FILL should lower your MMR for that match

As someone who is flexible and plays every role, I feel like I lost a major advantage when the new dynamic queue arrived. I used to fill so that my teammates had a higher chance of getting their main roles so they could carry more often. With the new system, everyone gets teammates that get to pick their main roles. Unless they picked fill. A player who picks fill shouldn't be considered as familiar with his role than players who choose only 2 roles. Therefore, I think they should be matched in a low MMR game to compensate for this. This also gives a similiar reward to filling players as they used to get in the old system where flexibility means that they need slightly less personal skill in each individual role to climb.

However, the MMR difference shouldn't be too big because otherwise people might abuse the system and pick fill continued by asking for their main role. I don't really think this is a bad thing per se as long as they're willing to play the role that is given whenever they can't trade roles. A side effect of this would also be that people who fill nolong get to play support 95% of the time (as there would be a higher % of players picking fill rather than top/mid/jg/adc.)

Currently, I'm not even picking fill myself. I pick top and jungle because I think I have a slightly better chance at winning with them. I'd like to go fill again, but not when there's absolutely no advantage in doing so other than a shorter queue time. I don't care about queuing 5 minutes if it gives me an advantage. I'm sure many people think the same way which aids the lack of support issue. More people fill means quicker queues for everyone. Not everyone should be forced to fill (if the advantage a filler gets is too great, this would be the case), but there should be SOME incentive!

That would result in losing more points for a loss and gaining fewer points for a win. I guarantee fewer people would play support as a result.

Now when playing as a support you are more likely to have worse players on your team! Fun!

its almost like they should remove the 5th player so no one has to play support....what a novel idea...

Hate people who suggest this. 5 seasons it's been 5 v 5. Your complaining won't make it 4 v 4

You seem to think being matched at a mmr is a 'reward'. Theres plenty of people who would much rather be matched in higher mmr games as a reward.

Higher mmr games mean bigger LP rewards, lower LP losses, and generally more competent teammates (and opponents). One could make the argument that if you're a fill main, then you understand all 5 roles at least moderately, even if you're not amazing at any specific one, and so you'd be able to better avoid ganks and understand teamfight dynamics (as you're familiar with what everyone is capable of, not just your own role), and thus being in a higher mmr game would be more appropriate.

That arguments can be made both for lower mmr games and higher mmr games seems to indicate that just using your actual mmr is the correct choice.

(If they want to incentivize sup/fill there are options, like extra ip or maybe essence or something hextech related, although even those have flaws due to pushing people to the role(s) for the wrong reasons which is probably why it hasn't been done yet.)

You are misunderstanding. I mean that you would be counted as a lower MMR but that your reward would also be based on that MMR. For example, you are 1950 MMR, you get instead placed as a 1900 MMR. When you win the match, you'd win as much as a 1900 MMR player would get, also in calculating average team MMR it would use 1900 instead of 1950.

People who say "I wish I was at diamond, atleast you have better team there" forget that they also have better enemies there and it's much harder to win.

Yes, but your reward is based on your mmr relative to the division you're in.

So if I'm plat 3 with 1950 mmr, and I'm being treated as a 1900 mmr player for matchmaking and reward getting, then I'm still going to get less rewards than if I was properly being matchmade with/against 1950 mmr people.

Honestly, when I want to Fill, I'm going Blind Pick.

I wish there was a blind pick ranked mode, buddy.
