Why does no one in game talk about a plan anymore?

After playing for ten years, my rank hasn't changed much, but I think I've improved a lot.

In season 3, I'd get Morg support, and they'd be ready with a dark shield the frame an enemy ability appears on screen.

Now, I get a Sivir adc, who can't time their own shield to block Morg's q. Ever, throughout the entire game.

Where's everyone's readiness to respond with the characters they choose?

Another thing I miss: actually talking with my team. It used to be that, 30 minutes in, people would start talking in chat about what we need to do to win that game. Maybe that would mean talking about when Yi should use q, or telling a teammate to wait for the enemy's ult before using their ability.

Nowadays, nobody talks to anyone. Nobody gives helpful advice in game. Nobody learns anything:

It used to feel like: you start the game, you're warming up, and maybe you can't time your sivir shield right away. By 35 minutes, now you're ready to pop that shield any time. You're getting together with your team. . getting a plan going.

Nowadays, I feel like I'm just on my own. People will be missing their skillshots at the start of the game, and they'll be missing their skillshots at the end of the game.

People are afraid to talk. Everything is taken as toxic and even honest helpful advice or strategic chatter is reported as harassment. The games culture is terrible and it’s all riots fault.
Toxic behavior is promoted while any chat is risking a ban.

Players got sick of chat being used to flame and many used the "/mute all" command to get through their games.

Riot recognized the players' desire to avoid communicating with possibly toxic allies and introduced disabling ally chat so that players have an even more convenient means of keeping their HUDs empty of distracting and possibly offensive text.

i gave a teammate some advice once,

they flamed me for the rest of the game.

You can't discuss anything nowadays because everyone else thinks they're better than you and know better and will flame you if you contradict their way of thinking. In the old days people were new and they weren't as blind to the fact that perhaps someone else knows better.

combo that with the fact that you can more easily get perma banned....

One must make the judgement if they really wanna stake their account just to advise the teammate when to go in.

Talking most of the time never works because they view it as an attack "Hey darius, you should look towards building armor rather then stacking MR vs their team comp because they are all AD" Darius: "stfu muted"

too busy flamming and acting like they are a streamer/funny guy.

as a jungler, i hate being told how to jungle. "gank at lvl 2-3".

Solo que rule numero uno.

If you can’t do it by yourself don’t fucking do it.

Talking AT ALL in chat is risking your account these days, that's why nobody talks anymore.

if i talk about a plan i would be considered toxic and possibly get banned, better just say nothing and just ping, and report anyone I feel is trolling at the end.

Its because theres more reasons not to communicate then there is to communicate:

Pros of communicating:

Hoping that maybe one teammate will listen to you

Pros of Not communicating:

You get to mute your team so they do not tilt you You can focus on the game You arent wasting time typing strategies that you know that no one will listen to Decreases your chances of getting chat restricted/banned

Bottom line Communicating is pointless because no one is going to do what you tell them to. Possibly different in high elo but for the vast majority of the community it is pointless. (i mean quite literally my last game took off all allies mute and someone said i was "trolling" bcz i was farming side lanes to become relevant again so of course put it right back on).

idk if i'm doing a wrong thing, but i mostly communicate via pings and friendly emotes like "Thumbs up" or happy faces. As well with sad faces if a battle goes wrong. Or spamming dance or similar if i'm having fun with my adc. It's just that i find it more immediate, mostly chat is ignored or words can be taken in a wrong way.

I kniw communicating via chat should be standard, but i don't rely on it much unless i'm the one reading.

Mages assassins and adcs dont care they just want to kill things and do the most damage. Junglers supports and tops dont say anything because anything they say comes off as crying because they fed.

  1. It's preseason and people are playing things they don't normally play, polluting results.

  2. It's preseason and people generally care less about winning, play in poorer conditions (drunk/high)

  3. Planning is directly counter-intuitive to people trying to protect their accounts from bans, and now we have self chat disable in our options, and a lot of people are using it.

its because the people who need to follow the plan arent the ones listening to it. Theyll flame anyone else for telling them different, so its pointless. Anyone on their game follows the plan, anyone outside their game (every team has at least 2) tells everyone else to fuck off

i dont communicate with my team at all unless im asking them to stop flaming and just play the game, or if they turn out to actually be friendly towards their teammates

otherwise i dont say anything bc i know that even if i ask a lane to rotate, they will tell me to kill myself and report me for harassment and trolling

SennaFirstPick12/26/2019, 3:06:41 PM2 votes

i feel like pings are now used to communicate quick strategies on the fly instead of planning beforehand through chat.

Exodus24712/26/2019, 6:10:08 PM2 votes

Hard to make a plan when (most) random teammates immidatly hate your guts and think its a singleplayer game, and the fact that you can die in 2 seconds and the game now revolves around who kills who fastest first and not said plan.

the oversensitive community is why the game is supposedly toxic.

My go to strat in jungle is invade the enemy buff they're not starting (usually top side) and I tell my team I'm taking it, and to ward mine at 1:25. Then I'll show myself so the enemy jungle goes for my buff, and we collapse.

80% of the time my team just sits there picking their noses while I spam ping the enemy in my own jungle and none of them move, none of them answer, and none of them notice. Half of those times they don't even ward.
