The current, cookie cutter marksman build is this:

item 3006 item 3031 item 3087 item 3072 item 3035 Defensive item

Basically, this build contains:

  • Core damage item (IE)
  • Multiplier (Shiv)
  • A ton of AD and Lifesteal (BT)
  • Anti-Armor (LW)
  • Shoes
  • Defensive item of choice, mostly Mercurial Scimitar

Despite slight variation, the core items of this build were virtually set in stone. Hence, Riot's explicit goal for was to enable marksman to make sensible and informed choices that will impact their way of playing the game in this preseason.

Let's have a look at it, shall we?

The first thing that comes to mid is that the new items basically still adhere to the general quartett of item purposes outlined above. In fact, the new and redone items could even fit better to this than before.

With this observation, I'd organise the following base on these four purposes. For the sake of brevity, I will not show build paths for now.

i cant decide if the pd buff is absolutely retarded op for marksmen, or if it makes it a great bruiser item.

either way, that thing is getting nefed. 12% damage reduction on an adc and a 12% ms kiting passive on those base stats is op as fuck. if this thing stays in the game, its going to be an arms race between melee and range. basically if the adc gets this item you have to get either a pd or dead mans on a melee or youre fucked.

either way, this item will be better off on melee fighters like yi and xin i think. lol at tryn with phantom dancers.

on the plus side, crit garen just became a lot better.

edit.: holy shit that ghostblade.

Graves has the potential to become REALLY obnoxious to play against with that, true.

I already liked him. Very soon (TM) he will be a TRUE shotgun toting, grit covered badass. And also his BASIC ATTACKS function like his current Q... ALWAYS.

ghostblade got improved for them though. straight up more ad seems more useful for them than that extra crit % on auto attacks. it really seems like a better assassin item now.

well. as least if you dont get auto attacked by a pd carry once and lose 12% of your burst.
