That 36% win rate is ugly, you don't want that on your team. This is why you auto ban champs for the first 2 weeks to a month after they come out. If the champ isn't one you can pick up in 5 minutes or it's really bad, just ban it until people have had a good chance to play with their shiny new champ in normals for a bit.
Frankly I kind of wish riot required a champ to be out for a few weeks before he is allowed into ranked.

Honestly the only way to really build him is tanky + utility, IMO. You want CDR, some movement speed, some beefyness and a good amount of actives. I actually think Ohmwrecker is a solid choice on Bard, he can shut down towers for five and a half seconds with his ult + Ohmwrecker, it gives him good mobility around objectives in addition to some decent defense and CDR. I don't recommend it for every game though.
are all decent items on him, IMO. Some people would probably argue that Ohmwrecker and Banner of Command are bad items, but I think they can work on Bard.

He's got some AP scalings, but some of them are locked away in his passive and the other is the shrines that need time to power up and would only really work in a siege comp come late game. Even then, the enemies can stop his healing before his allies get it. If the enemies don't use the shrines there's still the part about allies having to remember to use them (click the lantern) after waiting for them to power up. Also his Q is mostly for that tricky to use stun of his and not so much for the damage.
I could see either a Rylai's or ROA as a sole AP item but only for the tank they give. Maybe he could get a voidstaff if you've got an AP top and an ADC/jungler who has base magic damage in their kits.
I think that bard would probably be a great ranked 5s champ, but I just don't see him working in solo at all, at least until people figure out how he works and how to make the most of him. It's going to take time though. Two of his skills depend on his allies and his Q needs good positioning by the bard player.

But if I don't build full AP, how am I suppose to Penta kill the enemy team? How does being tanky help me Penta kill? It just sounds like I'll be standing around while other people get Penta kills. Not getting Penta kills is bronzelord, only I'm suppose to get Penta kills cause I'm LCS pro.

SpecterVonBaren1 votesNo need bro. I've been playing this game for about a year (Roughly a month before Vel'Koz was released) and never have I seen a champ fall off so hard in terms of people picking him. He's gone from FoTM to "Only dedicated Bard mains play Bard" within two days of being released.
