3ErqAdtq,discussion-id=zdYAV86V,comment-id=00020001000000000000,timestamp=2015-03-02T23:30:47.419+0000)

Not exactly, for most people "being op" carries certain implications, these champions dictate pick/ban phase even before they were picked,if you play very seriously you are let's say "highly encouraged" to play them and losing to them often feels cheap as if the games wasn't played on even ground if you don't pick op yourself, your definition doesn't imply these negative effects(in contrast to mine),and overall most people see "op" as a negative term,so it's not exactly semantics,I would argue that your definition of op doesn't fit with the views of most people on what being op means.
I mean you can stick with it but it's just like defining chocolate as key(random words replaced here),all it's gonna do is cause confusion and miscommunication.
You're speaking as though you know what most people think.
[{quoted}](name=Kitten of Evil,realm=NA,application-id=3ErqAdtq,discussion-id=zdYAV86V,comment-id=0002000100000000000000000000,timestamp=2015-03-03T00:28:26.717+0000)
You're speaking as though you know what most people think.
Well, you tell me then,do you think people think lee is op? If not,the evidence you have implies that you did in fact get the definition right,otherwise...
A single champion shouldn't have an engage, a disengage, sustain, utility, poke, aoe, 2 gap closers, hard cc, soft cc, high bases, high scaling, and 7 different abilities.
He is probably the safest first pick. Fits into any composition, can do any number of roles, can build any number of ways, and has no specific counter. There is no strategy to a team picking him. While he excels at nothing he also has no weaknesses, other than the ability of the person playing him.
Overpowered, no. I believe the overloaded term from earlier is much more indicative. And I agree with it wholeheartedly.

So thresh shouldn't be? I agree,wait...thresh has hard cc.

It's actually not true, like it or not sejuani is legimately stronger than lee in the lategame, the issue is early pressure is just too valuable to give up(nearly at any cost),and lee does in fact excel at that.
Overpowered, no. I believe the overloaded term from earlier is much more indicative. And I agree with it wholeheartedly.
sigh I can remove all of his damage and scalings,he will still be overloaded,he will also be useless and never picked, overloaded tends to mean a champion is just too generalistic(ironically ball of stats has the same implication) so he either sucks and never seen,or is picked every game, the latter means that he is both overloaded and overpowered.

He doesnt need a nerf. I'd rather see swain/vi/volibear/riven nerfs.

He doesnt need a nerf. I'd rather see swain/vi/volibear/riven nerfs.
Am so tired of this nonsense, just because there are one or two champions who are clearly in a silly spot themselves(and no,not swain volibear riven) doesn't make lee balanced,as always he is still stronger than 90% of junglers.
Like who?
"Man gotta nerf Lee, he's a stronger Jungler than Xin Zhao, I can't believe this injustice! It's almost like nobody wants to play or watch Xin!"
Like who?
"Man gotta nerf Lee, he's a stronger Jungler than Xin Zhao, I can't believe this injustice! It's almost like nobody wants to play or watch Xin!"
like everyone who's not vi/j4/reksai/nidalee
Objectively speaking, Lee Sin is better than every jungler except the top four. He's a mobile, tanky dmg dealer with a shtload of utility, CC and an across the board high power curve.
He's a generalist that outclasses every specialist except these four, whom are over the top at what they do. He's overloaded to f*ck and is entirely too versatile. To top it off, he has a huge fan base and a staggering pick/ban rate, and has since S3.

Remember s3 annie(/early s4),right after she saw play at worlds? She wasn't a generalist, people just like shoving that every time but that case was so obvious that people didn't dare mention it,still she was crazy op,why? because initiation was basically always good, and she was so great in it and so overbearing(ba dum tss) in lane you would still be better off with annie than anything else,in complete disregard to anything.
What all of these guys bring j4/reksai/vi/nidalee is a lot of mobility damage and mediocare cc(in the case of nidalee, even more damage instead) which simply translates into heavy early game pressure(with some scaling into late),which is basically the most important part about the jungler,I mean sejuani really does outscale lee,she gets damage for building tank...on top of even more cc,but in the hands of a capable jungler,it's just never worth the pressure he is capable of applying early.
Is lee really more mobile than vi/reksai(maybe a bit)/j4/nidalee? does he really have more damage than them(maybe a bit more than j4,but actually less than nidalee)? does he really have more cc/utility(more than nida actually)?
lee isn't thresh(who is overloaded out of his ass),he actually does specifically excel at something(early game pressure, and somewhat falls off late),it's just that the thing he excels at is the most important thing for a jungler for very long,so he remains op for ages.
