This Game has Literally THE WORST NEW PLAYER EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER WITNESSED IN ANY GAME

PrometheS·10/19/2017, 8:02:34 PM·187 votes·7,416 views

I'm leveling up a new account and playing Coop vs AI. I have at least one intentionally feeding bot with Cleanse/Exhaust and Corrupting potion every game. In fact, I dodged one game full of them and the next game had 3. Even as a Gold+ player, I could not win playing Maokai JG because these 3 bots on our team actually die 10x+ without doing anything. It literally was 2v5 vs Intermediate bots.

I can only imagine how horribly boring, depressing and straight punishing it is for new players evaluating the game. It's literally the worst experience I've ever had playing a "game". It's not even a tiny bit fun. It's arduously boring and lacks any redeeming qualities. I'm amazed LoL gets any new players at all if they have to put up with such BS. It's actively anti-fun playing that game mode.

It's hard to imagine any new player without double XP boosts ever tolerating the Coop vs AI experience. It's such a soul draining grind and you're stuck with a couple random bots who just walk into turrets all game. If that's the impression I got from playing this game (I was introduced by friends in college), I'd run as far away as possible. You'd have to pay me to go through that again. It's not great even without bots but sadly, it's also a cesspool of mindless bots. A new player would probably think it's a dead game where the developers don't even care.

The last two people I tried to invite to League couldn't get past the leveling experience. If they played Co-Op vs AI every game was just 3-4 bots. If they played vs players almost every single person they encountered was smurfing in the early levels verbally abusing them. Not to mention a good fraction of people making new accounts is the ones previously banned for toxicity.

I don't even recommend League to anyone anymore based on that alone. I have to tell them there's a good game hidden away behind the initial 50 hours of hell.

Now that I think about it, the new runes will probably discourage botting a lot. The equivelient of runes and masteries will be available at lvl one so the only thing new players will be missing is a champion pool.

The game is becoming anti-fun in general.

Couldn't get my buddy to keep playing because it's just too much of a shitty experience. He didn't find it fun when all his matches are filled with smurfs and bots. You can't possibly justify that he should keep playing.

You apparently haven't played Dwarf Fortress. Give it a try; it's free! It's a great game, but it's also truly difficult to learn.

The new player experience is absolutely horrible. You have bots making coop vs ai awful, but what's even worse is that new players also need to deal with people like me.

I start almost every game by stealing a temmate's role and announcing: "IM NOOBFUCXER69" "GET FUCXED NOOBS" "IM GONA FEED" "UR WORTHLES TRASH" ...etc.

...and then I proceed to either intentionally feed 1/50 or steam-roll them 55/2 while trapping the enemy team in their base... Or sometimes I just drag the game out forever by feeding just enough that my teammates can't beat the enemy 4 vs 5, while I can also prevent the enemy from ending the game. I also berate my team the whole time while spamming ping on them. I just deliberately make the new player experience as horrible as possible for my teammates... and I don't even know why I do it.

I am obviously not angry at new players. It's not like they've ever done anything to me, so I don't know why the new players need to suffer. It's just this twisted persona that I play as "NoobFucxer69" and I can't even explain it. It's like I have a need to instill the toxicity of League into new players entering the game so that the cycle of toxicity can perpetuate and expand. I also type like I am barely literate as "NoobFucxer69" even though I am actually well educated and can easily use proper English spelling and grammar.

They're just trying to make it as close to in game experience as possible

How was your experience starting the game though? From op.gg it seems like you started playing 2 seasons ago or maybe 3? Was it really any different back then?

My input to when I was new.

To me. What is a terrible experience to new players is that there's no real explaination of how to really play league. The importance of certain items if you playing a particular champ, (runes and masteries) I think runes reforged will fixed this issue a bit.

I found this game long when it was in beta I believe. I counldn't play it then because my computer at time was like a rock not even a toaster. I was running vista with 512mb ram xD.

I really got into the game when I got a new PC and someone I met in another game told me they played it. I was like okay, my PC should be able to handle league now and with someone who is used to it. It be a good experience for me.

At that time, I understand nothing about ADC's, mages, assasins and anything of the likes. My friend tried to explain it to me but I still really understand much of it. I just play a champs I like and bought them when I get IP, I even spent RP on a few (when they discounts) and the starter pack bundle. I'll just buy runes and put them in. Masteries, I sorta pick whatever.

In my early games, I had bots but not has much has now. Although, I once played a game where I think I was the only actual player (it was an ARAM).

Learning to play this game, I practically figure a lot on my own. A few people help me along the way. Then I don't think the game was toxic has now when I think about it. Since every now and then I meet toxic ppl in AI and even ARAM.

New players will enter this game with little to no guidance of champs and their roles. No idea what runes or masteries to take on particular champ. When to buy certain items and not always follow RIOT's recommendations. They will buy a champ maybe because they like the look or the gameplay with no idea how play that champ properly. They will know not the importance of warding, and last hitting. They be ignorant of many aspects of this game. And one day will play pvp and get seriously flame for this lack of knowledge. I have seen it and experience it. For this many will lose interest. Learning league takes a lot of time and it can be dishearten if there's no one to help with the process. In the end, the ones who will continue will be those who really like what the game has to offer itself. I liked the champions(not all some I regret purchasing xD), I enjoy learning how to play them, some are exciting to play some are not. For those who stick to games because of the community, they likely not to stick around.

A way around this maybe to implement a Mentor and Apprencticeship. Both parties have to register for it. An evaluation will be done at the end. So for those who really want to learn this game can and those who wish for others to learn can teach. or A very informative and detail tutorial should be made.

Jungling in bot games already screws over whoever is going top, so idk what you are complaining about.

Project omen10/20/2017, 1:07:05 AM2 votes

I agree with everything to say and I would also like to add the pressure new players get from other players, especially smurfs, who flame them because they are performing poorly instead of giving them advice. I mean, what do you expect from a player that has no idea what he is doing? How do you expect him to learn?

does riot not have an algorithm or anything to detect bot accounts? im sure it wouldnt be hard because all of their games would have them with HORRIBLE kda's. the one problem i can think of is that as i recall when i was a new player i always had a HORRIBLE score by the end lol

AgeOfTheMage10/20/2017, 1:38:40 AM2 votes

mmh, I've been going to intro bot games due to how shitty the tutorial is and teaching the new players myself,
