Should I save my IP?

I came back to league after a long hiatus and I have been hearing that blue essence will be replacing IP. So I wanted to know, should I spend my IP? I wanted to change my name and buy a few champs. I would really like if we could have a run down of the changes coming out

Well, there's a rare Blue Essence shop coming out where you can buy exclusive stuff. The shop will be out during preseason in a few days. I recommend saving your IP for now.

IP will be converted into Blue Essence. Any current BE you have will be multiplied by 6.x (can't remember the decimal) and added into the IP that was converted. I would guess that champ and other costs will stay relatively the same, just in BE.

It is recommended that you buy 1700 ip champ chests and disenchant them (unless you want the champ, ofc). The net result (on average) is an 8% increase in BE than if you don't use your ip for the 1700 champs.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe that there's approximately an 8% increase in the Blue essence you get, by investing you IP in champion shard tokens, and then disenchanting those shards into blue essence. (Once the 6.5x conversion kicks in of coarse, but you would want to buy and disenchant those shards before preseason hits. )

Personally, I've been getting the champion shards anyways because I have a few champions that I still need to unlock. (Based on PBE values, I'm guessing enchant cost is about 60% of what the permanent would normally cost.) So for the most part, I've been buying champ shards trying to get new champions, and disenchanting the shards for the ones I already own.
