For everyone who thinks Zed is OP

I made a post a while back about how Zed has (and will always), see fluxes in his viability based on the meta. Anyone who just watched the GV vs TSM game just now got a taste of this. This isn't the first time a not-so-uncommon team comp has made Zed a non-factor, and it won't be the last. True an Urgot pick happened, but the peel and tankiness of the ENTIRE TEAM really destroyed any potential for Zed to do ANYTHING. He even failed to kill an Urgot with under a quarter HP, after shield. This isn't a scrub Zed player either, obviously.

So please, can we take a step back and stop the Zed is OP stuff. Build a frozen heart, hourglass, qss, or any combo of those, then profit.

Problem is just that. Countering Zed requires a team-comp with both peel and tankiness as well as Pro-level teamwork. Good luck finding that in yolo-queue.

A team built to counter him with 5 players who have (together) worked out a cohesive strategy to do so, beat Zed. Wow. He's clearly totally balanced.

They beat a team designed around making a split push zed team comp work. If he is so OP, then surely, he would be instant win, regardless of comp. He didn't do anything effective on the split push that whole game.

Not even late season 3 Kassadin was an instant win for picking. You had to, you know, play the game too. Zed isn't so bad. Maybe it's just his easier harass in lane that people don't like. Why don't we make it so that his Q can only go through 2 targets to make his harass less reliable, but still let him all-in to kill, and leap out.

Look I'm sorry but "if he is so OP he should be instant win regardless of other factors" is a ridiculous argument. If you think that is what being overpowered is then no champion in the history of the game has ever been worth nerfing.

When you say stuff like that you just sound like a Zed main trying to make excuses for your champion. Surely you can defend his power level without such ridiculousness.

I agree with you, but you won't get support here. Everyone here just got wrecked by:

  • A really fed Zed
  • Lee 'win'
  • Kalista
  • Any champion with mobility
  • Any energy champion
  • Any AD midlaner

1st rule of boards is accepting that there is no counterplay to any of these things, suggesting that there is should result in immediate dismemberment.

The problem with Zed is his unnecessary strengths. He's not considered OP because "omg too much damage", he's considered OP because he has a god-tier splitpush and waveclear, he has a get-out-of-jail R thank to his reactivation, he has a powerful poke early game and can out-range some ranged mages, which is stupid. Just compare him to Talon. Talon's assassination is quicker, that's true. But his splitpush potential is meh, his waveclear requires to waste mana and even then it's less powerful, his escaping mechanic with his R is not instant and can be countered by true vision or landing non-targeted spells, his poke early game is very poor, he has to use his full combo and EXPOSE himself in order to harass, and, even then, he pays with mana if he does so.

Because we aren't pros with top notch coordination. We're solo Q players who probably have sub-par communication. Assassins will always thrive in solo queue. As will the dickwads playing them.

Well the other team with Zed is also a solo queue player operating under the same restrictions. It is probably harder to organize a good split push comp then a "run and press R team fight comp"
