Highlights and explanation

better farming potential better scaling less early poke/trades

right now veigar is really struggling in the laning phase, moreso than intended. this is largely due to the CD on his Q. its wildly difficult for him to manage the wave without focusing 100% on it. so what should veigar be doing? farming or laning?

other nasty laners can make it difficult with either a longer range, or just keeping 2 minions between veigar and yourself. making it completely impossible for him to harm his enemy laner. (than whats the purpose of his abysmal HP pool if not to ensure hes on the losing end of trades in the early game?)

even when he does make it to late game, hes still reliant on his E, and his full combo still struggles in the damage department because the other areas of his burst were deemed inappropriate (meteor + PB).

so im suggesting veigars Q be touched up just a little bit to give him some more late game power with that scaling, and with the reduced CD making it easier for him to get more early AP without compromising the wave integrity/shoving/pushing towards the enemy tower.

i realize veigar can hit 2 with one cast, but it usually does more harm than good to go for that 2 for 1. its not even a decision, you really mess your wave up.

what this would do is also bump up his poke damage a little bit and encourage him to put out more magic damage for his team in team fights, rather than wait for a favorable stun and stand wayyyy back, he could go in on someones else's engage and throw out some damage rather than waiting for his EH and meteor again for a burst combo on a favorable target.

I'd say just revert his stun back to the way it was before, aka instant cast. Even back then before the nerf he wasn't played often or considered op, and only showed up so often in official matches.

I prefered him like he was prerework, was one of my mains. He had a very clear identity and very clear strengths and weaknesses. No matter what people said (after the rework, funnily enough) about his state prerework ; he was rather healthy because of that. He had longer cooldowns and higher manacosts especially on E and W and was the absolute hit or miss burst champion. If he missed E he was basically dead, right now it doesn't really have that much cooldown. Zhonyas or kite and wait a tiny bit, you have it again. It's also easier to get more AP, but is more unreliable at using that power; whereas he had very instant, rather reliable impact and his design was around that (being a scary yordle all about vengeance and shit) and he still had a bunch of counterplay and very good counterbuild options. Right now I don't like him at all as much as I did. He's much more unreliable, team-dependant, it's like a part of his identity was killed. If anything I'd reduce his E delay by another 0.25s and actually nerf the cooldown (increase it). This is normal and important that such an ability has a high cooldown. Anyway, I feel the army of downvoters "Veigar E so toxic op lol nerf or remove it" when they don't even the champion so whatever.

yes absolutely, but riot doesn't agree with that. im trying to help veigar out of his current gutter and be an ok pick at least, working with what he has.

Veigar still has the strongest non-ulti ability in the game. I don't mind him struggling.

Real thou, with the state of the meta, an anti-mage is slightly out of place with an AD meta. It's a bad meta for him, but he's not bad. I'd rather them fix the meta, then the champions in the meta.

The only reason veig is struggling is because ad mids and long range safe mids are in style. He is the same champ that all too recently was a terror in mid lane.

He doesn't need buffs just because the meta changed.

its not a meta thing,(it is a little bit, but not this drastic from 52 to 46) its the fact that he has nothing to offer anymore besides his stun. with all of his damage nerfs, he is contributing very little despite having access to 300+++ AP in a 40minute or more game. and then just being on par in the late game with other damage dealers.

hes just a "stun bot" i dont like that word, but its what hes being forced into.

veigar was popular (6% play rate at his peak) with a 52% win rate because other teams simply were losing on champ select. they picked things which couldnt gap close or reach veigar and since they werent diving hard or initiating on him he would be the one to initiate or zone with his E reliably enough to actually be useful to a team.

"veigar is a god" in the same respect that malphite and rammus are, who counter heavy AD team comps, veigar just so happens to dominate team fight comps by breaking them up and forcing 2v5's (out of position players) or threaten a long duration stun. it was fine pre 5.4 when it had a shorter range and was sitting on a much longer CD. which was lowered to compensate the delay.
