Powerful Passives vs Adequate Actives

Now, I'm not talking about the dedicated passive every champion has... although some are actually active passives... if that makes sense. http://68.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lt25koAqOO1qzrlhgo2_250.gif No, I am talking about a purely passive active ability, like Teemo's Toxic Shots, Vi's Denting Blows, or Twisted Fates' Stacked Deck. These abilities have no interaction with the player at all, and I'm not saying they are weak. In fact, they have the potential to be the most powerful abilities in the game, since there is no skill shot to take, no reaction time or cooldown to work around, they simply are, but that is the problem I am seeing. http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x12/goatburgler/button9uh.gif Should a passive active ability that takes away gameplay from a champion, but provides incredible power, be allowed to stay in the game? https://www.delivra.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/history-eraser-button-ren-and-stimpy-cartoon.gif

I'm not saying get rid of them, Teemo can still have his poison, Vi can still shred armor, and TF can still have attack speed, but just mitigate their power a bit and move them elsewhere to make room for a new active ability.

Like how they squeezed all of Galio's old kit into his passive and 2 actives and they gave him 2 all new abilities.

I think the reason they get put on ability slots is because those effects take so much of their power budget that they basically not only have to give up an ability slot, but also can't have then at level 1 with another ability.

Then again, Ashe upgraded from that Category so maybe its only a matter of time.

We can only hope.

These gifs are beyond distracting...

ANYWHO, I think passives that eat up entire move slots are an issue when it comes to balancing. They're either easily forgotten or they're so strong it's ridiculous. A passive tacked on to a "meh" move, or a passive tacked onto a move with high variability in success, is one thing. A whole move slot being a passive tends to be pretty bad from my perspective. I don't like them.

But they are perfect for the conversation. I should edit a W on the button tho.

Agreed, but then again, there are those people who will always argue that a champion is perfect as is and doesn't need changing. And I can see where they are coming from, their passive power being their gameplay, but I can't really stomach that kind of mentality, everything can be improved on, and it should.

Those type of people are the absolute worst.

On a side not, I really wanted to squeeze in one more gif but that was overkill http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DsGw6xsEPv4/UaIJAayGfMI/AAAAAAAAAgM/cdxFjxhi_NE/s1600/icecreamgif.gif
