So are we ever going to restrict people who bad connection from ranking?

LegendmakerGX··4 votes·415 views

Seriously tired of idiots who want to play rank but finds out they have bad connection and ruin their teams game If they have bad connection to the game server then restrict their rank game until it's better. It's a joke how people have to go in games where there is a 5v4 situation and waste peoples time I don't care if it seem unfair for them if they have bad connection since you know what's unfair? Being force to play with people who have bad internet connection in rank.

Yes Fawkn maybe actually rank and try to climb rather then just sleep around the board all day. Do you even play rank or even care about rank to ask really? Or do you just play aram which doesn't last over 15-20 min long while rank game can range to 30 min?

man i really dont even know where to start with you on this one...

the fallacy in your statement about people having control over their internet connections and how they are suppose to predict what will or wont happen as if its in their control.

ideally if you wanna do anything on line you should have a good connection... however just because your internet dont indicate an issue when you are just on the boards or just logged into client dont mean you cant have lag and connections issues once you are in live game with the amounts of data transfer is greatly increased.

and the fact that you think that you want to regulate this and police this in any manner like its actually feasible to do is laughable.

dude shit happens. people lose connection have lag or other technical issues beyond their control

it sucks for the person it happens to and yes it sucks for the others who are victim to it by having that person dc/lag or whatever

but in the only way this would never be an issue is on a LAN CONNECTION that isnt reliant on so many different ISP, routers, modems, computers... etc

hence why the only true form of competitive play in this game as at the pro level. they are all on a dedicated server via a lan connection and all use the same set up (monitors, computers ) therefore no one has better "equipment " or "tech" to give them an advantage

and playing rank or aram or normals or custom games with friends which ever the game mode every one wants a good stable connection to play and enjoy the game no on intends on being that guy who creates that issue which is all reality is completely outside of their control so please stop using rank as a crutch for your argument

Dear fk I SAID RESTRICT THE RANK so they can't start going in Que I don't mind if they play and D.C but if they LAGG and want to start rank then don't let them. Riot also shows you your connection speed to the server bud they they can actually know if a person is lagging or not just from the start of the client because we are connected to their server.

Like I said play rank since you clearly don't know people actually want to climb but you play normal and aram only? Which doesn't get recorded or a challenger other then have fun and fool around.

alot of times it not the individual it could be on riots end too...

then what?

and like i said just cuz you can connect dont mean once you start to load and in game wont have an issue due to increased data transfer and packet loss for whatever reason..

its kinda like amps going down a fused wire... that wire is made of copper strands of wire to make the whole wire... if you ohm the wire you might have good resistance and the wire seems good but due to deterioration of individual strands inside the wire once that wire is put under a load it cant handle the load. it has resistance and it creates a voltage drop through the wire where on the end of the circuit lacks the current it needs perform the task of that circuit. so to truly tell if a electrical circuit is good you cant just ohm test it... you have to load test the circuit

this principle would apply to lag issues ... so a simple ping test outside of game where the load isnt as heavy on the connection just lets you know the connection is there dont let you know if the connection can handle the load

Advice bud when it's Riot end it would effect a mass amount of players resulting in loss forgiven.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

not always , not exactly true... where there is a mass issue then yes...

but if that is your only rebuttal then i think we are done here

p.s. every one who plays a rank game is subjected to lag and/or connection issues via whatever the cause ... and it has effected every one who has played rank by them having the issue or a team mate or the enemy having the issue...

over the course of a season or your "rank career" of league considering how it this issue does effect all in some way would balance out and wouldnt make a silver player into a diamond player or vise versa just the same with autofills, trolls, feeders we all deal with it... it balances out over the course... and if you think that is gonna make a different is your "rank " over the course of the season it chances of that would be slim to none.

Lets settle down a bit and avoid the rude comments about rank and people's play habits. To quote a known saying "do unto others as you would have done to you."

Unless they're a squealing drooling brat that needed his parent's help to even install league of legends and as soon as he finished grinding his way up to level 30 and going 0/32/15 against bots the first thing he thinks is "YAAAAY, I'M GONNA PLAY RANKED, I'LL PLAY WITH THE BIG BOYS FINALY, MY LONG EFFORTS WILL BE REWARDED, MOM GET THE CAMERA!!!"

And then becomes a living minefield if any players ever dare to call him out being garbage at the game, but in the meantime he went 0/11/0 full tank kassa top in your placements, along with a bunch more of kids/trolls in other games and he got you placed in whatever elo.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

what does this have to do with bad connections in games?

