Why do people rush essence reaver?

Been meaning to ask this for a while. Why rush an item which is dependent on others items to reach its full potential? Is it so stat efficient that even by itself it is better than the alternatives? It seems like a great second or third item, but first? don't you get so much for out a a trinity force or similar?

I think the reason people rush Essence Reaver is the same reason you rush Infinity Edge or The Bloodthirster: you want your core damage item before you get your dedicated crit chance/attack speed items and your penetration item.

Yes, it only really starts to kick in after your second or third item, but even when you buy it it still gives 65 AD, 20% crit chance, 10% CDR, and mana restoration every time you crit. For comparison, Infinity Edge gives 65 AD and 20% crit chance.

For the same reason people rushed IE last season, and BT the season before that; It's just become the meta.

Edit: Also how do i get downvotes for stating that...? Thats what happened in the previous seasons...

Maybe because it only takes an extra 800 gold to get its full effect?

It's passives are strong. Not to mention after a zeal with it you have 30% CDR, which is really nice. Plus mana sustain.

Why not? It's like rushing IE lol. It gives CDR and Crit i don't see why it's bad.

Imo I only rush this on Mf and Sivir they both really need their mana to make a lot of damage and I suck at timing Sivirs shield. And I sometimes rush in on Jinx when I know Im gonna need the rocket launcher a lot, like if Im against a Caitlyn or a blitz. And I only buy it on those 3 champs.

Cooldown reduction and mana sustain are staple stats on marksman champions that play their lane extremely aggressively--in order to keep up their harass--but are otherwise impossible to itemize for in most scenarios. After following up ER with a PD or Shiv or whatever, your champion will have an extremely well-rounded set of stats made doubly effective by the awesome unique passIves these items offer.

becaust BT is too expensive as an rush item that doesn´t scale well...basically leaving ER and IE as rush-ad items (and you need ad before you start buying crit/as on most champs to notice any impact). Both share the same dependency on additional items so it´s basically a question of slightly stronger auto-attacks with 2items vs 30%CDR and some mana.

you aren't supposed to rush it. build components get a zeal or something then build it

Life steal CDR AD and 2 passives and dont forget crit. I wonder why they rush it? Lol

UberAffe12/15/2015, 9:37:19 PM1 votes

I only rush it if I have the gold to do so right away, mostly because of the component costs and that I often get gold the fastest during laning phase. If I have 1300+ gold when I back I'm getting a bf sword, if I have that much again when I back next I get zeal, then finish ER and get one of the static items.

its strong as shit on its own. even if you dont have outright 30% cdr. and crit is really fast and easy to build to follow up the item.

imo it shouldnt grant 10% base cdr and they should lower the cdr from crit passive to 10%.
