How do you beat yasuo? legit question not trying to flame.

RainbowIcee··7 votes·2,272 views

Don't tell me to perma ban that's not an option i'm talking about me vs him in lane. How do i go about it ?

I've never beaten this champ, he either get's fed of killing me at lv 6 or he freezes the lane and get's a great amount of cs for free because my minions will just make him stronger for me being around them. Best chance is to go farm after my minions are dead.

Only time i have won the lane vs yasuo has been because he becomes retarted and starts tower diving or pretty much throwing. so his own player beats him not me. Any tips ?

Laning phase:

  • Don't push him in, he's not very good in roaming if they have no airborne at bot
  • Dodge his Q. Dodge The knock up always, even if he is almost dead
  • Remove his shield with some little damage
  • Keep your eyes on your minion wave to see his dash coming
  • Walk towards him to dodge his EQ
  • Gank him, he has no escape if none of your minions are behind him and he's very squishy

Teamfight:

  • Focus him but not with multiple projectiles. Means focus him with Lux ult, Xerath Q/W, Ryze W, Nautilus passive/ult or Q in melee range etc.
  • Get projectiles or CC on him while he is already stunned/silenced(aka chain cc)
  • Backline should open their eyes and must dodge his Q storm. Thats really easy

Overall:

  • CC him when he wants to use Ult
  • CC him when he is dashing
  • Let you hit by his Q or dodge it closely to bait him
  • He can't use his windwall in mid dash(except if he does EQW)
  • While he is ulting he can't do anything
  • item 3047

If you're playing a skirmisher like him, take exhaust. It will fuck his day like no other. I played Fiora and lane swapped with my Azir in a game, and it didn't matter that he was a rank 7 Yasuo who was actually good, exhaust completely destroys Yasuo

There are ofc things that can help you beat him but as you said it yourself - if yasuo plays perfectly either play his hard counter or cry and wait for nerfs/rework because he nullifies half the league roster

Yas is so ridiculously hard countered by pair of items that cost less than 1200 gold that it's not even funny. The reality is that the majority of the champion roster actually invalidates yasuo as pick.

Yas is probably the most easily countered champion on all of league. Hard countered by items as bad as Zed is hard countered by hourglass.

It depends on who your playing Like my main Darius you beat him by fighting him and zoning him

ArnoldSchwarzens1 votes

Meh. A good Yasuo will outmaneuver Darius. If you happen to stumble over a noob Yasuo though it's a piece of cake.

legionnaire991 votes

You pull him away from the minion and if you stop his dash it still gets the cool down on the target

ArnoldSchwarzens1 votes

Both the animation of Darius' E and Q are long enough for a Yasuo with a good reaction time to dodge it with his own E. And even if you catch him, as long as there are minions around he will get away and make it extremely hard for you to hit your abilities and get all your stacks.

legionnaire991 votes

His dash is slow and will always go the same distance every time so if you start you pull when he dashing you will hit him same with Q

if he plays it right he wins the match up. he can proc his shield multiple times if there are minions around.

Who is Taliyah1 votes

Considering it's yasou top

Yasou is like a spoiled kid. He never helps his team and gets babysitted by his mother (jungler). How do you beat a spoiled kid? Stop giving him attention, a spoiled kid can't stand on its own. In this case, you and your jungler have to destroy the enemy jungler, before he can give yasou enough help to stay on his own.

There are some counter picks that you can learn, like Irelia Renekton Pantheon etc. who have a great time dealing with him. Also, avoid picking Juggernauts like Darius or Illaoi, tanks like Maokai and Nautilus or ranged toplaners like Gnar or Quinn into him because Yasuo has a great time dealing with them.

In general, try to avoid allied minion waves if possible because he will outmaneuver you. This has helped me a lot, just try to keep it in mind because everyone of us usually has the instinct to do the complete opposite and hug them instead.

RainbowIcee1 votes

on that same note that's my main issue, farming. I hate having to let him free farm and just let him wave clear providing an opening for him to roam and minions to freely hit my tower. Should I just let them keep doing that?