Zelorxon2 votes

Because every normal person that learned to read and write would open their terminal/command prompt and type "ping 8.8.8.8" and check their connection (i just discovered that in windows you have to add -t otherwise it gives you only a very useful 4 lines result). Since i realized recently that league is filled with kids nowadays they're probably thinking the opponent is being "lucky" when they actually have 8 mlg no scope videos opened in the background and the last update of five nights at freddy's downloading, so i don't really trust them being responsible enough to know how a computer works or to avoid playing if they have 300 ping with 10% packet loss, especially because they struggle playing with a decent connection.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

i would agree people wouldnt or dont realize that if you are gonna play online games that having no other programs or websites open is ideal to get the best out of your connection...

however there is alot of things that cause connection issues, lag, packet loss etc

but restricting people from playing "rank" due to a "bad or slow connection" would be bad for RIOT considering they consider themselves a "FREE TO PLAY " game meaning any one can play but by gating this... then only those who have proper equipment and good connections that can afford them would be allowed to play them it becomes "PAY TO PLAY " by proxy ...

this would be fine if league wanted to be a subscription base game where you have to pay to play the game lets say $10 a month or whatever then people would be most likely more invested in making sure their shit is up to snuff. but even then what about the ISPs? and connections between your computer and them and all the hardware in between all the way to riot ?

but then again not all ISPs and connection speeds are the same in all areas there are places that still run on dsl connections and that would barely be enough to do anything on line now let alone play a on line game live with others .

there is alot to take in and consider

Zelorxon1 votes

Nothing so radical, all league needs is maybe a popup that says "hey, your connection looks pretty bad right now, are you sure you want to queue up for ranked?" And if they lose several games in a short period of time/in succession, they are temporarily locked out from ranked, since they're not LCS players and they don't actually care about the quality of the game, both because they don't have the skills and because if they actually cared they didn't went into a game knowing that they will spend 30 minutes fighting their own cursor that doesn't directs them where they want. If you queue up knowing that you have a bad connection either you don't give a fuck or you're trying to intentionally mess with people.

Just lock them out from ranked for a short period so they have time to do whatever it's needed to fix their problem, i don't think you want to go in your end season gold V promos and have your top laner ping in chat "284 ping" and have the enemy fiora 12/0/0 by 10 minutes that deals 1/4hp to your 4/0/2 gragas while your adc abandons lane and goes top just to feed some more kills because he's trying to be "positive" and "sportsmanlike".

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

but like i stated it effects everyone... good/bad inbetween and over the course of a season it balances out...

so it really wouldnt have that be effect of placement of ranks...

ok so as your example the gold v promos... well ok it screwed you that time but if you are truly good enough to climb through gold you will and that one game wont stop you from achieving whatever rank your skill determines you to be worthy of.

and 2ndly rank is just a way for riot to place people of similar skill range together to play a "challenging yet competitive fair game play" to keep people playing which ends up makes people watch/consume /play /buy more RIOT products which makes more $ for riot

a bronze player dont wanna get stuck vs diamonds and diamonds dont wanna play vs bronze cuz its fun for neither and both would quit playing if this was the case... hence RANK/TEIRS/MMRS

Sure, just be intelligent and you'll make a lot of money, this is why trump, hillary clinton, fucking paris hilton and some other guy are eating caviar for dinner while i'm here eating top ramen and tesla died a homeless hobo and spent several years in a mental asylum for no reason.

Ok i'll bait to the no true scotsman: something something, it's the last day of ranked season, you had your troubles the whole year and you couldn't play many ranked games, in your last promo game that will grant you a free yet worthless skin that you just want to have because it's free and it's nice to have free stuff you lose your game because of a guy with connection problems that ruined it all.

Another example, you're sitting at your office, after having typed a 20 page essay, Smith sits at your computer while you're away grabbing a coffee, he deletes the file and every backup because he was either careless or because he did it to spite you for some reason, you go to your boss and he replies with a smug smile to you "well, if you are REALLY a hard worker, you won't have any trouble typing it all over again". Oh, and if you complain about that in your office you might get fired your account for toxicity.

By the way it wasn't this the topic, i don't care how small is my pee pee, i just want to minimize the non enjoyable games since for anything else the cancerous players that i meet in game take care of everything already, i don't need bad connections adding the candied cherry on top of that.

... you do realize that "ping 8.8.8.8" doesn't tell you what ping you'll have in game, right?

8.8.8.8 is Google's DNS server.

What you did is comparable to saying you know how long a road trip to San Francisco will take because you know the time it took you to drive to New York City. You know the car works, and that you can get out of your neighborhood, but that's about it.

It wasn't presented as an example, it was presented as the way to check. That's why I'm calling him out on saying that it's something that "every normal person that learned to read and write" would do, because he's doing it wrong.

You can have a good idea tho, i usually ping 20-30 so i know i'll have 40 in game.

Unless they're foreign players then maybe sure that's a little more predictable.

No because ranked has become the new normals.

Especially to some twitch streamers. lul
