Blanket Mute Chat After An Ally Dies? -> Thought Experiment -> Remove chat?

I sat here and thought about when would be the best time to mute chat, looking for key moments when people start trash talking on impulse. I thought maybe when an ally dies would be a great time to blanket mute since people are more hands free to bitch at this point, but the more I thought about it the more I realized there should be no chat at all because people bitch about everything and if you're ready for teamwork why aren't you using a mic :T

Is it plausible to remove the chat? Why can't I just mute my own chat? Well I'm not the one destabilizing the team, I soak in that verbal abuse like a sponge and drop a report bomb. Clicking that report button at the end of the game is like instant heroin, I too will miss the chat and its endless verbal abuse.

There never really is a time to mute chat. Whatever "toxicity" people bring to the chat is unilaterally outweighed by the information that you can gain from the chat. Let's be honest for a second, words are just words and no amount of "toxicity" actually negatively impacts people (except a few overly sensitive people who have no business playing a moba to begin with). That means that over the course of 1000 games, if you get one single piece of useful information, it was worth it to keep chat up. Again, one little piece of positive information, no matter how small, completely outweighs any toxicity you need to sift through.

The overly sensitive people seem to be everywhere :/ I reckon it goes like this, 1 player is more experienced than the other, the inexperienced player does something out of ignorance, experienced player mocks their ignorance as stupidity out of hindsight, they get angry; it snowballs. There are at least 2 people who aren't completely in the game on your team and now start making irrational decisions. So they start to feed, feed, feed. Another challenger joins the argument, it snowballs further.

Do you really depend on chat to learn LoL or any other form of PvP? I have met decent people in PvP before but I've never met mentors and have never seen someone receive criticism well in a match of any kind. The only time I've ever found chat useful is at the beginning understanding who is laning where because they couldn't figure it out while picking or were already arguing about it.

That small sliver of info doesn't seem worth a 1000 games of 2+ players going afk to be internet tough guys, it just brings the experience down as a whole; imo.

I wish they would just remove the chat in-game already, its nothing but a distraction and hindrance. It's only real use is showing what items are bought and such.

Any advice/mentoring can be given both before and after the match.

Mentoring should probably be done in custom games anyway, much better atmosphere, you're not interfering with other peoples games, having a chat enable option there would be fine.
