How hard would it be to make an "Abathur" for LoL?

Abathur

Abathur in Heroes of the Storm is easily one of the most unusual heroes to play as. He cannot engage directly in combat (doing so is suicidal), but instead can influence the battlefield from anywhere he chooses. He acts through allied Heroes, Minions, and by laying down his Toxic Nests to manipulate the battlefield and basically play a "macro" game against the enemy team.

I have to wonder if such a design would be possible (or even allowed) in League. Riot seems to dislike designs that can't team-fight, but does that mean an Abathur-esque Champion is impossible? I hope not.

While League's design fundamentally locks almost all forms of micro/macro centric designs hard or impossible to realise properly in this game, but at least there is a champ called Ivern in this game.

Organisms known as riot are incapable of such design or achieving well rounded balance. This evolution will never take place in the DNA sequence of league of legends.

Too many pronouns to be Abathur.

Riot... Organism, balancing DNA incomplete. spinning strands.... Inconceivable... DNA sequence resistant to assimilation.... Mutation impossible. further testing required

seriously though id love to see a champion with similar mechanics, but in fairness the major difference that allows heroes of the storm to use abathur effectively is their global experience and the talent system, without those a similar champion in leagues would have to be in lane at some point during the match and would nee the kit and survivability to do so, making an abathur-ish champion very impractical

Well, the problem witH a Champion like Abathur would be that in LoL, there is no shared experience and you need gold to buy items.

Both of these things are different in HotS. He works because teh team shares a level and he doesnt need items.

If he was to be made a Champion in LoL, you would have to find a way for him to get experience and gold without being in any lane.

Then again... I would like to have him, maybe I will try to make it work.

Well, Abathur continually spawns Locusts to push lanes, so maybe this Champion could have something similar. It wouldn't be perfect, but it'd be a start.

Or this Champion's passive could be that it earns, say, 15-20% of all gold and exp earned by teammates. That'd lead to about a 60-80% yield compared to another Champion earning its own keep, so it wouldn't be perfectly efficient. Lazy, I know, but it'd be strictly to accommodate this Champion's unique quirky playstyle.

An Abathur could work as a full support. I wouldn't want an Abathur, though, as I am not a fan of breaking fundamental game mechanics (I don't like him in HotS either).

The problem is that unlike HOTS, league has a strict way your team needs to be played to work properly, and an Abathur-like character wouldn't easily fit those roles without massive changes to League as a whole. As an Abathur main myself I love the idea, but it doesn't seem like he could fit with League's current mechanics.

Not to mention TwistedFate 's ult would be a free kill every time.
