Finding Galio's Identity/Lane Post-Rework
Despite the usual shenanigans that follow any new-champ/rework, I have been able to play several games with Galio taking him mid/top/jungle.
So far it seems that playing him as an AP-caster (like prior to rework) is significantly weaker, but having more success building him as a tank
has been more successful/useful.
After figuring out his build I am still struggling to find what lane Galio would do best in:
Mid: while most melee mid laners have some sort of mobility to avoid poke or kill potential to keep the enemy mid-laner wary, Galio has non of these and I found myself often being unable to trade and early on having major mana issues if I tried to trade (having flashbacks to S5 galio where stealing bluebuff from your jglr was mandatory)
Top: While Top was more forgiving because the tendencies of Top lanes being farm lanes, in the current meta with
I often find myself struggling. To make this worse wave management is incredibly difficult, with your two tools for CS (auto's and Q's) being aoe's and often ends up in the lane pushing.
Jg: I found this to be the most comfortable of the three lanes but still has its downsides. Early clears are slow and leave Galio at low-hp or in general not a good state to be able to gank from. It felt like I was lagging behind most of the game but after ~lvl 10 this was much less of an issue. On the positive side I love the gank potential just from E,W and counter-gank with ult.
I have yet to play Galio support but was wondering what everyone else's experiences have been.
**Additional Note: Galio's E is not supposed to go over walls, but this has made fighting in the jungle a nightmare, if his charge hits a branch of a tree he just stops.