ArnoldSchwarzens1 votes

That's why Irelia Renekton and especially Pantheon are such good picks against him. Yasuo might have a lot of early pressure but not nearly as much as they do, and he also can't do his annoying E spam against them as reliably because they have the two things that are perfect for dealing with that - single-targeted CC and damage that he won't be able to dodge. Even better, Pantheon also has the luxury of being able to run ignite to fuck up his Warlord's and his passive to block his Q and autos, he's just an overall great pick into him.

yeah one reason is the fact that pant's attacks crit at 15% HP or less, no amount of warlords is gonna save you form that.

HyperZEROXL1 votes

Would these be good picks against him? Yorick Swain Shen Mordekaiser

ArnoldSchwarzens1 votes

Oh I really don't know - Yorick will probably get outmaneuvered like every other Juggernaut, also, you are way dependant on your E which Yasuo will be able to dodge way too easily.

Swain will probably have a really shitty matchup pre6 but after that you can pretty much just ignore his annoying E jumping because your ult birds will hit him anyway.

Shen doesn't have nearly enough burst and you don't have enough kill pressure early on, which means that after he gets PD he will just outDPS you like every other tank.

Mordekaiser is another Juggernaut which means that he will also get outmaneuvered by Yasuo. Something that he got going for him though is instant cast and single target damage that Yasuo won't be able to avoid with his wind wall and E but to be honest, I really have no idea about the matchup because I never play nor see Mordekaiser ever.

HyperZEROXL1 votes

Alrighty! Thanks! Looks like I'm going to hunt down yas tops to test Mordekaiser Yorick

GULAG 4 U2 votes

Mordekaiser shits on Yasuo after level 3 so hard it's not even funny

RainbowIcee1 votes

I wouldn't think so, Mord's main bread and butter dmg is his Q if yasuo is aware he can simply wait it out before going in on you. Even if you have the Q activated chances are you'll only hit him with 1 so it better be the last one by which he would see what you're trying to do and not go in.

GULAG 4 U1 votes

It's more like he can't even go onto you without getting fucked up

RainbowIcee1 votes

you can try it but i wouldn't bet on it. Mords atck animation is kinda slow. Yas can probably get a good 2 Q's in and an auto on you while dashing around before you land 1 Q which will probably be blocked by his Passive if you miss your E before hand.

Risk of Fate1 votes

If you're playing a ranged AP champion, constantly poke him whenever he comes up to farm. Auto attack his shield as it comes up so that to try and fight you would mean he'll eat all your abilities. Freeze the lane by your tower or halfway up since that means he'll have to risk himself to ganks.

As for his windwall, you can easily bait it by faking an all in. Don't ask me what the cooldown is because in all the times I've fought him, I've never really kept track of the thing, but my rough guess tends to be at least 20-25 seconds which is more than enough time to burst them from half health.

An early armor item like Zhonya's or at the very least the seeker's part. Should he stack his tornado, either stay far out of range or dodge it, most will not waste it if they can't get a hit off on you so usually will use it to farm. Make sure you're always in tower range if he manages to get an ult off on you, be ready with any CC you have to keep him there.

With any other snowball champ, if he doesn't manage to beat you in lane, he'll try to roam for kills, be aware of that. It only takes one kill or even an assist to get it rolling. In team fights, he should always be the first one taken down. If he's allowed to ult, more than 2 of your teammates, you should be trying to either catch him out or positioning better.

I've never lost lane to a Yasuo as Malphite. Stack armor, especially randuins, and max his ground pound first. Any time Yas comes close to you slap the ground and start wailing on him, try to auto first to get rid of the shield. You'll be doing a lot more damage to him than he does to you.

Who are you trying to beat him with? Each champion has to deal with yasuo in different ways. If you're a melee champion building item 3075 item 3033 item 3143 are good items to destroy yasuo with, especially thornmail as it takes his speed and deals him damage. If you get specific about who you want to beat him with I can help.

Very Hard Engage1 votes

you play a better stat stick, an armor tank is also acceptable.

the other acceptable method is to have no confrontation with him at all or wait for him to make a mistake and punish him for it.

Karthusis with exh

GULAG 4 U1 votes

It's pretty simple once you learn how to play yasuo, so I suggest you trying to do that.

So for the passive, if you are playing a bruiser, obviously go ninja's tabi. If you're a tank, build randiun's too. If you are a mage, hourglass. You want to keep his shield down by autoing him whenever it's possible.

