Riot: Ezreal needs a re-work, or a major buff

Ezreal is, unfortunately, among the shortest AA range of any "ADC", coupled with the fact that he is also one of the squishiest, and his abilities all scale far better with AP; in fact, the only ability that even scales with AD is his Q, since the ult is abysmal at this point.

I recommend the following tweaks to Ezreal, at least for the short-term:

  1. Remove the AD scaling from Q, and increase the AP scaling from 40% to 80%.

  2. Ezreal's ult is far too weak at the moment because it goes down by 10% damage for every target it hits before actually hitting the intended target, which means you're looking at 30% of the actual ultimate's damage before actually hitting the intended target if the ult hits minions/monsters, or other players, on the way to your target. Even with 1000 AP, your ultimate would hit for 320 damage if it hits any minion waves along the way. Even though Riot doesn't follow the basic rules of balancing (F-S-C), they really should, because a balanced game is more competitive and fun to play. Aside from that little problem of Riot itself, if you were to balance this situation appropriately, you'd have to take away something in order to give something in another area. So for example, Ezreal's ultimate takes 1 second before shooting, if you make it instant without delay, you'd have to take away something else such as dealing less damage. The problem is that it already deals less damage because of the downscaling, down to a 30% minimum. So you have a delay, and downscaling of damage, which leads to a double negative, which is why the ultimate is underpowered. In terms of balancing, it would be appropriate to remove either the delay or the downscaling, and if you wanted to make it both instant and not downscale, then you could remove the global range and make it a short range cast, which I think would actually be the best option, since that gives Ezreal a much needed boost of power, with greater accuracy since it will have no delay in casting.

  3. Change his passive to something that is not AA reliant. One good idea I read was to have his passive build up charges after each spell that hits a champion, and upon 10 charges, Ezreal's next spell deals bonus magic damage.

Anyway, Riot doesn't really care, but I thought I would throw these ideas out there for Ezreal. Ezreal

I think he fills a unique niche for ADCs; I don't think he is particularly underpowered. Maybe he could use a very small buff to something or other, but nothing substantial.

He needs a what-? What was that B word you just said? He needs a balance?? I don't... I mean- I agree, he does need to be made weaker.

Ezreal's ult is far too weak at the moment because it goes down by 10% damage for every target it hits before actually hitting the intended target,

But that's kinda balanced. It can hit multiple targets, but grows weaker over time. Take Jinx 's ult, for example. While it's much stronger, and has a blast radius, it still explodes on target. Caitlyn 's ult can be blocked in the same manner, and has less range. Ezreal's ult trades damage potential per target and splash damage for piercing and range.

ANd while his range is standard for an adc, 550 is pretty good when he can teleport. He can blink over walls, which few adc's can do (Caitlyn can as well, but her ult doesn't have as much range).

Ezreal doesn't need buffs... Just use different builds. He has both AD & AP ratios, then maybe build him as hybrid? I've seen some really strong hybrid Ezreals.

Some of us don't want to play AP Ezreal, seems like you are a AP Ez, I play AD which I find him the most fun AD Carry in my opinion his passive makes up for his low range, and he has a nice poke. But yes he is squishy and I would agree should be buffed a bit, not that he's completely crap, just give him like a 3% increase or something. Riot I've been glad to have played this game for the few months I have and have had fun, but I'd like to see him up where Ashe, and Sivir are at the moment :)

The scaling are relatively decint however I feel like he is still out classed by other adc. If his e was on a tad lower CD his mobility would be higher than all other adc, further increasing his overall landing faze against these higher class adc. Also if his ult stayed with a cast time but reduced the damage reduction to 5% for each enemy hit still capping at its original.

I find it funny that only people who Disagree respond but the people who Agree say nothing but Vote yes. Apparently only trolls like drama

Ezreal has the standard adc range of 550. That isn't short at all, plus his area of influence is quite high for adcs because of his mystic shot. If you took the ad ratio off his q you couldn't play him as an adc, that would suck for anyone wanting to play him in that role. I agree he could use some meaningful small buffs. Such as, letting his w hit minions to give him waveclear, which would also give adc ezreal a reason to use the ability other than here attack faster. Make his e prioritize champs. Have his passive amplify spell damage rather than give bonus attack speed. Have his passive stacks fall off one by one, rather than all at once. I think things like that would improve his reliability, damage output, and utility. While not making him overpowered.
