So i just got crushed in lane by a Nautilus i initially went 2/0 against

Frontline Fury··1 votes·1,569 views

He bought a cloth armor, returned to lane 1 level down and just straight up 1v1'd me on my side of the lane. He went all-in and i was dead, immobilized so hard i couldn't return to my tower.

What the fuck just happened? How the fuck am i even supposed to play against that? He bought a cloth armor - +15 armor - and that made up for level 4 vs level 3 and a 2 kill lead? That one item allowed him to both outdamage me and soak up all my damage from doran's blade, cull and long sword? (i'd also bought a ruby crystal.)

How? I seriously don't understand. How the fuck did Nautilus, one level down and 2 kills behind outdamage and outtank a conqueror Urgot after buying 15 armor? Why? How? How am i supposed to play against that when he just right clicks me to death outside my turret?

I've been playing this game for just over 8 years, i'm in Diamond rank. This is giving me Tahm kench vibes - he outdamages you with a full tank build, if you don't have a dash you can't get away from him no matter what.

How am i supposed to play against it? I ended up 20 cs behind after one death, and from there he could instantly one-shot me whenever i returned to my lane. Iceborn gauntlet around 8 minutes, and i wasn't even halfway to black cleaver. Where's the counterplay? What can i build against this?

Sounds like he let go of that anchor, it was weighing him down.

If you're Diamond I assume you landed your shit and used your explodey legs.

W couple of things that are worth noting about Nautilus:

  1. He's melee with, pre six, one way of getting on you on a fairly long CD. It's fair that it's incumbent on you to dodge his Q 'cause if you do dodge it he doesn't get to fight you, just sit there and take poke.

  2. His E does pretty solid dps, with the limitations of a high Mana cost, and that he had to be pretty close range - if you're next to him you get hit by multiple e waves, which hits like a truck. If he gets on you with Q and spams e without you backing up, you're gonna have a bad time.

  3. Lastly, not about Nautilus, and not necessarily a criticism, but Cull isn't a very gold-efficient item in terms of stats. It's going to do very little to help you all-in.

Urgot relies on rapid small hits, the occasional burst from the shotgun and of course, THE MEATGRINDER. If i'm not wrong, Nautilus' attacks are not only slower and bigger, but i think they reduce defense as well. That 15 armor simply made the difference for him when you used Q and went gatling gun on him.

But how does that make sense? I have 20 AD more than when i initially killed him, not once but twice. Though admittedly i was always bad with math, so maybe this is actually extremely logical and i'm just too dumb to comprehend it. Either way it doesn't seem sensible to me that ONE component item can outstat three - i bought health, he did not. I should've had a lot higher defence than he did.

I would imagine his armor per level is way more than urgot's, but that's just a guess. I'm getting board... heh. so imma go play now. gl bud.

I think you are right. Supports tend to have extremely high base armor.

Naut does not have any ability that reduces defenses.

I'm not complaining about Nautilus. I'm trying to understand how he abruptly went from being steamrolled to steamrolling in a single item purchase of a 300 gold component item.

Sounds like you got cocky and underestimated his actual output and allowed him to combo you.

I think you’re complaining tbh.

Also, never had issues with naut top.

This is the first time i've had an issue with him since he was absolutely oppressive during the sunfire cape meta in season 6.

Nautilus smacking Urgot....

No...that's not right...not even in laws of nature...hell even with superior skill it's impossible...

I main Urgot as my secondary role, Nautilus is supposed to be a damn snack for Urgot even with armor.

Thats the thing. he didnt even combo me properly - his E + W just straight up bursted me down. There was no way for me to match his damage output.

I haven't played Urgot for 2 months now.

Is it safe to say with what Riot did to his E and W is what to blame?!?

Chances are the OP was half health and didnt realize that nautilus could do anything once he hit level 3. Because nautilus is really only strong in a team setting, hes not... overly sticky early on with his 325 base MS and ultra low attacks.

I'm suspicious on that one too honestly, because even with whatever riot did to Urgot, Nautilus is practically a prey to Urgot.

The OP did say it was super early on... Say they got cocky against a level 1 or 2 and just had their W on? Naut gets 3-5 enhanced autos off, his E twice, his Q at least once...

Probably. It's actually a buff against squishies, but a massive nerf against tanks and bruisers.

Massive nerf against tanks and bruisers?

What did they remove the max hp damage from his shotgun knees?

What I saw so far is his shield is on his E and his W becomes infinite at max rank which I don't even know if it's good or bad but I find it ridiculous beyond belief.

His shield lost a lot of base value and HP scaling. AD Urgot is stronger, tank Urgot is weaker - which means in any situation AD Urgot was already bad, he is now much worse. He has a lot more counterplay.

Eh...that means I can now buy lifesteal items along more often with maybe just 1 hp item at this point.

I have to play and see for myself for this one.

So since NA can no longer view EU websites can you please give us a link to your match?
