2 year Aatrox main...I'm done with him and you should be too. Vote that you will
I won't play him as he is. If you are a main, neither should you. Don't waste your time trying to squeeze the most out of this nerf with weird builds of Trinity Force and Steraks Gauge.
Just forget about him until he gets changed.
Major problems
1)Blood Well takes too long to stack because Aatrox has long Cool Downs
2)Using Blood Price to help stack means that you are not healing up in combat
3)Getting Blood Rush gives less attack speed and a little bit of AD. This AD does NOT compensate for his old 60-200 plus 100 bonus AD damage
4)Blood Well drains so fast that if you miss a second of combat, an enemy flashes away, or you get hit by hard CC or a blind, you will lose Blood Rush. It is now even easier to shut Aatrox down. Now you can just stun him and kill him...he won't have his revive if his Blood Rush is gone.
5)From point 4, he is easier to shut down now. He has less attack speed. Randuins and Frozen heart will end him. Who cares if he builds tanky. He still going to die because his heals will be too slow and not enough. Especially when he comes out of a stun or snare with no bonus attack speed and no revive.
5)There is no real incentive to build HP. First of all so many champions do % of max health damage. Secondly, Aatrox doesn't scale of of HP the way other champions do in any meaningful way. Thirdly, he doesn't have any built in shields, resistances, blocks or parries the way nearly every other top laner has. What I mean by this is abilities that keep him alive WHILE HE IS STILL DOING DAMAGE. Meaning his revive does NOT count, and his healing is so weak now (this USED to be his defensive ability) that it does not do much to keep him from being killed. Nasus, Voli, Olaf, Fiora, Renekton, Pantheon, etc have a burst of HP or bonus health, or block or parry or built in bonus resistances that mitigate damage while they are still alive an in combat. So to say Aatrox can build health means nothing. He is still behind against champions that can build quite tanky such as Nasus or Olaf because they can build the same items PLUS they have built in resistances.
5)Tower diving is ruined. There are many situations with old Aatrox where you might not have a full blood well, but you can still dive and revive. It is much harder to fill up a blood well now with an enemy champion hugging their turret. And that means that you will have less opportunities to tower dive and revive.
6)His poke is ruined. The slow is lasts less and doens't do magic damage. I don't care that it scales off of 70% AD vs 60% (I though were building tanky now, so what does that matter?) Overall his E was nerfed.
I liked his old W. It was about judgement calls. Meaning, sometimes you might have a sliver of health in a dicy situation, but instead of healing on your next attack you judge that you can kill the opponent with a Blood Price hit instead. OR you could play it safe and heal for 200-300 HP, and NOT kill them and run the risk of them flashing away or their teammates coming to help before you finish them. Whats wrong with a champion that was heavily dependent on judgement calls?
Anyways, I won't be touching Aatrox in ranked at all. Totally not worth it. I mean, you can argue that Nasus was in a better state than Aatrox these last 2 years...and they gave Nasus bonus resistances with his ult! Why would I play weak Aatrox now? We are better off with Olaf, Maokai, Nasus, Pantheon and others at top now.