Don't push him in. Freeze the lane right outside your tower and he gets fucked, he can't dash without potentially going under your tower. If he tries to dash to you, walk to your casters so he takes damage from them. Don't be a pussy, fight back. Picking exhaust is always a good idea.

winteriscoming971 votes

Farm passively, bait out wind wall, proc his passive, then all-in.

jaymc11301 votes

Are you a melee champ? item 3751 is auto win versus him in lane. Literally. As soon as any melee champ gets this item yas loses his lane.

Are you a mage? item 3802 congrats, as soon as you have this item you can waveclear all day from a zillion units away and never have to interact with Yas for the remainder of lane, unless, of course, you decide you want to just kill him in which case go for it.

Are you an ADC? Yah, you're fucked.

Project MOBASIM1 votes

no no no, if you want to beat yasuo in lane stick to the ranged minions, when yasuo dashes in to hit you just stand and counter him, you will cause him to do negligent trades and he will end up with less health than you, when he's lvl 6 you gotta be away from minions and just competently harass his health so he isnt encouraged to harass you.

Papa Slothy1 votes

dont push him in and look at where he could dash and how you could win that

XYTlRdgVBl1 votes

idk what everyone else is saying, i main yasuo and destroy everything mentioned. The biggest problem for me is facing akali, you cant outplay her, she just shreds Yasuo and makes him useless.

Reefersixnine1 votes

You pick a real champion to counter him, one that's "new meta" overpowered, like Nautilus. Nautilus

Laning phase: take exhaust.. you can exhaust him during his ult. This sets up ganks for your jungler and allows you to punish him for misplays easier.

AA to get rid of his passive and then proceed to zone him

If he has third Q ready, most Yasuos will either do three things

  1. Dash with E towards you then spam E away (off of pure reactions you should be able to land at least one skill shot off before he throws up his wind wall)

  2. Dash with E towards you then wind wall immediately to continuously proc Q and auto. (This means just walk away in lane)

  3. Poke with tornado(constant movement makes it difficult to land this)

Do not run towards the creep wave when trying to run from Yasuo. Just run into the JG

Ward in good spots. Many junglers will try to babysit him since he is easy to gank with

If possible play point and click champions or melee with gapclosers (irelia works wonders)

A good skillshot oriented mage pick would be Zyra since most Yasuos miscalculate wind wall ranges and still eat hit with plant AAs, and the ultimate should cover his dash shenaninagins entirely

If the matchup is that bad, just farm under tower

Sire Hippington1 votes

Yasuicide has a quite good list. Aditionally:

  • If he Es on you, he'll usually add the Q on it, which allways performs on the end of the dash. Walking right towards him when he's going to dash will make him miss the Q+E combo, as he'll dash to far to land the Q-spinn since E always dashes for a fixed distance.

  • Respect his powerspikes!!!! His level 1 and 2 are pretty massive, just play passive and accept that you loose some cs. After that, he gets a bit weaker till he gets a big spike at 6. Respect that his ult is damn powerfull if he gets it, so don't get your self into a lvl 6 all in unless you are sure to dodge the knockup and thus the ult. After 6, he starts dropping till he hits his item spikes.

  • His Early dps is good, but not exeptional, he needs AS and Crit from items befor really getting high dps, so many champs can actually win extendet trades early on, especially since he usually gets minion aggro.

  • His E isn't your ordenary dash, it is affected by slows and any hard cc interupts it.

  • landing CC on him while he lands the knockup will prevent him from useing the ult.

  • his Q has some decent cd early on, meaning his has a downtime that you can use.

  • items with small ranged/aoe damage help procing his passive shield in lane. item 3077 item 3751 are your friend.

  • he's really squishy without his shield, and lacks inate sustain(though lifesteal usually covers that easily these days)

  • unlike popular belive, his windwall actually has a huge cd early on. Try to not throw all at once at him, and force him to leave the safety of his wall if he wands to continue the fight. he's still a melee after all.

  • Q and AAs both get reduced by item 3047 and item 3143 , so totall of 19% damage reduction on top of your armor and randuins AS slow

  • His Q IS dodgeable, try to sidestep it(if you play yasuo yourself, you get a feeling for the cd and can aniticipate it, so grap him for some games, even if it's just bot games, once he's in the free weak)

  • He can't use his windwall duering his E, so if you can atticipate his dash, you can hrwo stuff at him without him windwalling it off

  • if you run from him, avoid your minions paths to not igve him dashes
