To win in bronze you have to know bronze

Some people are being coached by their gold+ friends, but in my opinion, if they've never been bronze before, they won't understand what it's like.

The difference between bronze and gold isn't the difference between a 1000 elo chess and a 1500 elo chess. It's the difference between Dota 2 and LoL. It's like 2 similar games with similar playstyles (both dota 2 and LoL players will understand "mmr" and "mid lane" for example) but have their differences (Dota 2 players won't know what a jungler is). Same thing. Gold and bronze LoL players both know what a KDA is, they know what mid lane is. However, a bronze player won't know what a support or tank is.

In bronze, you gotta learn how to carry yourself out without a support or a tank, and play self reliant champs. Gold players take advantage of the fact that every game has some semblance of teamwork. Bronze players don't. I also won't recommend bronze players to play support or tank because they can't count on the carries in their team to follow up. I recommend playing bruiser or assassin tbh.

Best coach for bronze players is gold/silver who has been in bronze in the past year (so their bronze experience is recent and the meta hasn't changed that much since then).

How to carry bronze?

  1. Tryndamere

  2. Splitpush top all game

  3. ?!?!?

  4. Ggez

DeathBurst1 votes

Point 1 is far too restrictive. You can splitpush with pretty much anything, in Bronze: Garen, Mordekaiser, Nasus, Yi, Jax, Irelia, Singed, Kled, hell, I even did it with Sion and an Iceborn Gauntlet. Or any Tank with ZZ'rot (and so, yes, you can even play Tanks in Bronze).

GULAG 4 U1 votes

It was a joke though.

DeathBurst1 votes

Well, it's actually a viable legit strategy. You can really solo carry in Bronze just with split-push.

GULAG 4 U1 votes

Idk. That works if the enemy team doesn't send 4 people on you and your team just o jackshit while you're distracting 4 poeple

DeathBurst1 votes

Well, I know it works. I'm barely Gold (currently G5 0LP), and I still have a 65+% winrate in Normals (where my MMR is around high Bronze equivalent) with all the split-pushers I just mentioned.

GULAG 4 U1 votes

Well fuck it's time to spam aatrox top and rightclick demn turrets, who gives a shit about clown fiestas gg! I'm seriously going to try to only SP and not group.

DeathBurst1 votes

Well, to be fair, I was exaggerating a bit.

But the truth is still impressive. Performance in Normals:

  • 72% winrate with Singed (no prior experience in Ranked)
  • 64% winrate with Tryndamere (no prior experience in Ranked)
  • 64% winrate with Mordekaiser (~50 Ranked games, and not only split-pushing with this one, but his 1v2 potential is still great)

And 58% winrate with Garen in Ranked, climbing all the way through Silver, and mainly split-pushing.

My winrate with Kled is much worse, but it's 'cause I needed to learn the champ first, it's more mechanically complex than Trynda/Singed. And I didn't play a lot of Garen/Sion (my mains for Ranked) in Normals, so I have no stats about them, but I'm pretty sure that if I played them in Bronze, I'd have 60+% with Garen, and 55+% with Sion. Sion is like Morde, not only split-push, but you can still do it a lot with Iceborn Gauntlet and/or ZZ'rot.

The thing about Split-push in lower ELOs is that it removes a lot of the gambling part of 5v5 team-fights. Your team may be bad, but even bad player should win if they fight 4v3 or 4v2 when you attract 2 or 3 enemies in a side-lane. Just remember to use your ping and spam them so they realize they are not 5 and they shouldn't engage while you're away. And if they are under-tower, well, then that's still gambling, but 4+tower versus 5 can go either way (and you should at least get a tower yourself on the other side). That's why you only get to 60 something winrate, not to 80+, but that's still laaaaargely enough to climb.

GULAG 4 U1 votes

But really imo clown fiestas in low elo is risky shit. I do it because when I SP nobody mias or does anything or they 4v1 gank me as morde and i can't gtfo. The rest of my team meanwhile is just fucking around.

