Thresh: Should not stick onto a spell shield

Just my opinion, but I don't think Thresh's hook should stick onto a spell shield.

Visually, what is this representing? His hook breaking through the spell shield, to latch onto the champion. The is not the definition of the spell shield.

Additionally, unlike Amumu--who immediately travels the his target--Thresh maintains significant power over an area for so long as his hook remains. That there's not way to diminish his power beyond dodging the hook, seems a mistake. Spell shields are already unpopular; this just feels like something they should do. I also think Thresh's hook should detach if you use a cleanse on it" like Fizz's fish detaching. It just feels unexpected, how persistent Thresh's hook is.

Most importantly: Thresh is already a really strong champion. He's always balls out tanky, he gets a really long ranged base attack, he has a bunch of CC, and, oh, attacking lowers his cooldown. If one hook gets blocked, he's got another one up in just a few seconds. He doesn't need to have this level of power.

I am 95% certain actual spell-shields (Or cleanse effects) do cause Thresh hook to fizzle. Are you referring to Morgana's black shield? That particular shield is not an actual spell-shield, it blocks magic damage and CC effects. Hence why you can still move after being hit by a Thresh hook, but the hook remains attached and Thresh is able to activate the second part of his Q.

Hm, now I am curious if Olaf ult, prevents the hook from landing, or breaks it if activated afterwards, or if it works just like Morg shield.

Unsure about before, but it will make it fizzle if used while hooked.

I think they actually gave the hook a graphic for when it fizzles out because of Olaf. Or so I've heard.

he gets a really long ranged base attack

Okay this I disagree with, yes he is ranged, but his attack range is 450, which is Karthus and Morgana tier (literally 25 range greater than Urgot). Keep in mind that pretty much all conventional ADC's having 500 or greater attack range (except for Urgot, which is why nobody plays him ADC, but as a top laner).

attacking lowers his cooldown

The cooldown of his hook may only be decreased by landing the hook, which means, if the skillshot makes contact (with anything that isn't just plain air, including minions), the cooldown gets reduced by a whopping 3 seconds. Auto attacking does nothing to decrease his cooldowns. I do agree that this random cooldown reduction is arbitrary and shouldn't be in his kit (but that's another discussion)

I do agree with the main point, being that like blitz hook, the hookshot of thresh should vanish upon contact with a spell shield, popping the shield in the process.

When this happened, the cooldown of Thresh's hook was increased by 2? seconds at all ranks. It was to reduce Thresh's threat without reducing his potential.

i think standard is 550

3 seconds is quite a bit when at 40% cdr and max rank it has a cd of like 4 and a bit seconds. Imagine blitz with that power.

I hope you're not referring to Morgana's black shield. That isn't a spell shield.

"Spell" as in something related to magic. Throwing a literal physical hook doesn't seem at all a spell hence why the "spell" shield does nothing to it.

except stop the pull--just like with blitz grab--because it's a spell.

blitz's hand, of course, is not a physical object.

thresh hook disappears from hitting spell shield.

I think the hook should detach, but still be able to 'pull' him to it. It just shouldn't pull to the affected champ (same with if its cleansed, just like Fizz ult doesn't fizzle, it falls off and then activates).

I like how the OP makes excuses for Amumu. It's either/or, either all movement spells are blocked, or none of them.

I would like to see all similar cases removed, but at least Amumu doesn't get bonus abilities while his bandage is on the screen.

If blitz's pull and nautalus's anchor don't work then neither should Thresh's hook. Cmon' riot, fix this crap.

I always thought that one of the reasons he was top-tier supports apart from his kit was that his abilities almost always get priority in certain situations like the example you listed. I say throw it on the floor.
