To all those people that hate how strong item 3504 item 3190 item 3107 are/have been. I say to you:

WELCOME TO A GAME WHERE SUPPORTS ARE BECOMING STRONGER

The time of treating supports like glorified mobile wards that are insignificant in a fight is gone. You need to take supports seriously and give them respect like a solo laner because Riot has been steadily increasing our power and it's a trend that is going to continue because support power still has room to grow. We will never be as strong as laners but we will be significant. Supports can be a threat via our utility and buffs and the sooner you figure that out the happier you will be. LOL has shifted into an age where their are 5 sources of power on each team and not just 4. Don't think that supports are weak. Don't think you can just easily 1v2 the bot lane duo because "Oh, it's just a support I can ignore them" We are not weak anymore. The longer we stay alive the longer we can disrupt, buff, and heal and that is something you cannot ignore anymore.

Supports are still shit, but they are indeed getting stronger, which is a very good thing. However, you miss the problems with supports and their items. They give too much benefit to auto-attackers and not enough benefits to everyone else.

I don't know about shit. There is certainly a ton more power that could be afforded to supports but look at how far supports have come! I started back in the day when supports bought 99 wards and were responsible for 100% of the vision. That was a dark time for supports. Recently, I've had games as Sona where I feel my constant buffs and healing won us the game. I've dueled 1v1 as Taric. The enemy team has to change their itemization to counter me as Soraka. Janna is the biggest pain in the ass for assassins and divers. Strength isn't measured solely in damage and tank stats anymore. Support's utility value has gotten quite high over the past couple season.

They give too much benefit to auto-attackers and not enough benefits to everyone else.

That I agree with. I wish there was a set of items to support an AP mage and their abilities. There is a crazy amount of focus on auto attacks at this time because it's assumed you will always be paired with an ADC.

Let me demonstrate it for you.

At the start of your next game, you will be required to have one of your members go AFK for the duration of the game. You don't know this is going to happen, so you can't build a team around it. Which role would you most prefer to be the one to go AFK? Correct, the support. That is the correct answer in 100% of realistic situations. A role that is always the weakest and least useful to the team cannot be anything but shit.

Nope, I'd vote no jungle. If we can withstand the early jungle pressure and have the right late game comp, technically possible to win. Janna Jinx baby!

support items are getting stronger, supports themselves are exactly the same as they have been before. Items being strong is good but when they are so strong that you are literally picking champions that can abuse them, then there is no choice and it just becomes the exact same thing as it has ever been except that now you have to choose a support or any champion for that matter that can abuse these items

That's like saying ADCs are exactly the same just AD items got stronger. Item purchases is a part of champion design just as much as the champion kit itself.

you still pick a Jinx for her late game carry potential. You don't pick an Ashe because of her late game carry potential but for her utility even though they can and more than likely will build the exact same items. Supports? you just pick whoever can use the items better. Supports are nothing but glorified items right now, you don't pick a Soraka because of her insane heals you pick her because she can maintain ardent active almost all the time the later the game goes. You pick Sona not because she is able to provide everyone with small buffs but because you can give ardent's effect to everyone. Every single support champion is picked based on the item and how they can use the item to the point that they live and die by the items. ADCs just pick whatever is strong on them but that doesn't mean that they suddenly stop being whatever it is they are supposed to be unlike supports who some even change their entire playstyle just so they can abuse an item

What you say speaks volumes to your inexperience with support champions. I would pick Janna into an enemy team with heavy dive potential. I would pick Sona into a team that has many AAers on it. I pick Taric into AD enemies and pick Leona when my team needs heavy engage. I go Zyra when we need AP. I pick Lulu to counter assassins. Soraka when the enemy is heavy AP. If you think supports are picked base on who uses what item better then you obviously don't play support or are a terrible support player. i would also point out that I often do not buy ardent first and still win games pretty well.