DeathBurst1 votes

Well, if you split-push, you don't really need to focus on minions to waveclear, you have all the time you need to watch the mini-map yourself, and of course, you need to learn proper warding, you don't want to die for nothing and then let your team fight 4v5. But blaming MIA (or the lack thereof) on your team is kinda ridiculous.

But really, it's normal that your team is fuckin' around: they are Bronze, what do you expect? Thing is, if you repeat it enough times, at some point they will be in the proper position, and you just need this one time, as long as you haven't lost before reaching it.

And of course, don't split-push if you can't at least 1v2 and trade at least 1 kill, and ideally kill one of them and still escape.

Ayt thanks. I'll prolly play some trynd and try this out.

OP ain't wrong. A lot of strategies from guides, videos, lists, and etc. are horribad for season 6.

Passive mid laners, Naut, Jinx, and Thresh are probably some of the worst choices you can have meta-wise.

NoRunesMasteries1 votes

Naut really. Those passive mid laners are just waiting the game out til they can group/roam for kills instead of trying to 1v1 mid lane and shows who is more dominate.

Hence they're passive.

As for those champions you selected are bust or golden. Literally they're great champions to pick but you have to snowball and or make plays with them otherwise you scale off terribly.

Like Blitzcrank, sure his level 1 hook is OP but after a while if you eventually can dodge them and scale into mid game if he doesn't land a hook he's kind of not as helpful. Etcs.

Meta-wise, don't need to follow LCS plays and champions, they're one patch behind us as stated by Riot when they play in the LCS, they don't play the current patch. Meta is always changing. It is what it is for.

Which is why they're extremely bad choices. You're not climbing by just winning the easy games, you're trying to win the hard ones.

Jinx isn't actually that bad because of how easy she takes early towers.

Also all your games have in common is you guys fight constantly, there are few objective control. Your aim is likely to win a team fight whenever in one to then push a lane as far as you can then breaking out into another team fight.

Play for objectives and maybe your games will power spike into your advantage and you will start to win more games. You being the one who is fed, jungler just lay it out for them, "Let's get dragon/baron" simply just saying one thing or being fed like yourself, do it yourself and then climb out yourself.

XinZhao2WinNhao1 votes

{quoted} jungler just lay it out for them, "Let's get dragon/baron"

The junglers in my game don't get dragon until 25 minutes. They also don't gank lanes often, they prefer to farm the jungle for the first 30 minutes. And when they do gank, they gank a lane that is already 0/5 while they are 3 levels behind and end up making the enemy 6/0.

And if you gank as a laner because the jungler doesn't gank, they get upset about it and say that you're taking their job away from them. They will also not cover your lane if you're ganking.

NoRunesMasteries1 votes

I was saying in the state of your game history, you seem well talented to get kills and play well in the jungle, so go take dragon by yourself being fed and all.

If the team doesn't want to play your way, simply play it your way without messaging cause messaging = toxic and reportable.

What I am trying to say is, you have to be the one that carries, not in terms of "Oh I have most kills that states I'm the carry" althought yes you have the most kill and impact in a fight if one breaks out but you can also carry the game with objectives.

Maybe you should play champions that are able to do objectives solo; Trydamere, Master Yi, Jax, etcs. Champions that if they 1v1 they can easily burst someone down or if in a team fight they can still be strong. As for objective wise you an easily take dragon solo early levels with them.

low level elo play is checkers meets mortal combat. they think it is about i can 1 vs 1 you so im better or we have to all in an fight every time we are alive regardless if there is something to fight for.

high elo-pro play is fighting when there is something to fight for. sees the game more as a chess match then checkers. its not about being able to 1 vs 1 your opponent .

To win in Bronze you have to not be bad at the game.

XinZhao2WinNhao5 votes

Try not being bad at the game when you have an AFK on your team who ragequit after realizing that he had an intentionally feeding jungler who fed his lane.

Even when there's no troll or AFK, try not being bad at the game when you have no tank and 5 assassins.

