surpized people aren't taking cassaopeia to support

lot of AP supports can do that and i'd rather take zyra does more dmg and has cc

New Cass has to farm minions to be useful... at all.

I honestly don't see how you can let a Cass poke you out so hard.

I use to play cass as a support for fun. MANY AP champs can win lane against the meta supports. You start running into problems when it comes to protecting your carry and teamfights.

AP supports in general have the ability to out damage traditional supports. They run into problems later in the game if they aren't able to use their early game power to help snowball both themselves and possibly their ADC far enough ahead, basically keeping their opponents down. You also run into the problem of being incredibly squishy, but without the levels and the gold that you would have as a normal solo lane AP champion, so you will die VERY quickly if you get caught out of position. You will win laning phase for sure, though, if the enemy is dumb enough to try and trade with you poorly and they don't have some kind of CC to gimp you or miss it.
