I don't care who's meta

I'm banning the ever-hating shit out of Blitzcrank. Not because he is good/bad/whatever but just because if they can hit 1 hook that is game. There is no counter-play, there is no reaction, there is no plan, there is just death. Either he misses or you die/loss the game. Early, mid, late game it doesn't matter this POS is the worst designed champion in LOL who's entire existence is defined by one ability and completely unbalances the game base on this one ability if it hits. Oh yeah, and even if I can dodge I guarantee there is at least one player on my team that cannot...guess who blitz aims for every time? That makes this champion the most punishing and broken champion for a team base game when playing solo, it is unfair, unbalanced and ridiculous to lose a game because one player cannot dodge or flash a skill shot.

one time as darius, i flashed into a blitzcrank hook as he tried to hook my adc while i was 10/0, needless to say that it ended up in a slaughter

I like those games. But yeah, still gonna ban blitz. I'm tired of losing because one guy couldn't dodge.

I thought you were joking until I read the comments. It is really sad that you think the game is determined all by your teammates being caught, when in reality you can just play better and carry yourself. The champ is not unfair, and is only annoying to play against as an ADC/Support and your lane partner will just being hooked. But if you are playing in another role, that champ does not matter. And again, if it is one pull the entire game... it straight up does not matter, you woulda lost either way for one pull to be the only thing he did that mattered.

I think its sad that you think my point is invalid. I'm not saying he is strong/weak or whatever I just hate playing against him because it takes all control out of my hand when he gets a pull. Honestly, I have no problems playing against him until my teammates do. If I play so well that I'm effectively punishing him, why do i deserve to lose because one teammate just cannot dodge a hook for the life of him? You want to know who I banned before? No one, I didn't care. I just banned the hot pick of the day because I don't enjoy being ranted at for banning an off meta ban. Truth be told I have never found any meta pick to be so unbearable that they always needed to be banned. I'm adaptive enough that I can deal with most champions because I know how to time my abilities. What possible change could I make to my play style to prevent a loss of my adc being hooked for the 17th time in one game though? The game was lost not because I played poorly but because the other person did. I'm going to ban him because there is nothing I can do.

"This champ is OP because my teammates can't dodge" isn't really a valid argument. Get wards up, then the players who hook from brush won't have as easy of a time. Keep creeps between you and the blitz. Don't facecheck the brush. Move perpendicular to blitz, not parallel.

Yeah, getting caught out by a hook sucks major donkey balls. It's not the end of the world, though, and he's not really that broken.

I hate him too, though.

Umm, yes it is. There is no other champion that punishes your team more for having one player being bad. it changes the focus of the game and is no longer "Team fight" its "Hook that guy" and remove the team fight from the equation. It would be a different story if there was some form of counterplay to blitz hook but there isn't any. Hook = dead. Nothing I do can save that player, nothing they do can stop it short of just not getting hit. This champion is poorly designed because his kit only punishes the weakest player and tries to capitalize that punishment to the maximum effect. I'm sure that wasn't the design intent but in solo-que when people are not coordinating as well it is awful. God help you if you don't have a strong front line because then it's a free for all pull game for blitz instead. I know it's not possible to avoid all skill shots but all other skill shots lack a pulling 1/2 screen away effect. Even if you are rooted for 3 seconds from a morg bind you are still with your team and they can try to defend you but blitz doesn't allow that. There is nothing your team can do but watch you die and then give up another objective. Blitz removes teamplay from the game.

Blitz has a very powerful q- at the expense of a very, very weak remaining kit. I'm not bashing your thread, because you bring up some valid points, but Blitz really is one of the weakest supports. Next time you run into him, play Morg and spell shield whoever he tries to pull :)

if there was some form of counterplay to blitz hook

the counterplay is dodging the hook and then abusing his cooldown window.

all skillshots have the inherent counterplay that they can be dodged.

lack of counterplay is more something along the lines of annies flash tibbers. you either outrange it and beat her, or you dont and she can burst you without giving you a chance to react.

Let me preface this by saying that I dislike playing against Blitz. Sometimes, when I feel the meta is relatively balanced, I ban him also. However, realize that in laning phase, in the 15+ seconds his q is down, he's absolutely worthless. He has perhaps the greatest window of counterplay in this game. And that one ability is so impactful that the rest of his kit is awful. Learn to punish him when he misses his pull.

In regards to his design, I don't like it, because even an awful player can play him, miss hook after hook, and change the fate of the lane with ONE success. I don't like champions that can repeatedly fail and still turn the tide of the game with one ability. However, he isn't at all OP. Actually, he's really one of the worst supports in the game. Just my two cents. I realize he's incredibly frustrating to play against, especially at lower elos.

But... his E fucks my melee diver/assassins D:

And R is shitty too. .5 second silence matters in a game where people die in under a second.

If you're diving in with an assassin on a squishy who has a blitz standing next to him, and you go in before blitz uses his abilities..... uh.... that's on you.

I mean... who else is he gonna E?

FiddlesOnTheRoof1 votes

Your tank/diver that's built defensively enough to withstand the e.

I agree, he isn't OP but I can't just keep ignoring game after game of either mid or ADC getting hooked time and time again. I don't particularly have trouble with him but oh my god do ADC and mid laners have problems.

FiddlesOnTheRoof1 votes

Play Morg support! Her spell shield completely eliminates his threat.

Deathspasm841 votes

He's really not that OP as his kit is meh besides for that ability. I'm support main and I would rather lane against him than raka or nami. Heals are more annoying than the pull as I can dodge the pull most times. Move up in rank and I assume people play smarter and don't get hooked as much, I know big assumption. I do agree with you that if your teammates can't dodge its gonna be a pretty infuriating game. Trolling around in normals is too fun with him though, people don't even try to dodge it.

But it's a good ban almost all the time. Can't argue with that.

Blitz is effective up to high ranks.

his play style changes though. no more cheese pulls camping predictable spots and lame attempts at max range. The good blitz herds you, and then pulls you for an eazy grab at medium to short range.

i basically always ban blitz

I usually ban him for the sake of my adc.

As an ADC, you can pick Sivir and use your E to Spell Shield it, Ezreal and use your E to Arcane Shift out of it at the last second - even if the hook connects, Xayah and use your R to avoid it (and all other spells) instantly, or even Kindred (although they are a bold pick to take to the Bot Lane) and instantly R underneath yourself when pulled. I'm sure there are many that I haven't listed, however almost everything in this game revolves around the idea of counterplay. There are some champions that fair better against others, and Blitzcrank is a pick machine. His main use is his Q, while his E requires him to be in Melee range of a target. His W only amps up his Movement/Attack Speed for a brief moment, then slows him after. He's extremely predictable and can't pull a target standing behind any other enemy to him.

If you're playing a beefy tank or juggernaut, try to protect your squishies and stand in front of them. You can likely take 2-3 Mystic Shots from Ezreal, whereas they will likely have to leave afterwards. If you get hooked as say, Darius or Illaoi , you'll probably end up thanking the enemy Blitzcrank for the free engage, as teams (at nearly every MMR) tend to gravitate to Blitzcrank when he throws his Q out hoping for that juicy free kill.
