What do you think about Riot's balancing and or balance team/philosophy?

Is their direction working? good? should continue?

What would you change?

On a scale of 1-10, how well is Riot doing in the balance department?

Here's my analysis/opinion:

i dont like their balance team/philosophy, i think Meddler needs to be fired and replaced, he's making League of legends bad for everyone and here's why:

[1. it's not healthy for a competitive game to go through continuous balance cycles with no ultimate balance solution.

Here's why: the people (us) are negatively affected when one of these changes occur, you nerf one champion and another will replace it, and so the nerfing will continue, it's a cycle that never ends.

Another reason is that the champs lose their value, if you nerf a champion it becomes worthless and only remembered that it was toxic once and now it's unplayable.

Continuous negative trends: after the old meta get's nerfed, a new cancerous meta comes to light.

Identity of champions are threatened: due to balance concerns, some champs cant live up to their identity: Poppy , Vladimir , etc.

Why cant WE the people decide trends? it's always Riot's decision to establish a meta, i hate this.

[2. Riot's balance direction is opening up a griveous wound to it's eSports and player scene because it keep's shelling out new content without fixing what's broken.

Our new champ Jhin opens up another can of worms and balance issues. Who knows when he's going to establish a trend, and then later be nerfed because of it, this is bad. Previous to Jhin we got kindred that needs balancing, etc.

I could go on and on about balance but the most important thing i want to discuss is that i think a bunch of teenagers are running the balance direction of League under an incompetent leader (meddler) and are slowly killing League because they cant establish the identity of champions and let us establish metas.

I hate the balance team right now and basically everything about this season. ADC's are everywhere, Zed and Xin are out of control, the new Duskblade item giving Zed and others even more ways to kill faster, AP itemization drastically nerfed and ignored....I could go on. I literally want to go back in time to season 5. I wouldn't mind Meddler being fired if CertainlyT went along with him too.

Riot's balance team is too busy jerking each other off to hear any feed back that anything they do isn't gold rainbows pony farts and better then sliced ham.

Frankly I think; they should either go back to the original crew and start over, or replace everyone. Granted I would still be against such extreme actions however, peoples' lives shouldn't be ruined over a game either.

I see where you were going with this, but you didn't really address the design issues correctly.

We should call a team of A student college mathematicians bad at balancing despite the majority of us having mediocre grades in math and the majority of the time simply post about things that we are salty about instead of putting clear reasoning behind our thoughts as we allow jaded views to even cloud our reasoning and logic.

We know near nothing of how they function yet we demand change.

Change of what? Change of something they may already be doing?

"Ultimate balance solution"? Riot doesn't want a perfectly balanced game m8. A perfectly balanced game is insanely boring and very quickly loses relevance as a spectator sport. You wanna know an example of a perfectly balanced game? Checkers. And who gives a fuck about checkers.

funny how season 1 through 3 was the players making the meta by playing things in unusual ways.

actually this use to be the case, it's the reason a lot of old champions have random scaling on some of their moves, tryn E, Malzahar's voidlings, sivir Q, exc. They use to just make interesting concepts and let players find the most effective ways to utilize the kits given. They'd nerf the numbers a little or something, to bring it into line, then see how the community reacted. (if they kept playing it or if they changed how they played the champion)

Now they want to establish this specific environment of gameplay each season. Which is almost always one which highlights these flashy champions constantly.

And much to my (and other's) dismay, they're philosophy seems to revolve around twitch reactions and mechanical skill. This is only made more evident by item 3147 basically extending the range of AD assassins to bruisers (as if they already couldn't half the time) and even some tanks. Though just by the design of this, it's clear that they believe an assassin should be able to kill a non-tank champion in under 2 seconds.

Idk about you, but 2 seconds to react and counter an enemy's combo isn't exactly engaging or fun gameplay imo. Hell even being in combat with an enemy for less than 2 seconds doesn't even sound fun. Even if i'm the one who would be using the damn thing.
