Kennen Damage numbers on PBE
First off, I don't care that you are changing him but the fact is that your numbers are way off base.
PBE
"Slicing Malestrom (R) few changes - damage is similar for a full duration R but upfront damage nerfed significantly. Damage lowered to 40/75/110 from 80/145/210 AP Ratio lowered to 20% from 40% [new effect] "Successive maelstrom hits against the same enemy deal an additional 10% damage for each hit they've already suffered from this storm." [removed] "Each time an enemy is struck, further hits deal 25% less damage (minimum of 50% damage)."
Damage is similiar to a full duration. I'm not sure if that is surrender @ 20 saying that or yourselves but that has never been farther from the truth and if it's someone from riot being serious, then they should be demoted or kicked off the team as they shouldn't work on balance since zero math skills. Even if it wasn't, unless you were looking to not only cut down upfront damage but cut his biggest asset by 1/3rd in damage, the numbers have to change. Take for example 10
Live numbers, 10, 7.5, 5 = 22.5.
PBE numbers: 5, 5.5, 6.05 = 16.55
Basically only 66% damage vs what is on live. If you want it to be similiar to live, damage increase needs to be ~45% for numbers of 5, 7.25, ~10.5 for 22.75 scaling up per hit vs 22.5 scaling down per hit.
Kennen's ult hits 6 times, not 3. Using your example of 10 and 5 damage that means you'd want to compare:
- 10, 7.5, 5.0, 5.0, 5.0, 5.0 = 37.5
And
- 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 6.5, 7.0, 7.5 = 37.5
So same damage, but back loaded instead of front loaded. That is a nerf still though certainly (burstier damage is more powerful), but not as large a one as you'd identified. We're testing this change because we don't believe Kennen should be as bursty as he is at present, given the other tools he brings.
For some reason I thought it being only 3 hits. The tool tip kind of misleads me because of the storm application saying up to 3 times. I'm the dummy here because then yes, for 6 times the math does pan out. I don't have a problem with changing the upfront burst and even I play as one of my more main champions (which is sad me thinking it's only 3 hits lol) Having the stuns and his E ability should allow him to get the damage out in most situations regardless, just might take longer to kill. With the tool tip and the sound effects from storm application (and lack thereof on last 3 hits and with the damage reduction on last hits) kind of hard to tell it did damage beyond 3.
