Boot Pouches - A Boot Enchantment

Enchantment - Boot Pouches:

Can be applied to all types of Tier 2 Boots. 300-500 gold

Gives your Boots the ability to act as a slot for consumables.

Essentially, an idea of mine to enable space in capped-out item builds for these nifty little things: item 2055 . Purchasing the pouches allows a high-gold role (or any role, if the game goes on forever) to participate in the vision game. However, the high purchase cost for merely gaining a restricted item slot is there to restrict the option towards situation were you're not as restricted with your gold as you are with item slots.

For an example, think of an AP mage with Morello/Zhonya's/Void Staff/Liandry's/Luden's backing on 2k gold. With these boots, the mage would be able to purchase a Needlessly Large Rod, the Boot Pouches and a few Control Wards to enable Baron Control to finally end the game. Without the pouches, said mage could either buy his NLR or a few Control Wards.

Addendum: Boot Pouches are not to be confused with Sword Boots. These are for maximum dunkage, and belong to MasterYi .

Missed joke aside, doesn't R2D20 kind of have a point? From what I understand Cass' numbers were balanced with the knowledge that she'd never need to buy boots of any kind, meaning she doesn't just get a free item slot that she can use for trinkets/etc.

ModKnightsKemplar1 votes

appropriate nerf for never having to buy boots.

FantasySniper2 votes

Well, I don't know, doesn't everybody have the same option, though? An ADC can replace Berserker's Greaves with Phantom Dancer and do just fine if not better depending on the situation.

Cassiopeia's passive prevents her from accessing specific effects that only boots possess; slow resistance, tenacity, basic attack damage reduction, and summoner spell CDR.

In fact, there's an argument to be made that preventing her from buying boots only makes things harder on her. It cuts off access to mag.pen. and MS as every other mage rushes Sorc Shoes for these stats. Liandry's is also a terrible rush on Cass, and isn't even purchased any more than 15% of all her games, so it can't replace Sorc Shoes in the slightest.

You get 15 MPen on item 3136, 1500g and gives other stats.

Who said anything about rushing the full item?

FantasySniper1 votes

If you're building Haunting Guise, you should be finishing it into Liandry's right after.

Because otherwise, you could build much better component items like Fiendish Codex or Blasting Wand and finish them into much better completed items faster.

FilDaFunk1 votes

So first you say rushing item 3151 is a waste, now you say you have to finish it once you start.

If you want MPen, there is an item available, costing only slightly more than item 3020.

No one's forcing you to rush a full item; if you need MPen you can buy item 3136, otherwise, buy something else.

FantasySniper1 votes

No, I haven't changed what I said at all. I said Liandry's is a terrible rush. But Haunting Guise is an even worse rush if that's where you finish building.

If there's a reason why you're building it at all, it's because you want Liandry's for its passive in the few cases where it's supposed to be worth it.

Otherwise you're making a mistake because there are more superior items than Haunting Guise for cheaper prices.

I would love this. Late game the map goes dark because people have switched to item 3364 and no one can buy wards anymore because no more item slots.

Melledoneus2 votes

The game becomes laser tag late game.

Tier 3 boots will be back soon

But I like the idea, late game vision really tends to get starved out and the map can be really dark at times making it difficult to walk around your jungle without the fear of being attacked by someone.

I think even with T3 boots (given they don't have actives), boot pouches can be useful.

Friendly Ram2 votes

Consumables also covers elixirs and pots(including corrupting). i like the idea but how many people do you think will just use this as a 5pot slot?.

TheSingularity1 votes

Tbh i doubt a tank or fighter will as they'll jist regen back up when poked.

I'd rather carry an elixir so it isn't already timing down when i buy it or a ward

Faceroll Tactics1 votes

High level play includes having a health potion ready to use... at all times.

A tank or a fighter will just regen their health when poked, but the real beauty of the potion is having increased health regen WHEN fighting. So I think if this was added all the pros would just stack hp pots in it because they're so valuable and cheap

So...

Pockets in your boots? I'd like that to be a real life thing tbh.

58697132DEL12 votes

I like it. Allows me to stack a bunch of wards or pots or even one of those flask things no one ever remembers to grab even though im full in my inventory.

I think this is a great thing. I think this thing should happen.

Well, that was a thing, but then they removed pink wards from trinkets. I don't think they like those being so accessable.

ProfDrDeath7 votes

Pink Ward Trinket had two flaws this doesn't have:

  • It was essentially a better Red Trinket.
  • It gave an unlimited amount of Vision Wards for no additional cost (and those were 125 gold back then, mind you!)

This doesn't have these drawbacks - buying the pouches doesn't give you any wards, it merely gives you the ability to use the boot slot to store (and use) consumables in.

R0XTAR1 votes

This would also be an awesome idea for anyone that is NOT support. Each teammate could back with 1000 gold and purchase the pouch and have their choice of either 2 control wards or 2 stealth wards. The catch is that they cannot place any more wards until the ones previously placed expire. Whatcha think?

R0XTAR1 votes

I like the whole Elixir thing so it isn't automatically consumed upon purchase when you're full inventory.

This would be too complicated for a game that uses dumbing down the genre as a core selling point. I could see boots with a ward active, but that would seem forced.

AlienPrimate4 votes

If that is too complicated for you, you shouldn't be playing anything more extravagant than tic-tac-toe.

I'm not talking about me, I'm talking about the stroke victim that Riot's behavior indicates they think their average player is.

dumbing down? Thats HotS. No last hits, no items no summoners, etc.

Lux Is Mai Waifu1 votes

HotS traded those for new complexities in the form of objectives and maps, it is slightly more simplified than LoL at the moment but I think it has the potential to mature to about the same level.

An Enemy Sutando2 votes

Did you get lost on your way to discuss HotS?

Lux Is Mai Waifu1 votes

did you get lost on your way to understanding anything about the genre and LoL's place in it?

Oblivious Denial1 votes

Nice idea. It'll allow control wards to be used and bought late game when everyone is at max items.

Rouwhorst1 votes

Why does it have to be on boots. Unless you want to solidify the use of boots even more, you can also just make a potion which adds an 8th consumable-only slot. Or just a 8th consumable-only slot all together without having to buy it

Lux Is Mai Waifu1 votes

Boots will always be under fire because they feel bad in this game. They are a statistically good buy, but only mobi boots and maybe swifties make an impact that is noticed and appreciated easily by the player. DotA has good boots. Enchantments were a step in the right direction. Now boots are boring again.

Poor Cass

TheIronRevenant2 votes

She has an extra slot anyway

sta supra1 votes

i like the idea of having a consumable slot but i don't think it should be on boots what if it was an item that gave stats and also lets you carry consumables. when playing support you can normally buy wards all game but when you cant do that anymore it gets really annoying would love to be able to carry pink wards around after full build. i saw some people complaining about how pro's will probably just fill it with 5 health pots but in pro play vision is MUCH more competitive so giving up that extra vision will hurt a lot though i can still see people building this into poke heavy team comps. another idea is to carry around an extra elixir i actually can't see this being very useful but if your not dying then having 10 minutes of elixir without backing could be nice.

Imagining what a boot pouch would look like is very funny
