I hope Galio is the top five, if not highest, champions who desperately need a kit upgrade.
Here's why:
#1.) He doesn't make sense thematically.
A stony gargoyle protector who lost his creator and fights to serve both Demacia and the underdog. To reflect this he....shoots lasers (???) from his eyes, flaps his wings and makes everyone punch him. Buh? Did someone kind of just cobble together this kit from duct tape, hopes and a single prayer? (Much like the client but I digress)
#2.) He doesn't make sense kit-wise.
Not a single thing about Galio's kit meshes except for his W. Poke with his Q that's awkward to land. E is a speed boost of some kind. W is an armor/mr boost and obscenely powerful heal (Side note: Why does it work on minion hits?) and R is one of, if not the, best teamfight starters in the game. So what the hell is this mishmash of kit ideas supposed to do? I was joking before but yeah, this feels like they had a bag of abilities and gave Galio whatever was left after the first champions got done.
#3.) He's never been truly great.
When's the last time you've seen Galio outside of a gimmick pick? Not at all you say? Yeah, don't blame you. He's awkward to use and his potato salad kit really don't allow you to make a team around him. He could be an initiator but he's not great at that. Other tanks poke better than he does Just everything screams "Pick me because you need some sort of tank and everyone else is banned."
#4.) He's always been the anti-MR tank simply because of his passive. (Which also forces him to go somewhere like mid)
Remember how people were saying that Veigar is only the anti-mage character because he has the enemy AP Ratio on his R? Yeah, Galio's the same way. A weird passive that's just a reverse version of Rammus's (AD = Armor versus Galio's MR = AP) that doesn't lend itself to anything interesting. It just makes some items a little better for no reason.
#5.) He's always had immense potential.
He's a fucking stone behemoth that shoots eye lasers. How do you not want a concept like that?
I hope Riot has something planned for him. Make him a mage. Make him a tank. Recycle his weird ass abilities to 10 other characters. Just do something with Galio because he's one of, if not the, most weirdly thrown together champions in the game.
