Why do people expect you to carry if they don't try?

So, there was this Yasuo.

I was 2nd pick and I was going to call mid, but 3rd pick instalocks Yasuo and I go Yi bot instead. Yasuo starts to rage and say "Gg". Now, Yi bot is a role that I have played for over 10 games with a positive average success. I tell him to trust me and I will carry if the team works with me. He continues raging. So does Xin Zhao.

After we lose, he says "i thought you were going to carry". I asked him, "what did you do to actually help me carry?". The answer is nothing. He didn't even try. I actually screenshotted him saying that he's not even going to try. So why did he expect me to carry if he doesn't try?

It's the stupid-ass "you made me feed" mentality. It's your fault they gave. You, by picking Yi botlane, physically went to their respective houses, walked over to their computers, unplugged their mice (keyboards must be plugged to give up in chat), and then blamed them for your own actions...

I really don't understand people like that. But unfortunately, it's common. The "i thought you were going to carry" comment is just typical poor behavior. He's butthurt, so he'ss trying to make you butthurt too. Typical attempt at trash talk, that honestly results in them looking worse.

But hey, you put in the effort, right? As long as you tried your best, let them report you. You did your best to cover the team, while they sat back and intentionally fed... Right?

why are you taking yi bot anyway?

and no, having played it for 10 games is pretty much an irrelevant sample size, if a melee carry bot was so good you'd see a lot more people doing it.

in bronze it doesn't matter. what matters in bronze? map awareness, warding the right places, teamwork (which they didn't have) and mechanical skill (clicking the right guy to alpha strike and not accidentlaly clicking a minion)

and playing a champion in a role they should be in helps improve your win chances too. you know, like not playing yi bot.

for example, as much as I love playing irelia, it's not worth playing her mid because the lane is too short and you're too near the enemy team and jungler so you can't really assert your dominance over the lane in the same way that you can stomp someone top and make their lane miserable.