Gold and Bronze you say ? Hell, the difference between Silver and Bronze is an ocean. I finally smashed my way out of Bronze earlier this season and have been playing in Silver for quite a while now. Managed to make Silver 4 as my highest rank so far, though I'm currently back at Silver 5 0LP.

Anyways, my experience so far has informed me that Silver and Bronze are nothing alike. I used to think Bronze was hard back when I couldn't get out but it's quite easy in reality. I could carry that shit without trying too hard but Silver, oh god. The teamwork at Silver is just so much fuckin better. In Bronze you could just farm up and look for picks to get fed and carry like a god but Silver players ain't having that. It's next to impossible to pick someone off in Silver. And they can farm just as good as you so that shit that gets you out of Bronze won't work in Silver.

TLDR; It doesn't take Gold, even a Silver player can coach someone out of Bronze.

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

Personally, I found Silver pretty easy. I found that players in that ELO would constantly group around objectives (towers, dragons, baron) even when it wasn't appropriate to do so or it didn't suit their team composition. Both teams would gather and oppose one another for minutes at a time until people either left or someone got caught and a fight starts.

tl;dr Every game was basically an ARAM with a short laning phase before it.

I usually recommend that players in Silver pick champions with safe poke/waveclear and CC due to this. Waveclear is exceptionally helpful since it lets you fend off sieges while poking down the enemy before a fight starts. CC is extremely useful for catching out targets or disengaging fights during this process.

Personally, I mostly played Varus (ADC), Ziggs (Mid) and Gragas (Jungle) in Silver last season since they possessed these qualities.

LOL OMG YES! I recently made a thread about this asking high ELO players for advice on climbing Silver. What you describe here is spot on. Silver players unlike Bronze players fight nonstop after a short laning phase. It's actually fuckin difficult for me to carry with Kayle, the champ I one-tricked to get out of Bronze. Kayle's team fighting is piss poor early game. I got some helpful advice in that thread though. Couple things I gotta work on still.

Not really. You just said no one play tank or support and that you recommend forgetting about teamwork and focus on self relying champions instead. As someone that has playedin bronze, silver, godl and plat every season since season 3 I can't tell you that tanks do wonder in bronze if you don't mind doing your job quietly because quite honestly no one will notice what you are doing.

I play mostly tanks and I can tell you is quite easy if you know what you are doing, even better thanplaying a self relying champion since in bronze either there is no focus or they focus one specific person that according to them is the most dangerous (usually the one "fed") if said person is the tank then the battle opens for your team if there is simply no focus by locking down the important targets in place you can ensure your team an easy fight.

I don't think you give them enough credit. If you play the game and actually try (no troll builds, no flaming your team mates, pick viable champions) you would be surprised by how much you can actually climb.

Let me analyze you.

For your champions/builds, stop buying item 3147 on everything. You have 400k points on Akali, which is more than enough, but it is wasted if you buy that item. Just follow the recommended build.

Your runes/masteries, stop using movement speed quints. Use AD/AP quints instead. Use thunderlords instead of deathfire touch with your masteries, and stop taking so many utility masteries on assassins (the explorer/wanderer masteries)

Lastly, your cs is poor. Pro mid/top laners will have ~200 cs at 20 minutes. You have about ~50 at 20 minutes. That means your lasting hitting about 1-2 minions per wave, try to last hit 3-4 minions per wave (preferably every minion) and you will have double your cs and much more gold.

You say that your team never has any coordination. Try typing in chat what you want to do.

Good Example: "You guys start baron and I will TP in"

Bad Example: "Yi why do crab instead of baron I had teleport u fkin idiot"

Playing leona. Leash yi at gromp, we are top side team. Head to lane, use pair of relic shield procs. See yi invading enemy at red instead of doing his own blu. Race over to assist his lvl 2 invade at lvl 1 myself. Don't make it in time. Yi gets first blood in .2 seconds. Leona is laughing. Yi runs over to raptors. Mid lane is pushing toward the enemy tower. Yi and Leo simultaneously flash over raptor wall as soon as they are cleared and 3 man dive the mid laner. Dies in .2 seconds. Leona still cracking up, can't breathe any more, hopes ezreal is doing ok 1v2. Follows yi to enemy blu, enemy jg has just respawned. He's at it. Gets jumped by yi and Leona, dies for the second time in .2 seconds. Leona makes first back 0-0-2. Looks at clock, it reads 3:24. Ezreal gets a 1v2 double kill on way back to lane. Proceed to tilt lazy boy back and barely play rest of the match. Free win was free. Enemy aced, nexus naked, Yi backs.

