Why is it such a struggle to buy sightstone?

If your mentality when playing the game is to use a mage and deal the damages, go mid or top please. When you queue up as support please build a sightstone. They even made sightstone build into a mage item. Sure it does have less AP, but it still gives the 15 bonus damage on spells/autos and gives 10% CD. It's honestly a loaded item for the gold price in my mind. Vision wins games my friends at the end of the day. No amount of damage built can keep you from dying when you facecheck an unwarded bush that has the enemy team in it. As a jungle main I always buy the green jungle item to help provide vision for the team because I know how helpful it is. Keeping my midlaners safe by warding both sides of their lane, deepwarding the enemy jungle, or warding my jungle. I don't know when this whole battle of trying to get supports to build sightstone started but it's quite honestly ridiculous. I can accept sightstone being delayed under certain circumstances, but not buying it at all is unacceptable. Especially in ranked games.

Well sightstone is the most gold efficient investment in the game in terms utility and overall effectiveness when applied.

I don't think this would even be so much of an issue if Riot didn't take a personal vendetta on Wards, nerf them to heck, remove them from shop, etc.

Hell, with the old Upgraded Trinket, I would ward almost as much as a support. I miss that.

You don't need sighstone!!! In early game two yellow trinkets and 2 pinks should be enough to cover your entire lane!!

Lategame 10 yellow trinket wards and 5 pinks should be really good vision coverage.

Sure if you wanna play in the LCS and have every single bush warded, then be my guest and build sighstone.

But please just make it a kind suggestion rather than being an aggressive what the fuck build sighstone you shit head. Thsts just rude.

800 GOLD FOR A item 2049 THAT GIVES HP ISNT GONNA HURT THE DAMAGE OUT PUT OF ANY SUPPORT. IF YOU WANNA BE A MAGE SUPPORT YOU CAN STILL USE THE HEALTH AND ITS EVERYONE RESPONSIBITY TO WARD. A LUX WITH item 2301 item 3020 item 3089 item 3165 item 3174 item 3157 WONT LACK MUCH DAMAGE FOR HAVING WARDS

Supports should get sightstone, but it doesn't need to be their first item, and teammates whining about no sightstone at 4 minutes (wtf?) when they don't even use their trinkets is pathetic.

I always buy sightstone, I don't see what the big deal is.

Now I just need to remember to switch to item 3364 after I get it...Curse this bad habit.

Because as a Braum main, I make the call when I need armor/health/Targon/boots/sight-stone.

I'm not an idiot. If the enemy jungler is brain dead and doesn't gank, I'd rather build armor to get in the enemy ADC's face so that helpless ADC's with your mindset can get their precious kills.

SS does have context. If the enemy team has Rengar, Evelynn, Twitch, Shaco, or many other champions whose kits are designed to allow them to bypass wards, I'm going to use my trinket instead. It's not worth an item slot to have my item active ignored by the biggest roamers.

I agree with buying sightstone, but some of us do feel miffed if everyone expects us to rush it but they can't be bothered to buy a single pink ward the entire game.

shrug

I main support, and I don't usually build it first. It's typically my second or third item - and I've never really ran into any big vision problems. As long as you stay aware, and pay attention to the map you should be relatively safe from ganks. I keep river warded, and I can usually control and provide vision in the bush with Lux's E, and snare any junglers who might attempt to gank.

I hate when a team tries to attack me for not building it first, especially when the cause of their deaths normally boils down to their clumsiness, or lack of awareness/pings. If you just see the enemy run into a bush, logic suggests that you shouldn't face check it.

While I do feel like it's a core essential item for a support to build, I don't think that anyone should ever be harassed for not rushing it. Like others have mentioned, it's up to the player what they want to build, and while there's no harm in suggesting to your support to build it, no one should ever harass or attack one for building differently.

With Lux, and her early scaling, early AP has such a massive effect on her damage output. If you get a blasting Wand, or heaven forbid a Needlessly Large Rod before level 6, she's going to be able to eradicate anyone should she be fortunate enough to land a combo on. And if I'm going against a Sona I like starting Dorans (the only time I do) because I can literally kill her with one snare combo. While I'm sure there's an argument to be had on the merits of sides of this argument, ultimately it comes down to the player. It's an online game, better to embrace each player's ability to make different choices than to force everyone to play the same way.

That's just my opinion though. :P

Just remove sightstone, it's stupid enough i can't farm and have a low gold income but i also have to spend 800g early game and a slot for it.It's only useful for melee supports as they don't need other items like mikaels, ardent, athenes etc. to function.AP supports need mana regen and ap to have relevant dmg otherwise you get shoved in tower and have no pressure.

Supports work 9-5 day jobs and then extra jobs on the side just to pay the bills and put food on the table. You think they can just walk into the nearest store and buy a nice, big, red gem? The audacity you have! You are more put yourself in those poor hardworking supports shoes. Until you've been in that situation and had that lived experience, you are simply not in a position to judge.
