Doran's Shield still sucks.

Can you think of a single champion you play that starts with Doran's Shield? I've taken it a few times since the "buff" (really a bug fix) just to try it out and it still feels super weak. You get the shield and one lonely pot, and that's it. Compare that to like...cloth 5 or long sword or flask and there's just no contest. The starts with more potions are just way better.

I know they don't want to buff it too hard because when it was good everyone was taking it...top laners, mid laners, and even supports, but I think it should be better than it is. I don't even think it needs a buff to its stats, just reducing the cost so we could get 2-3 pots with it would go a long way. I just think it's a shame that it's not even situationally useful anymore. It's just bad, and no starting item like that should even exist.

All the Doran's items are horrendously underwhelming in my opinion.

The money could go toward items with a future in the game.

I like Ring and Blade; Ring provides some much needed mana sustain, and still gives some pots for healthiness. Blade gives some lifesteal and health, so it's good if you can safely autoattack for health or want to try and duel early.

Shield is just kinda eh. It doesn't provide as much effective health as the others (Ring gets +1 pot, Blade gives 3% lifesteal), and it also doesn't give you enough stats to take it over any other defensive start.

Except blade and ring are bought all the time...I can't remember the last time someone in one of my games bought a shield.

And for the life of me I cannot see why. Pretty much anyone I would buy a Doran's Blade for I would buy a Long Sword instead, more money for pots, and much easier to get a Vamp Scepter asap.

Anyone I'd buy Doran's Shield for I'd buy Cloth Armor or Ruby Crystal instead. They can actually build into big time items unlike the Doran's items.

And Ring? I'd rather buy an Amplifying Tome, I get more AP and it builds into things.

I agree with all, but not Amplifying Tome. It sucks, please don't build it first item. It is SOOOO bad compared to Ring.

it's more dependant who you vs. Rather then who it's good with. I just played a Ranked where I was mid lane Shen vs. Yasuo and stomped him in lane, His AA damage was reduced and he couldn't kill me fast enough alongside the health regen + My Q regen. Just, look more in depth. I also use Dorans shield on Renekton when I counter pick vs. Pantheon
