should really look into lowering MMR for inactive players

especially those plat+ players who barely play 10 games a season just to place high and then wait till next season to do it again.

im talking like 30 ranked games in 3 years.

its extremely fishy for them to be this high on the ladder.

cough cough ranked rewards only cough cough

at least introduce some form of extreme decay, like 6 months of nothing.

That's already in place for Plat and above. See below:

"Platinum, Diamond, Master, and Challenger are all subject to decay. In Platinum and Diamond, after 28 days of inactivity in any ranked queue, you'll begin losing LP based on your current tier. Every seven days after that, you'll lose LP until you play a match in that queue. Diamond players lose 50 LP each time they decay, platinum players lose 35."

Can you demote from Plat 5 to Gold 1 with that, or are you stuck at Plat5 0 LP? Or can you go in negative LP like with dodges?

You end up at gold 1 with 75 LP if you don't play at all and decay to the max. Your MMR remains intact however.

This is why you can occasionally see pro player accounts who ended in gold, despite them being top tier challengers (and occasionally with top tier challenger mmr to boot).

Theres ranked decay as mentioned, but it doesn't affect MMR. This is probably for the better though, since if MMR decayed you'd have some really good players completely stomping people way worse than them. As it stands, when they do play their games to prevent decay, they're relatively fair ones that they stand a reasonable chance of losing.
