But platinum 5s can be as bad as gold 5s, maybe even worse. Matchmaking doesn't take tier into account at all, only MMR. Those are some very low MMR platinum players.

If I queue with one silver dude, it will put me into a game with 9 silvers if it can't find another game with a silver/gold queued together.

You used to get a penalty for being Duo in that your MMR was considered higher. This was removed entirely when DynamicQ came out.

I don't play ranked but I feel your pain in normals.

Just started playing the game last year, finally getting some of the mechanics down like last hitting, wave management, trading while csing, and it feels like every few games I get plat/diamond enemy laners. It's really hard to try to learn how to last hit when the enemy blitzcrank/thresh/naut can thread the needle and pull you between your minions, or better yet, smite the one your hiding behind and pull.

In your case though, it might be because you really are better than your current rank and you just haven't caught up yet.

So, I checked the enemy ranks. This is what Lolking told me.

Darius: Gold 1. Thresh: Plat 5. Lucian: Plat 5. Ziggs: Gold 1. Kindred: Gold 1.

I then checked your team, including yourself and found this.

Quinn: Gold 5. Braum(you): Gold 2. Pantheon: Silver 1. Lux: Silver 2. Vayne: Gold 5.

Now, I notice that the enemy has 3 gold players, while your team also has 3 in gold. The enemy may have been que'd together, or one of the plat players was with one of the gold players, which is why you got q'd with them.

3 gold vs. 3 gold, fine.

Why are the other two silver vs. plat? Especially when one team has low golds and the team with plats has high golds? This should've been a game with high gold and low plat. Not low-mid gold and high silver vs. high gold and low plat.
