I think its a unique item, it pays for itself if you can farm enough. I grab it usually when I want to play really safe as an adc, depends on the matchup if its any good

If you have spare money, because for example you got forced back to your base and you can't buy your first back item, it is actually pretty nice. But it wasn't meant to substitute Doran's Blade, so it's a situational item.

Does the +3 life on hit apply to every target hit with Umbrablades i wonder?

I just checked, it doesn't.

A trash item in comparison to what you could get.

Do the math: 450g with a +1 on last hits and a 350g refund = 450g (Also takes up a slot, a precious resource). So all that work breaking even and you get 7 attack and 3 flat life steal at the mid game? That's really, really pointless. Sell it and you get 180g? Basically the gold you'd lose on average because you decided to roll a shit item.

Just do a comparison to Doran's shield (an item that gives you 72 HP per minute and scaling regen, doesn't require you to push to sustain, etc). Easily crushing this greedy item. It's not "situational" if its not picked up often. It's because its bad.

Bear in mind if you aren't getting 100 cs at 12-14 minutes this item is even worse and you've shit the bed. (A bonus: if I see you build this item I have an instant win condition and killing you is worth more than in normal scenarios). Don't give smart players incentive to shut you down any harder.

troll item. i only buy it when i'm playing a normal game and i'm testing out klepto irelia or something dumb like that.

It's weirdly useful on Urgot (and maybe the new reworked Garen), because of his synergy with on-hit: Urgot's machine gun applies on-hit damage at 1/3rd effectiveness, but the on-hit healing of Cull is not reduced, so it's great sustain for laning phase.

Beyond that, I've never seen it used convincingly. It's supposed to accelerate your build at the expense of your early game, but you still typically finish your first item before Cull being fully stacked, so it accelerates only your second item. Maybe it works for ADC, but for someone like me who plays Toplane, I need that first full item powerspike. So Cull doesn't cut it.

It needs an attack speed stat on it.
