I was against an Akali who would one shot me and all she had was Hextech gunblade, boots of swiftness, and 2 health pots, when she ulted, I was instantly dead, just what the hell?

Welcome to League of Legends. And bronze.

If you didn't punish Akali early, that's what you get m8. Understanding champions power spikes is just one of many things you will need to learn to succeed here. Akali sucks pre 6. Gotta abuse it. Post 6, you're her bitch. Other champions have strong laning phases and weak late games. She has a weak laning phase and strong mid game. Pick any lane bully against her and she'll feed.

Kinda hard to when they're the last one to pick a champ. :/

Average QWER combo for most champions is ~1000 at level 18, where average HP at level 18 is ~2000. (Akali's combo is 1140 base). Average level 18 AP needed to deal double damage is also ~450 with a QWER ratio of 220% (Akali has a 280% ratio).

Akali isn't that much beyond average.

Also, she went glass-cannon pure-damage with the listed build, why wouldn't she do damage with that?
