IDEA#1 :purchase-able PROFILE backgrounds.

Basically take various animated logins or splash arts and allow players to put them as their profile background that will show off when people check out their stats.

Really like PENTAKILL album? Maybe your a big fan of the Star Guardian login animation? Maybe even Mecha Malphite slamming down with Mecha Sion? purchase it all with IP and set as your profile background!

IDEA#2 :Upload your own Summoner Icon

basically the same as Steam , Upload a personalized picture of your choosing to serve as your summoner icon. Maybe you find current summoner Icons too bland for you or a character from a anime/TV show you recently watch really stands out to you. at the cost of IP show the world!

the only problem I see with this would be fraudulent Icons like people who would maybe grab a santa baron pic from google instead of earning it the realistic way ect. would really trivialize official Icons so Riot might have to adjust some things

IDEA#3 : Purchase Refund Tokens

not much to say here. maybe you bought a skin within the past 3 months you don't like and would like to refund for your RP back? purchase a refund token with IP and refund it. MAX 1 Token a month or something

There are 3rd party anounce programs, they are kinof meh because they are created by the community but they do exist

Install OverWolf and get Killer Voices as an app, you can also get cool things that show you the runes and things of enemys without having to open op.gg in a browser

I agree the first 3 ideas are terrible, voice packs for announcers would be nice though.

Voice announcer options: Annie, GP (i mean they already made it so why not?),

marksmen: first tower could be "insert champion here ks'd tower gold from me" Enemy shutdown could be " lol you got lucky scrub" ect ect

rioter announcer voice:

  • penta kill: we will get around to balancing that in 5 or 6 patches.
  • first blood: it could be a problem but lets give it a few patches to be sure
  • First tower: Towers are not too weak.
  • Baron: yes we balance around LCS
  • dragon: no buff for shyvana, or if shyvanna is on team then: hey you have a passive now.

You were thinking it though, just like everyone else, those profile backgrounds are one of the few times you get to see champion art work in game, custom profile pictures would be filled with pictures of cocks and "bitches" so thats obviously a terrible idea, and three would grind the games economy to a virtual halt unless they only cost RP and were more expensive then everything else besides the most RP intensive skins so also a dumb idea.

reason idea 2 is terrible: the player base is far too massive to effectively moderate players profiles and would be abused with nudity based stuff, pictures of hitler/nazi's, and pictures of justin bieber.

reason idea 3 is terrible: in addition to the stuff i mentioned riot also officially chimed in on that matter a while ago with a very clear NO this wont happen stop asking.

Now you might notice i have not mentioned idea 1 and thats because it is your profile page and the background should reflect your most played/skilled champion, it gives people who visit your profile a very clear indication of what type of ranked or normals player you are.

also if basic facts are considered being close minded then i don't want to be whatever your definition of open minded is.

Every thing you can say about "the new generation" has been said about every previous generation. This argument holds no weight.

Works just fine on the FEK end. Also, someone puts something like that and you can ban it. 2nd time, permaban the account. Simple.

Saying rito has previously said no does nothing to address whether or not it is a good idea. They've changed their minds plenty in the past. Not sure why rito changing their minds is out of the question?

This is probably why they haven't even bothered to do this idea. Giving players that much freedom only means more things to have to moderate.

That being said, I'd love an IP sink.

I think 1) is probably the best because it's something Riot has control over.

  1. is never going to happen. The League community is too immature and there's going to be that one douche that's going to upload some X-rated content. Screening them out with prior approval is way too much of a hassle for Riot.

  2. might be doable, but it depends on the cost of the refund token and may potentially lead to refund abuse. Perhaps twice a year is a better option.

Well I got the Idea from Heroes of Newerth.

IIRC Heroes of Newerth had a personalized icon system where you would upload an image first through their website then after approval you could use it ingame. I figure if a small company like that could manage such a system so could Riot who obviously would have much more infrastructure at this point.

Idea 1 would be fucking great.

2 would let people bootleg RP-exclusive or unobtainable/rare summoner icons for free, so that's not happening.

Riot has declined to grant more refund tokens in favor of providing free content in other areas.

Well, I've been saying this for about 2 years now (some more farfetched than others, I know):

-Skins for IP 20x the RP cost (ex. 1820 RP skin = 36400 IP). -Hextech keys for 1700 IP. -Champions giftable with IP. -Every non-esport icon for 1500 IP each (excluding event and limited icons).

I doubt like ALL of those.

  1. The skin one is acceptable because 20x is expensive.
  2. Keys and Chests are ways of making a decent amount of $ Someone keeps getting 1 or the other, theyll buy the other with RP.
  3. You know that friend with 200000k IP just ask him for some champs, he'll be more than happy. (lower chance for champion RP sales)
  4. This might screw up how they want some event icons to work, we already have at least 1 ip based icon every event i would doubt they would make ALL Icons IP. (less money spent on RP.)

I do agree that we need more things to spend IP on but these just arent gonna happen.

I'd like portrait borders like on D3 around your champ. Each person can have a diff one but also an option to turn if off for those who dont want to see it

I vote for IP-exclusive chromas and summoner icons of champion portraits/spells.

#1 is probably the most likely option, #2 we all have seen cases where people post inappropriate images, #3 is too "real money oriented" to be purchased using IP.

Love #1 and #3.

Idea #1 is great!! It would be great to use the login animation, as the designer paid so much attention in making those works! It's a shame if it will never be shown again.

Idea #3 is a nice idea. Almost everyone in my friends list have used up their limit of refund. But instead of refund, I will suggest to trade anything with the same value, in order to 1. secure Riot's income; 2. make sure no abuse of the system. Ward skins should not be allowed in the system, or else everyone will refund the old static ward for new one with richer effects. Players should be able to refund item within a month only.

Disagree with #2

As many rewards of event/ purchases are based on summoners icons. Allowing players to do so is harmful to both Riot and the Communitiy. Many of the icons are legacy, and act as a proof of participating in certain events. Banning users from uploading own icon also make sure the icon is relavant to the game, and safe from NSFW content. This also reduce loading of server. With the huge base of active players in league, if everyone is allowed to upload a unique icon, a lot of server space will be occupied. I used to hope for this feature back I started playing league in S2, but I am satisfied with the icons I can choose from now. I participate in many events just for the icon rewards. XD

I don't think those ideas would work very well

Idea 2: People have already bought icons via RP and it would just defeat the purpose of limited edition icons

Idea 3: If you can purchase refund tokens then that would not profit Riot. If you really want it, a token would be $5 at least (not worth it) and probably available once a year