Leona - "Um... why.. why are we not ending yi?"

Yi - "It's ranked. Don't have 1v5 penta kill yet. That first, then end."

Leona - "Dude... seriously... come on man just end the f-"

No. Yi is honestly one of the worst champions to try to reliably climb. He can't gank super effectively until level 6, and if someone lands a lucky (or skillful) Morg Q or any other hard CC, you're going to evaporate like tissue paper in stomach acid.

Picking tanky bruisers that can Split push like Vi, Wukong, or Tryndamere are your best bet. I climbed out of Bronze with an 80% win rate on Xin after they buffed him for no reason.

Walentzack1 votes

i went from bronze 5 to silver 2 playing nothing but sup. u can climb with any role.

Gibberwatt1 votes

You are right abou thte carrying yourself out of it. However, I feel like playing a spoon-feeder supp is good. If you do that, then you can force feed your adc kills, and then your bot lane, at least, will be fed. I like dudes like Anivia and TahmKench, since the first one is a nuke without items, and the second one can save a teammate's butt at least once every 8 seconds.

DemainaNyx1 votes

I don't know what my rank is cause I haven't gotten into ranked much, but I'd assume there are some things a Gold can teach though. Learning to CS is one thing I see a lot of people fail at. When your ADC is at 20 cs 5 minutes into the game and they haven't died or backed once, there's a problem. Or objective control. Yeah, as a support I still need a team to help me do dragon, but maybe if I try to lead they will follow.

Lauchmelder1 votes

Here's a reliable plan to carry as a support:

  1. Pick anything that can peel AND engage. Thresh and Bard come to mind, a Janna works too.

  2. Get your ADC fed. Use powerspikes, especially level 2 (if you lvl up before your enemy does)

  3. When your ADC is fed just peel for him. No matter if you hit a Thresh Q and could engage with Q2. Let your top or midlaner engage on the hooked enemy. Just peel for the ADC while he does big domagez.

  4. climb the ladder

SOLOQSUPERHERO1 votes

=/ This is really true.

I've fluctuated in gold for awhile, sometimes doing poor enough to get matched with people in Bronze. And this weird thing happens when I hit a certain low point or high point for that matter.

I like suddenly can't play right - and it's not that there's a specific thing that I'm doing wrong its that I can't actually accurately predict what my enemy will do or what my teamates will do and I do stupid plays.

For example - suddenly predict where they might dodge is actually not viable because people don't really dodge in bronze

or

Suddenly engaging on a team that's ahead but half health at a full health baron with a Sejuani and Rumble on our side is a bad idea.

I was D1 last season and would smurf a bit, and when I did man was it cancer in bronze. You have team mates straight up going Zilean support full ad build with tank runes, Sion adcs, janna junglers, and just a whole bunch of crazy stuff.

The only way i found to win in bronze is to just dominate your enemy laner and split push the rest of the game, if you see an enemy getting somewhat fed then youd shut them down before they get strong enough to 1v1 you. You split push because bronze-gold elo players are very bad at team fighting. The tank wont engage, the adc engages first, or the tank engages but nobody else does. Thats why you never group in bronze unless youre a support.

In plat youll find people mostly split pushing because they found it worked in bronze-gold, but it doesnt work in plat.

Diamond players will use their lead, group and end. Nobody will split push either if the enemy has a lead because they group and take all the outer towers first. Making it nearly impossible to split push unless you have some miracle getaway champ like Tryndamere or Singed.
