Forward momentum should still be a thing

So I just got out of a game where I was Caitlyn and the enemy team had a Veigar .

One thing that bothers me about Veigar is that if he drops his wall around me, I have no escape except for my flash.

Thing is, I was still able to move, so I tried netting (E) passed the walls, knowing I would be stunned, I assumed the net would send me far enough to avoid his Dark Matter (W) but be stunned. Alive, but stunned. At least that was the plan.

The moment I shot off my E, I immediately stopped dead in my tracks. This is ridiculous. I should still be pelted backwards because of my ability. That's like, my only option against getting walled in by Veigar, I have no real alternative (With burned flash). The moment I'm stunned, I'm basically dead. His Wall is on a 14 second cooldown. My flash is on a 300 second cooldown.

Thoughts?

Veigar Event Horizon:

RANGE: 700 / 375 COST: 70 / 75 / 80 / 85 / 90 mana COOLDOWN: 18 / 17 / 16 / 15 / 14

Veigar forms a cage around the target area which materializes after a 0.5 second delay and lasts for 3 seconds, knocking down and stunning all enemies who pass through its edges for the first time.

Stun Duration: 1.5 / 1.75 / 2 / 2.25 / 2.5

Event Horizon is a ground targeted area of effect ability.

  • Does not apply spell effects.
  • Spell shields will block the stun and provide immunity to stuns from the same instance of Event Horizon.

Additional information:

  • Event Horizon deals 1 point of true damage to all units inside the cage and will grant 1 stack of Phenomenal Evil Power and an assist if a target champion is killed. In very rare occasions it can even kill a unit when it is at 1 health.
  • Event Horizon can only stun a unit once per cast. A unit will not be stunned twice if they walk through the perimeter again after recovering from an initial stun.
  • Blink abilities such as Riftwalk and Flash are not inhibited by Event Horizon.
  • Forced movement of a unit by knockbacks or pulls such as Rocket Grab through Event Horizon's perimeter will also be stopped.

You should really read up on abilities to see how they work. The bold part is what caused your death.

Thanks Didn't know it stopped all movement.

Still jarring to see me just... not move immediately as I shoot my net. :/ Forward momentum be like shrug

Event Horizon stopping dashes (90 Caliber Net included) was added in patch 5.6.

All blinking abilities DO get past it. Those abilities are:

  • summoner 4 (should be most obvious right?)
  • Elise Rappel (spider E)
  • Shaco Deceive
  • Fiddlesticks Crowstorm
  • Katarina Shunpo
  • Kassadin Riftwalk
  • MasterYi Alpha Strike (he blinks AND becomes untargetable)
  • Talon Cutthroat
  • Zed Living Shadow (the swap portion)

If its not listed here it WILL more then likely get stopped. If I missed an ability that makes them blink... OH wait! Almost forgot ONE blink ability that I do know! Yasuo Last Breath (Yep he BLINKS to the knocked up target champion)

There may be some I missed though. Original credit goes to this players thread for helping me get this list of blinks: Here's a list of all the dashes Veigar's E now stops (3/3 PBE Update)

Very informative list.

Here are others off the top of my head that might work.

Ekko Chronobreak Ezreal Arcane Shift Fizz Playful Trickster Kalista Fate's Call Lissandra Glacial Path Malphite Unstoppable Force Maokai Twisted Advance (?) Pantheon Grand Skyfall (If you REALLY want to use your ult to get out.) :/ RekSai Void Rush TahmKench Abyssal Voyage (Again, kind of a wasted ult) TwistedFate Destiny Urgot Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverser Vi Assault and Battery Warwick Infinite Duress

Some of them I am unsure of. Like Fizz Troll Pole for example sounds iffy to me along with Maokai Twisted Advance. But that is me, it could be tested though.

Let me get this straight...you pushed yourself into a wall and are now complaining that you didn't go through the said wall?

facepalm

Granted, I did not know Veigar's wall stops all movement, but if you read properly, the plan was to shove myself out of the way of his W. I just didn;t know I would stop moving.

Slythion1 votes

my assumption was that you would stop moving when you hit the wall...still not sure what you meant if not that

I was in the circle, trapped. I saw his w coming in so I thought I would try to net through the wall, take the stun but avoid instant-death. I net, hit the wall, stop in my tracks, die of W.

Well, then my point still stands. You launched yourself at a wall, of course you're going to stop :3

The added in that Veigar's cage interrupts dashes when they added in the delay to it

Veigar's E is massive, telegraphed, and only stuns you if you touch the edge.

If he casts it around you and you don't have Flash, dodge his Q and W from the inside. It's not difficult.

It's funny that you mention that, because you are right. You're completely right. It is fair counterplay to dash out of his ring after he calls the comet. But they made it so his ring interrupts dashes. They took counterplay away from Veigar.

You're completely correct, but Riot felt that Veigar deserved to be a little more of a bitch.
