Taric Rework/buff Proposals.

Hello. I used to main Taric back in Season 3 slightly after his "buff" (which they "overshot" and nerfed him again). And I have come to the conclusion that it's the fact that he's so simply that he's very ineffective. Just take a look at Braum, he too is a tanky defensive support, but he does Taric's job much better. So even though this thread will probably not get much attention, I am still hoping to reach out to anyone.

(NEW)(Passive) Fabulous Armor - Aura effect: Nearby allied champions gain 15% of Taric's maximum Armor and Magic Resist. He also reduces the damage that nearby allied champions would recieve by 20% (reduced after Armor/MR calculation.) but he takes the entire amount of damage removed as true damage over 5 seconds. Range: 1100.

(Q) Imbue: Taric heals an allied champion for 85/140/195/250/305 (+ 5% of maximum health). Taric is healed for 50% of the amount. If the allied champion would be healed to 100% of its maximum health, 50% of the remaining heal points are converted into a shield for the target which lasts 5 seconds. If Taric heals himself, he is instead healed for 100% of the amount instead of 50%. Mana: 60/70/80/90/100 - Cooldown: 20/18/16/14/12 - Range: 800.

(W) Shatter: Passive: Taric reinforces his armor with gemstones, increasing his armor while Shatter is off cooldown. 10/20/30/40/50 Armor increased.

Active: Taric shatters his gemstones, dealing 50/80/110/140/170 (+25% of Taric's bonus armor) magic damage and lowers their armor by 5/10/15/20/25 (+7.5% of Taric's Maximum Armor). Enemy champions affected are forced to attack Taric for 1.25/1.5/1.75/2.0/2.25 seconds. Mana: 50/50/50/50/50. Cooldown: 13/12/11/10/9 seconds.

(E) Dazzle: Taric Dazzle's a target enemy champion, dealing 50/95/140/185/230 (+10% of bonus MR) magic damage and stunning it for 1.5-2.0 seconds depending on how far away the target is away from Taric (increasing the further away the target is from Taric). It can be blocked by other enemy champions, but then the intercepting champion takes 50% extra damage and is charmed and forced to walk harmlessly towards Taric instead of being stunned for the duration). Mana: 65/70/75/80/85. Cooldown: 17/16/15/14/13. Range: 650.

(NEW)(R) Outrageous Outbreak: Passive: Depending on the amount of nearby enemy champions, Taric's abilities' mana costs' are reduced by 10/20/30/40/50% (increasing with every champion).

Active: Taric slams his crystal-hammer into the ground which causes all nearby allied champions to be knocked away from Taric and the nearby enemy champions to be drawn close to Taric (so everyone are next to eachother). The champions drawn in deal 30% reduced damage for 2.5 seconds and are silenced for 1.5 seconds. Mana: 100/100/100. Cooldown: 120/110/100. Passive range: 800. Active range: 600 (knocks away to 800 range).

Afterwords:

I like Taric and I hope that this thread might get a tiny bit attention or have sparked a debate. Personally I think that this kit would be strong, but also change how he is played currently. As for animations and VFX, I wouldn't change anything except for the visuals for Dazzle (also some indicators and small effects for (R).) I would speed it up a bit for a more "direct" projectile. But I'd like it to look smooth aswell. (saving most work for the VU would be the smartest).

Anyways, thank you all for taking your time out of your day to read this. Remember that this is 100% fan-thought up (by myself) and I would love to see this ingame, but it might be toxic to the game and go against the philosofi of kits. Good night and I shall check upon this thread tomorrow to see if at anyone found this thread useful :3

Bye bye

Looking at your numbers, he would be insanely overpowered. You gave him a Rammus Taunt, a group AoE Silence and kept his stun. It's uh... just way to over-the-top balance wise.

I get that he's a bit binary right now and underplayed and I'll even say a bit weak, but your changes would completely shatter (HA!) the support meta and Taric would be first ban every single game.

I'd suggest working with simpler changes - A single change can have a huge impact. Pick one ability and change it and we can go from there :)

True. Of course I could just take his current issues and just work with them. But I sorta felt that his entire kit could use some work. (might have overloaded his kit, and creating a possible champion like Azir (maybe).

But the thing is, his taunt is still the same AoE as the current shatter. Which is like 200units. Making it extremly difficult to land unless you're very close. And he has no gap-closers except for flash. And as I can't see it right now, the numbers may be too high. I would look to see that it's not 100% buffs. Concidering the cooldowns on his spells are still very high. And now he has no passive which decreases it. Making his abilities crucial to get the most out of.

Then it's just to look at his general damage output. By a quick look: he has two damaging abilities (in my kit) and they both scale with ARMOR and MR respectivly. So he won't deal much damage at all, which would be compensated by his good amount of cc.

And to look at his Passive in my kit. Let's say that a Lux ultimate would deal 1k damage on your adc (PRETTY unlikely) after the MR calculation. Then your passive would reduce the damage your ADC recieves by 200 which causes the spell only to deal 800 damage instead of 1000. Of course the backside of the passive would kick in (otherwise it would be 100% broken), causing Taric to recieve the damage reduced as true damage. This would result in his team taking less damage and Taric soaking up more damage (which a support/tank) is suppose to do.

And by looking at his kit. His Passive causes him to build Health to absorb more True Damage. His Q scales with Health, gives even more reason. His W scale the damage and armor shread with building Armor (just like live). And his E scales with Magic Resist (don't question my logic). Hence overall he'd have to build all these different stats to get the most out of his kit. He will also deal pretty low damage.

I fundamentally feel he needs a core rework. He needs to compete with Braum or Nami and he just doesn't right now.

I'd like to see him be reworked to be centered around his auto attack. Make it so his passive procs whenever he lands an auto attack. It increases his Mana Regenration, Cooldown Reduction and AP temporarily. so he gains huge benefits while meleeing. Keep his Heal and Stun, and even his Ult could pretty much stay the same. I'd suggest Removing Shatter entirely and making a new ability that grants a sizable shield to Taric and his Closest Ally when he lands his next auto attack. Would be sweeeet at trading.

Something I've always thought would be awesome for Taric would be for his E to become a cone AOE that is easy to hit as a slow, blinds in a narrower area, the duration/intensity of both increasing closer to taric where the cone is narrow.

The stun is useful but not particularly flavorful, there are few blind effects, and the theme is nice along with adding to his peel. Apart from that I'd like to see his ult, W, or Q gain a little more utility just to keep him up to speed with newer supports. Maybe give a speed boost to the champ he heals with Q, or make his ult do a small heal in a small aoe around him.

I like your thoughts on his E (Dazzle), but if you don't use it as a stun (it could stun the first enemy hit before the cone explodes), then he would be so resourseless. Currently on live he has one stun. Remove it and he can't for an example interrupt a Katarina ultimate. But as I said, I like to idea that a spell that's named "Dazzle" creates a cone of light that slows ppl and blinds those who are looking at him. But it would become a lot like Cassio's ultimate.

Honestly if he gets a rework, he is probably going to lose his constant armor aura (big case of hidden power there, especially for early game)

Honestly...I want them to take Taric in an offensive direction. Just because he has a shield shouldn't mean he's support or tank. Make him the AP counterpart to Panths AD shield based offensive design.
