Anyone Else Feel like There Are Less Close Games?

This may be anecdotal, but I feel like there are less close games in League nowadays. About 95% of the time my team blows out the other team, or the opposite happens. And it's not just in my ELO. I watch plenty of high-level streamers who are Diamond 1/Masters/Challenger and I notice many of their games go the same way. Either they roflstomp their opponents or they get roflstomped themselves.

Does anyone else notice this, or is it just me? I honestly think it's because of power creep. Champions are so damn powerful nowadays that if you give them any sort of edge they just run away with it.

its because the jungle xp changes. I don't think riot really understood what they did when they did that. one team is winning, they ward enemy jungle and take jungle creeps while denying the enemy xp, and slowly getting up to 5 dragons causes a snowball that pushes one lane usually top or mid to be ahead by 3 or 4 levels. its something I have never seen in league before. its horrible because its in the tank meta so tanks are going to be doing more damage faster because of the level advantage.

hmmm, yes I have noticed this. I think it's pretty dumb that it's possible for one champion to be 4-5 levels higher than the rest of the game...I wish they would fix that somehow. It would be okay if it happened once in a blue moon, but it happens way too often in my experience.

yeah dragon buffs too op

I haven't noticed this at all actually.

Yea, it's really ticking me off. I seem to come across teams that suck, feed, and at the same time I get more kills than deaths (sometimes not, but not as bad as others). Every time I go into queue. Every. Time. I'm starting to lose heart to play League anymore.

ive lost the heart a season ago when they let zed go up and nerfed all his competition... now the league matches are so random... everybody sucks now.

Another trend: Long ass games I have had 3 60 minute games in a row, and most of my games now average 40 minutes.

Tank meta is responsible for both of these. CANCER.

Well, longer games mean more IP, so I'm game :)

Games definitely snowball faster these days, thats for sure. Dragon changes don't help that, as well as other factors.

Yup... stomp or get stomped. 99% of the time.

there are the same number of close games. They just end before the nexus blows up now, and drag for 5-15 minutes while your team can move and play but has no actual chance to turn it around. The close part is the teamfight 15 minutes prior, you jsut didn't realize it at the time.

Reasons Why :

1: Baron makes it impossible to defend against the enemy team if they have the buff 2: If the enemy is ahead and gets all the dragons, they just snowball even more making it hard to comeback 3: Nexus and Inhib turrets don't do jack sh*t may as well just be decoration's

Yeah. About 80% of the time, either my team or the other team completely stomps and players end up going 0/7 somehow.

I had kind of assumed it was just because as I got better (and subsequently played with/against better players) I just learned how to close games better. However looking closely it does seem that it's easier to get games moving than it used to be. I'd imagine the new dragon and baron actually having effects to speed up the game is a large part of that.

Dragons snowball so hard now its kind of dumb. I guess riot wanted more team fights around objectives like dragon and baron, but it seems like dragon stacks are just too strong.

ZenBudS1 votes

the dragon buffs make no sense. they really should just go back to global gold.

GloriousKaiser1 votes

That's always been the case, but with the tank resurgence, shouldn't games be more difficult to close out?

shadecrapper1 votes

After a certain amount of time I think yes. Unless your adc is randomly caught out lol

I think players are all around getting better, also it seems a lot harder to try and claw your way back into a game.

Even if I lose or win a long, 70 - 80 minute game I really don't care, because THOSE are the games that League should be having commonly. Both teams have all great players, get strategies, and it's pretty intense but also fun and challenging.

But yeah, most games I play probably end in the enemy team surrendering. Last game they surrendered all 5/5 at the 20 minute mark due to how the game was like 25-3, or I think that was the game I played before.

it honestly makes me really reluctant to say "gg" often times. don't get me wrong, I don't just say "bg" when I'm butthurt that I lost. but there are always those matches that are really little more entertaining than wrecking some bots, or vice versa. imo, a good game is one where both teams did at least reasonably well and tried their best, not when the score is 3 to 30 at 20 minutes and the losing team is just sitting in base waiting for the 20 minute mark.

I like seeing all the people attempt to pinpoint a specific reason behind this when none exists, it takes a lot more then 1 variable to swing the win in any ones favor.

Vayne.

Fuck that shit, I'm quitting League if I don't fight and support an ADC that isn't Vayne within the next 10 games. Seriously, get her strength and/or my ADC's stupidity out of here...

I hate this. Either

A: You exit laning phase realizing someone is fed or the other lanes didn't do so well.

B: You realize your team cannot team fight at all, keeps on getting picked off, or can't stay together.

Or C: The other team is getting whooped so they surrender and make things feel anticlimactic.

I wish more games at least made it to team fighting so I can laser them. Velkoz

Yeah matchmaking is bad atm..

The game is tank meta. Tank items are about 5 trillion% cheaper than damage items. So they get their items earlier and rofl stomp everything.

Trídent1 votes

Yeah, there's been a lot less close games. Close games are fun and exciting, there should be more of them and less of roflstomp games :C

JChaosMaster1 votes

why I keep reading they keep nerfing turrets to. If turrets are the best line of defense they make it way harder to defend against a snowball team.

Troy2426211 votes

Was a lot worse. Least now tanks combined with wave clearers can stall a game out to try and outscale an early game lead, provided it isn't too monsterously huge.
