First of all, the Boards barely makes up the League of Legends playerbase. There's maybe 100 or so tops that actively actually even pay attention here. There's literally millions of League players.

Second of all, the majority of serious Boards posts (outside of Riot releasing something new/changing something) are basically:

"HURDUR WE WANT SOLOQ"
"WTF BALANCE TEMA SO BAD?111?111!!! HOW IS CHAMPION X LEGAL"
"RITO Y U BAN ME FOR TOXIC"

Third of all, whenever they do release something new or change something, the responses and threads that pop up are usually:

"WTF SO BAD Y U CHANGE DIS MAEKS NO SENSE"
"OMFG NEW SUPER BROKEN FR33LO CHAMP I HATE IM QUIT"
"WTF Y U DO DIS INSTED OF MAKEN SOLO QOO"

Gee, I wonder why they don't feel inclined to answer all the time.

So are we going with the scapegoat that Riot shouldn't listen to feedback because they are unable to reach out to the entirety of their fans without a pole system? Because if I am not mistaken, Riot purposefully worded the pole system so that it benefited what they were trying to prove, that people liked DQ. They purposefully worded it so that they made people confused about the champ select and DQ, so whenever I hear about SQ I hear people saying "Oh yeah, I love the new champ select."

So the community can't be trusted on their own forums . . . Reddit can't be trusted . . . 4chan can't be trusted . . . Riot can't be trusted . . . So does feedback just like, not matter then?

No, they should listen to feedback in general. I'm just saying this sort of typical behavior is sort of a turnoff to a "receptive" sort of behavior, if you get my point.

Yeah, I get it. But to be completely honest, Riot is at the point that they really don't care about community feedback. Even when we absolutely hate something, and the pros hate something. They still implement that something. If you know what I mean, steve. It is one of the reasons why I just stopped spending money on the game, I don't like supporting companies that feel as though they don't need to listen to their community. Hell, people are trying to avoid the new systems Riot is implementing by establishing their own servers. Sound familiar? The downfall of WoW.

a mass amount of players will always find and pick out what works the best and when it comes to light it gets abused by everyone simply because it functions well and becomes "meta"

there will always be a "meta" whether want it to exist or not. even if its just a 1% better chance at winning, people will do it.

yeah no they didn't. It was crystal clear to me. OP didn't say feedback wasn't to be trusted, he was saying that the majority of the feedback on the boards is bullshit and useless.

While most of this is true, people also seem to forget that Riot actually listens and actively communicates with the community, but not to every detail.

I mean, Dev Corner is completely useless right? The "Ask Riot" blogs means Riot "never listen to the community", right? ~~despite they are mostly overasked questions but that's still something~~

And you forgot about threads about supports where they "need more praise" and are "shit" despite most of such players don't even know the basic concept of how to actually support.

Nep2une my young padewan, you are not learned in the ways of the board. A thousand better board posters have said what you have said more eloquently, which can be essentially boiled down to "Riot doesn't care what the boards say because the boards are stupid/unreasonable/inexperienced."

The boards have made many good points which Riot has ignored. The boards have also been wrong. But the reason that Riot ignores the boards is because Riot has a Holier-than-Thou Attitude. As soon as you understand that you will understand why Riot makes the decisions that it does, because Riot employees think they can do no wrong, that their decisions are infallible. I have seen it time and again. Just look at Karma, Skarner, Mordekaiser, Trundle, etc...

Stop being so pretentious by talking down to the boards as if you know all. You don't. As soon as you admit that you know that you do not know, you will open yourself up to learning.

I've long since come to the conclusion that League players on average know fuck all about literally everything in this universe. Most will barely ever be capable of properly wiping themselves. Too many players claim that they play League all the time, and then fail to grasp even the most basic concepts of the game. I'm STILL encountering players who don't know what the support items do or that the sightstone now combines with them, or that the dragons have changed so they no longer give global gold. And the knowledge base of the community is starting to decay from THIS level.

I now encounter players regularly who think that Morgana getting a Chalice is going full AD, that the Last Whisper items are now SUPPORT items, that Thornmail blocks magic damage outright and attacking the turret at ANY TIME is split pushing. I wish I could say I was lying or exaggerating, but these unthoughts are spreading throughout the League like a virus. Even the most basic knowledge about this game is being lost. Soon enough the Rift will just look like ARAM minus any sense of self-preservation.

The ones who asked for the W change were the ones who almost never played her if at all. And Riot decided they should listen to those people instead of people with experience on her. Because. Um. Logic?
