Why is Graves so popular at the moment?

Pros: Ton of upfront damage early. You can literally one-shot an ADC in 4 seconds with a BF sword after level 6. Tanky with passive. Pretty mobile. Pretty good dueling with E aspd steroid. Good at solo splitpushing when fed. Still deals tons of damage mid game. Nice AoE damage mid game. But it deals no damage late game.

Cons: Low range. This is a big problem for ADCs. Low range means he can't push towers 5v5 or poke at all. This also means he has to use his E defensively in a tight teamfight, which kills some of his DPS. Other ADCs outscale you with steroids and better range eventually. Graves' E still gives a massive attack speed boost and mobility, but it's hard to use offensively late game. You can't just dash in or you might die.

He's always had some of the best burst/aoe damage of any of the adcs. Maybe people have just started to notice it and decided to play him more because of it. Otherwise it is a bit odd.

Dat Passive. Gives him Armor and MR just for being in combat, allows for great trades with his AA+Q. Good all in potential. He's been popular since his release. Top tier ADC.

Lucian got nerfed. Lucian used to be a better Graves.

He has no weaknesses. He's like the Mario of ADC's.

Other adcs that were good got nerfed by itemization before trist became a god. It's mostly just everyone else being weak, and him being one of the few that are staying relevant

He's one of the few that were untouched.

Previously, Graves was considered bad because we had Lucian, Trist and Cait being top ADCs for a time.

becuase lucian got nerfed, along with trist and twitch getting utterly destroyed and he remained untouched. But i would honestly take jinx or sivir over graves

Graves is basically the new Lucian. They're very similar champions and Lucian's nerfs pushed him out of being the best champion for that playstyle.

Because the better adcs who filled his niche have been nerfed enough to make him strong.

He has burst damage, decent mobility with his E, he's also the "tank" marksman so while he gets to burst you down, you don't do as much to him, add on top of that his ability to deal sustained damage due to him being a marksman and well, there you go.

Lucian did everything that Graves did but better, Now that the he is nerfed, people go back to graves
