Sion doesn't need numbers tweaks

Sion's numbers are just fine. His health stacking works quite well, resulting in him almost always having the highest health in a given game excepting a full stack cho. His damage numbers are all healthy. His shield absorbs a useful but not broken amount of damage. Where sion needs help is his mechanics. His W is, at least when maxed, too slow to detonate. His Q is too easy to counter. His passive is too easy to ignore. His ult is very fickle. Pretty much the only solid/reliable ability he has is his E, which is a useful even in its nerfed state.

With this in mind, I suggest the following changes to make sion into the undead juggernaut we all know he should be:

  1. Change Q so that it detonates at the current charge level when interrupted, similarly to how Nunu detonates his ult. Remove the reduced cooldown on interruption.
  2. Scale the detonation delay on his W from 3 seconds at all levels to 3/2.75/2.5/2.25/2 seconds.
  3. Give him slightly better response when canceling his ult early so he has a chance to still damage enemies dashing at the last second, maybe half the delay it currently has.

With just these three changes, I think sion would become much more rewarding to use without turning him into an unkillable death-god-zombie.

Sion

edit: I purposefully left off any changes to his passive. If I were to make a change there, I would change death surge to remove all cc effects currently on him, similar to quicksilver, in addition to the move speed.

Agreed, the Numbers are fine, these are changes, that he would benefit from without morphing into OP Tier. Nice Work, Nebuul

i stacked almost 1k health with him a cpl times. and it was around a 35-45 minute match as jungler. my problem with him is that. hes very easy to get around. literally. his abilities including his ult. are too easy to dodge. his W simply sucks. his E is the only really good ability.

I've had the best luck by maxing his W first.

I don't like Sion's mana costs. I think that is his biggest issue. If they reverted the mana cost nerfs, I think he will be in a much better spot.

Unfortunately, since the Sion nerfs, most of the items Sion likes to buy also got nerfed giving him direct and indirect nerfs. He has not been compensated for those nerfs yet.

I tend to get around... 500-odd health from the passive, on average. Which puts his "base" health on par with Tryndamere, so I'm cool with that. I think that change to his Q would honestly be a bit too hard-hitting. All it means is people have to just... Displace him from the side and now he's wasted a cooldown. Honestly, Sion's biggest issue right now is that he's somehow wound up as an early-game champion with a bad mid-game and decent late-game when a lot of people want him to be a late-game supertank.

I wonder how that even happened. I find myself bullying the other laner a lot when I play him top.

It's just the nature of his Q and his E, really. Q gives him great zoning, E gives him great ability to punish farming. Anybody who's not overly mobile and CC-heavy usually just gets beaten about by Sion in lane.

That's the wierd part. I max my W first to get the most out of the shield, which has wave clear and gank survival. Yet I can still bully people.

Shen, Fiora, and Darius are all I can remember who bully me.

Well, maybe it's just the nature of his kit and scalings? High base damage, W and E's damage only scales with AP and Q and R are very unreliable. Sion can max pretty much any of his abilities first and still bully pretty well. Q for massive wave control, IE against Nasus. W for survivability and decent damage if they don't focus you, against, say... Renekton or Fiora. E for high-damage poke, against, say... Gnar.

Edit: Also, I just looked it up. Sion has some of the highest base health regen in the game. Gives him a sort of "pseudo-sustain". Same deal with Shen, actually.
