So, Karthus might need a Rework; Here's my stupid idea to change his REQUIEM

Oh boy, I can already smell the torches and pitchforks!

Karthus' Requiem is long past its glory days and hasn't really aged well in a meta where most champions have ways to easily counter it. Yet it's pretty iconic to his character.

So, walking my dogs I had this sudden spark of imagination regarding a reworked Karthus ultimate! Yes, this is highly speculative and more about considering what it COULD be than anything else.

R: Requiem Karthus opens his Necronomicon and can chose 1-5 of the currently living enemy champions. Each champion's name written into his Necronomicon increases the channel time and cooldown of requiem but decreases the damage it deals to the individual champions.

After the channel ends the selected enemy champion(s) are dealt damage and if only one champion is targeted Requiem ignores untargetability effects

Requiem currently is gated by a huge cooldown and pitiful early game damage. This change would allow karthus to decide which champion he wants to bless with death, allowing him to make strategic decisions while also making for some cooler thematic appeal! http://i.imgur.com/cyttXy0.gif

I mean if we're going to be using this, I think it'd be better if they gave him the new thing from the Urgot ult where it completely executes the enemy under 25% health. but Still only if 1 champ is targeted mind you.

As for a rework to his ult, I feel like it'd be better suited if they gave him a bit more power into his other abilities. Right now he's more or less the AP equivalent of "TONS OF DAMAGE", but he's got no real niche otherwise. I've suggested multiple times that his W should give the Grounded Debuff so he can be an Anti dash since none of the other Battle Mages have that sort of thing (I don't remember is Cass is considered a Battle Mage or not)

I like it a lot, have the champions preselected like a kindred passive marker though to prevent it from taking too long to select them during a key moment.

too gimmicky for my liking

I think his ult's fine as it is

His ult is fine currently despite it's damage being negated by shields and alike. The global nature of it alone makes competent enemy teams be less agressive, less likely to go into risky trades and even if it does no damage (damn these shields) it brings gold from assists making reaching late game status where you melt everything that is near you easier by a ton.

My riff on your idea would be to let him choose one enemy to whom the damage is dealt as true damage, but otherwise, keep his ult just as-is.

250 base damage on an ultimate who hits all champion is now "pitiful" damage? Since the damage would go down the more enemy you chooses the new base damage should be even higher (maybe the ratio too) and you would basically press it on the enemy ADC (or just everyone squishy) everytime for a free damage nuke which also would have a lower CD than the usual 3 minute one. Nuh uh.
