Hello! Fizz jungle from a Fizz jungle main and S8

Hello fellow players and hopefully rioters. I have played fizz jungle extensively through season 5, 6 and 7 particularly with S6 splitting my games on fizz between mid and jungle and with S7, I have played him in the jungle almost exclusively with over 1000 fizz games for S7 alone. He is not an S tier champion in the jungle and that is ok, but he is a viable champion pick right now and I have put a lot of work to create a build that allows him to work well for those who would like to jungle him.

There are a lot of key pieces that go into him having a successful early clear that can keep up with most junglers, stay healthy and be able to invade, gank, or continue to farm. While I won't go into all the fine details of everything, there are a couple major key facets which I believe make him into a viable jungler; facets that are going away with the new S8 rune system.

Let's first start with some of the facets that help make him a viable jungler.

  1. Fizz's passive. Fizz's passive allows him to take 4 less damage from basic attacks (including from monsters). On multiple npc camps, like raptors, this means he is taking 4 less damage from EACH NPC!!!. ** To add-on to this bonus, is the resolve mastery tree's tier 2 tough skin.** This allows fizz to take an additional 2 less damage per attack. However, this mastery is going away with the new system. Meaning, fizz will take 2 damage more per hit, multiplicative on multiple damage camps. I understand fizz isn't getting compensated for armor runes and that's ok, i didnt' run them anyway. It's the 2 damage per hit mastery that has me concerned.

  2. With the rework, one of fizz's major ways to be successful is to work around the auto reset on activating W and the 1 second CD reset on killing someone with it. Right now, you can Q through raptors, getting his passive ready on a few. The initial Q target you can then auto reset empower W and take out one mini-raptor, then auto reset empower W to take out the next and so forth. This also works with wolves. ** It is KEY to be able to kill the raptors with one auto, another auto reset empower W which not only clears the camp faster but also saves fizz from taking a lot of damage.** **To do this, I run flat AD reds and flat AP blues and quints. ** His Q applies TOTAL AD (meaning the +9 AD from runes gives me another 9 damage) and each auto also provides another 9 AD per, meaning that for each raptor, I am getting a total of effective + 27 AD on the raptor for the 3 hits (Q + 2 autos). I am also losing a small bit of AP and we are losing the savagery mastery (tier 1 cunning) which provides + 5 damage per attack on monsters. Fizz is not getting compensated with additional AD as other junglers are and as a result, my current tests on PBE have me doing Q + auto + auto + reset empower W so it takes an additional auto per raptor, which is a massive difference in time and health that you end up with after the camp.

There are some other things I am concerned about but I believe, based on my experience this season with my numerous fizz jungle games, these 2 key points are very important to keeping him alive as a viable jungler. With the ekko compensation buff to help him out in the jungle, I was hoping fizz could get a little something to help him as well. It does not have to be these exact changes, but I think these would compensate the problems appropriately.

  1. For point number 1, Fizz has the tough skin passive built in (his passive), you could simply have it provide an additional 50% benefit against monsters, for a starting value of 6 (which is the same 6 he gets from tough skin/nimble fighter passive), allowing him to keep up without the armor compensation buff, and while I realize it scales over time, it is only small numbers, as the camps scale as well. As fizz isn't getting any armor compensation and is already pretty slow at farm and down the tier list of junglers, the additional benefit over time won't put him over the top.

  2. For point number 2, the easiest way I think this could be done would be to do an additional 50% damage on monsters when you empower W. Since the empower W is such an important part of fizz jungling and that is where he is losing power (from savagery to the AD to some AP early). He will still have to wait the 2 seconds to charge W to get the bonus effect, thereby not being able to just go in and use base W to clear. Yes, over time, it would scale over the initial benefit, but given how slow fizz's clear is, his already slow ability to take epic monsters and that he would still have to wait 2 seconds to get the bonus damage, I believe it is something that would benefit him without creating any gameplay or health issues.

There are other things I could talk about but I believe these would help keep fizz as a viable jungler, such like ekko got while not affecting his laning abilities. You can add one, both or decide upon neither and add something else but I really hope he can get something to help him, as I love him in the jungle and think with his initiation ultimate and lee sin type ganking style, he is a lot of fun. If you have any questions on how he works in the jungle, clearing, ganks, anything, I would be happy to answer them :)

Thank you for reading!!

Hi @Talinis. In the jungle, what ability do you max first and what item do you rush first in this new season?

I've been doing Fizz jungle for 2 weeks, buffs I would like to see are:

  • Passive is better vs Monsters OR W is better vs Monsters
  • Increased movement speed
