why is there CDR on his ult and it goes to 30%?

the only thing i can figure is to get ryze to stop building frozen heart item 3110 hes going to build it regardless if you give him extra stats or not. maybe you dont want ryze building CDR items which still seems his optimal build for what ryze is.

what is the item build that a person will do on him now? item 3285 item 3020 item 3040 item 3110 / item 3001 item 3089

maybe swap the last two items conditionally ... but why the extra 30% 'passive' stat. it feels like a weak bait to get him off his core. and giving him an ability now to stack tear? item 3070 basically moved ryze to a OP support champ. he will build item 3069 its going to happen..

here is the strat that basically you do with ryze support

Q= 4 times... to build up passive W= to snare a person .. your shield pops. full combo... Q R E Q then walk away.. its basically gives the enemy laner a sad cookie..

I don't understand why people are going to stop building Frozen Heart now.

Sure he gets 30% on his passive and Frozen gives 20%.

But that is still 10% CDR you are getting, 400 mana for his spells and shield, and 100 armor/passive for tankyness. Giving up those things because you are not going use 10% of the 20% CDR just sounds dumb to me.

This is like the whole thing about Azir anditem 3115 again.

I think Iceborn Gauntlet will be build more now.

Now that Ryze doesn't need the extra cdr and actually has downtime between his combos, he can use the Spellblade well.

Still evebn then the extra the cd is annoying, because thatb wasn't his only cdr option, WotA is another for example.

i think many many threads are showing that they just nerfed ryze so hard that hes just going to be blue goo (im exagerating ofc)

I used to build ryze like this: item 3040 item 3027 item 3110 item 3089 item 3111 item 3065

Lots of dmg from his ap scaling and mana.

now hes going to do a lot less dmg with a lot less reliability and tankyness.

we are lucky he never used DFG.

He'll probably be doing more damage. And he'll still be tanky. He will almost always build item 3027 item 3040 which gives him plenty of health and the mana from these items will boost his shield on his passive and the shield on Seraph's. Now he has the option to build resistances based on his lane opponents and the overall damage output of the enemy team. He was locked into building FH, but now he has options. For armor he can get item 3143 item 3075 item 3026 instead of always getting FH. His new build could be interesting as people will learn how he can build alternatively. He was locked into 3 core items and now he only has 2. In addition, I think his damage will be boosted based on his E. It can shred MR by 36% which is equivalent to the penetration provided by Void Staff. Ryze could choose to stack his E with Void or he could use that slot for another item that he could make use of.

I don't know how his build will work out, but he will always build Tear for the ability spam and scaling it provides. RoA will still be bought on him in almost every game. Other than that he has quite a few options: item 3285 works on him as it gives bonus damage and Ryze can throw out many abilities to stack the item and he makes good use of MS. item 3001 will give him more MR reduction. Penetration items like Sorc Boots and Void will give him more damage. Just about any defensive item can work on him now. I would avoid item 3089 as his AP ratios aren't that great. Another option that seems more viable on Ryze now is to stack multiple RoA's because he doesn't need CDR anymore.

These are my thoughts. And I think people are underestimating how strong his E is going to be. Think about using his E when his Ult and passive are active his ult makes his abilities deal additional AOE damage and his E hits up to 7 enemies (original target +6) at a time (only possible around a full wave of minions) the E's bounces will have AOE on them as well and then the E returns to the original target with boosted damage depending on if and how many targets it bounced off. This will be another AOE tick of damage. And that's just with one E. You can hit multiple E's when your passive is up if you spam Qs inbetween casts. On top of that, it shreds %MR which will be great for taking out tanks.

People have been complaining about the rework, but I think it's going to be great. He has definite windows of power for him and his opponents to work around and I think it will vastly improve his gameplay.

rabs is really good actually. the seraph mana ap boost gives you lots of ap. ppl say his scaling arent that great. sure. they are a bit under leblancs. but people seems to forget that he spams his spells. so his scaling are normal for someone who just shoots loads of them. with that build, baron buff and elixirs. i can get to 650 ap. thats an extra 400-500 dmg PER Q/W . thats quite significant.

Yeah, I kinda thought of that after I posted this. His AP ratio on his Q is going to be .55 or something and if that's coming out every 2 seconds without his passive and every .5 seconds when his passive is up, it will add up. Kinda like Cassiopeia's E. Low ratio, but it still gets a lot of damage from Deathcap. I would wonder how the Deatcap would matchup to the Luden's; I imagine Deathcap would give a little more damage overall, but Luden's can have more damage if he gets it early on and adds to his burst (he could get two procs off of it easily with his passive = 2*[100+.15(400)]=320 extra damage added on to his combo). Compare that to a 550 AP of a Deathcap Ryze = 150 extra AP x .55 .40 .30 = 1.25 will come out to ~200 exta damage between those 3 abilities. 2 more Qs and an E will bring the total to over 400 extra damage from the 150 extra AP before resistances. So the Deathcap will definitely add more damage later in the game. Earlier though, before Ryze complete's Archangels, the Luden's will most likely do more damage. The problem with this is if Ryze will have the time to build Luden's before Ryze hits ~500 mana on his Tear when Archangels becomes fairly cost efficient. After Archangels is built, Deathcap will probably be stronger. The other problem I see is if he has room to build either of them in a standard build. He will still need defenses to survive long enough to get all of his damage off. Going full offense puts Ryze in a tough spot, particularly against kiting AD's. Randuin's and Thornmail could be more beneficial if Ryze is being kited.

Also, I don't think it's appropriate to compare Ryze's ratios to LeBlanc. Her ratios aren't high initially but it's when she combos them, her ratios become really high. If her E stays on a target, it has a 1.0 AP ratio. Her Q marks a champion and if it is activated by another ability, it becomes a .8 ratio (with high base damage to boot). Her R gives even more damage. Giving even higher ratios than she had initially. (1.2 total on Q and on E and .90 on her W). Ryze's ratios are effectively ~half of Leblancs.

I wasnt talking aboiut her overall burst. just the math ratios. her mark has ratios too. but its unrelated to the subject :p
